For those having this issue, one other person who had it said that changing the SpecialID value for the Gravity Accelerators in PlanetImprovements.xml from 0 to 9 fixed it, so give that a shot as a temporary fix. Kryo, I tried this and it didn't make a difference. The game still crashed. The SpecialID values are also different for GCII and DA (SpecialID 3), and TA (SpecialID 0), so I only tried it in TA. I am playing as the Terrans in version 1.91.021. When you

I've now played through Beta 2 twice, wanted to post my impressions. First, I see several posts wanting to compare this to GalCiv II. Other than what I found to be a confusing tech tree, which would definitely benefit by being closer to the GalCiv II model, I found myself comparing this game more to the Homeworld, Starcraft, and Age of Empires RTSs. Overall, the game did keep me entertained for hours, but it lacked the immediacy of those other RTS games. 1) I need a way to grab

As always, Stardock, you guys excel at listening to your fans. I haven't played Civ IV or Age of Empires III in I don't know how long. DA is awesome. - I would like to again ask for an official map editor. Modding just isn't the same without a fairly simple, straightfoward, and officially supported map editor. I'd even pay for it. I know you've said in the past that adding a map editor doesn't make sense from a cost/benefit standpoint, but considering how many updates to games I've purc

Over six hours of game play, battles, planetary invasions, and saves, saves, saves - no crashes! Thanks for all the hard work!

'The devs have been investigating the cause of such issues but progress has been slow. One thing you can do to reduce the game's memory usage is download the new heightmap module available on SDC, and turn down the planet surface variety slider in the game's video options. Some have reported pretty significant memory use reductions by doing this already.' Kryo, I have the new hieghtmap module and I reduced the variety slider to 35% and still had the "out of memory" crash. With 3 GB of R

Kryo and Frogboy, for as many CG II and DA games as I've played now, this issue doesn't bother me at all. Please spend your valuable time on the bigger issues (like the memory crash discussed in a different thread). The AI getting an extra structure or few is minor compared to game-ending crashes. And, I for one would love to see what you folks come up with for 1.7. You guys do great work.

Most of the events posted are too extreme for my simple tastes. Ones I like are: - Minor race becomes major race, with bonuses (300% industrial and 100% economic) that make it a true threat. - Pirates. Make 'em big, bad, and mean, give them a base or few on PQ 0 worlds, in short, a threat to trade routes, starbases, and smaller ships everywhere. - An invading horde, i.e. the Monguls in Medievil Total War II. - Civil War in the largest power on the map divides

Kryo, I've sent the SE zip log, a crash screenshot, and my last good saved game file (zipped) to the email address you listed above. My debug file is below. Kryo, I am also suffering frequent crashes. Most of them occur during save attempts which, like the last time this problem krept up during the beta testing for DA, results in the loss of the save game file. The error message I receive says I'm out of virtual memory and the crashes have gotten more frequent as the game progresses (I assume because the save game file size gets larger). And, yes, I did increase virtual memory size with no improvement. I'll run SE before my next session and send it,

AI's need to break alliances with the human player. I play Maso level gigantic custom games. If I survive the early game, mid-game I've learned to make alliances with races and then build influence starbases to take their planets. Slow, yes, but a safe way in mid-game to expand territory to support a larger and better fleet. Later in the game, when I'm the largest or 2nd largest power, I make alliances with all but one race, attack and conquer that race, then break an alliance with another race

For GalCiv III - As others have stated: I would love a 3-D map turn-based strategic game with Homeworld-style RTS tactical battles along the same line as the Total War series. GalCiv II and DA's biggest draw for me (and why I spend more time playing this than Civ IV) is designing my own ships and seeing them in combat. It would be even more fun to "captain" those ships in an RTS style battle as in another of my favorite games of yor: Homeworld. BTW, DA is a great improvement an

Any chance Stardock would create a map editor if enough of us would pay a small fee for it (like Microsoft does with XBOXlive add-ons for 360 games)? For me, a map editor is essential for the long-term enjoyment of a strategy game. From Starcraft to Age of Empires II to the Civ games, I have always ended up making custom maps to add challenge after I've played the campaigns and/or beaten the game at various difficulty levels. Eventually, to get that challenge, I have to set the game to the harde

I'll also add two cents to this. Starbases are so weak that it makes no sense to upgrade them at all beyond whatever benefit the player is trying to get. SO, why have defensive or offensive modules at all if they don't play any significant role in gameplay. I would prefer starbases be much stronger in a fight.

Exactly the same bug, and the saved game it crashes on is always lost for me. This bug makes the game unplayable in the long run. I also play as a custom race in a gigantic map, and all nine AIs are custom. I have sent the debug file from my last crash in.

After playing the last two beta versions, I love some mega events and think others need tweeking or eliminating. -Good: recession (having both good and bad economic times makes for interesting game play and political/military opportunities), plague (research the cure and trade it), increased tourism (targeted and useful) -So-so: things like increased ship speed or range, because they are universal, don't really affect gameplay that I noticed -Bad: spy mega event (okay, let's kill thi

In Dark Avatar you can play around with the exact resources and aglorithms per player. I.e. 110% economy for the AI for instance (which I think is the fairest level as the AI isn't as good at the human in avoiding tactical resource round-off waste). Would it be possible to put a global "cheat level" into the game creation menus in the final ver

I don't normally post to these discussions (though I do read them with interest), but the AI has been an issue in the two gigantic challenging-level DA beta games I've played so far. Simply put, why doesn't the AI attack more? In both games I was able to expand like crazy and not build any military ships until I had over thirty worlds. By that time, I already knew I could beat the game and it wasn't as much fun to play. I don't like playing at the highest difficulty levels without modding becaus

Played all weekend (much to the wife's ire). Loved the UI improvements and had only one crash (better than previous version). And now, because gamers are never satsified, here's a few bugs/requests: -Turn button overlaps bottom of minimap. Accidently ended a few turns when I clicked on the minimap near the turn button. -Still get blank fleet windows. Sometimes there's a ship present but I can't see it, sometimes there's nothing in the space but the blank window showing only a logis
