Also, no one disputes the "theory" of gravity, because gravity is not a theory! The cause of gravity is a theory, in fact there have been several theories on it, but gravity itself is a real and testable force. This entir

Oh, and black holes aren't a theory. We can "see" them in decaying binary systems. Its what in all they can do that we din't know. Heh, the distinction between "fact"/"observation" and "theory" is not as clear cut as most people think. In your statement above, you already hint at the problems involved, by using the word "See" in quotes. <b
Let me add some points. Firstly the word theory can be used in several different ways, even if we are talking about "Scientific theories". In fairness, gravity got "disproved". Einsteinian gravity replaced newtonian gravity (although it doesn't make much of a difference) proving that even laws can be changed, or at least somewhat altered.
The universe is infinite, Er frookie, it is not proven the universe is infinite. . Because of the limitation due to the speed of light , we can only see a certain portion of the universe, the observable universe.. As for the rest of you arguin
A lot of people who play mainly giantic maps say the game is easy, I agree, the bigger the map, the easier it is to win. I would think even bigger maps would be no challenge at all, just a matter of patience.
I mostly use mini soldiers too, but sometimes, others are useful when i want to do scoth and burn.
I'm pretty sure exploiting NLC the right way combined with Spin control center works on suicidal level too, but I never was a glutton for punishment. It definitely works on maschohistic even on the smaller map sizes and is a cake on larger maps.
Diplomacy. I don't give a flying %^&* what their dipolomacy tech level is, while they care about mine enough not to press a military advanatage when they have one. And I don't get fooled by spin control centers.
As frogman mentioned already gigantic maps play very differently from smaller maps like medium. You might try suidical with medium maps, the AI is way more agressive, and the human player gets less resources to exploit. A lot of people saying the game is too easy seem to be playing solely with gigantic maps I notice.
I can handle masochist on medium maps with some sweating, but sucidial just makes me give up in digust. Maybe I should try with gigiantic maps with sucidal... I found mascohist on gigantic maps quite easy compared to medium maps.
Tachyons? You can't accelerate to reach the speed of light, but as mentioned, there's no rule that says you can't start at a speed faster than the speed of light.... Weird particle interactions that occur instantly at any distance (ie FTL). Well quantum tunneling is possible, but no new information is actually transmitted though.
Killzone is there any particular reason why your uber research planet doesn't include a technological capital? Or is that an oversight? I have played like this just for fun, I chose a PQ 18 planet with two 300% research bonus tiles and one 700% production bonus, not super crazy for research but not bad given what I had to work with. Spammed 16 starbases , build technological capital, omni research center, NLC everything else on the planet and hyper computer elsewhere, then
Ok, second chart updated to be RP/(size*sizemod); hit refresh to see the changes. I think what #8 was saying is that you should plot Total research points against DAMAGE/ SIZE * SIZEmod . What matters is not damage after all so using it has one of the axis is kind of pointless. Also Using RP/ Size * sizemod makes very lit
cheat? oh you mean the bonuses given to the AI...Cheating is only applicable if there is a hidden game mechanic reserved for AI's alone which would give them lets say... LOL. So if I was playing in a MP game, and i hacked my game to give me extra bonuses, I wouldn't be cheating? <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/
plus if you do it really early, you miss out on all the events that happen which give you bonuses, both random events that just happen and ones that trigger sometimes when you colonize a planet. Depends on the size of the map doesn't it? When I play medium maps, even if I'm rushing for Xeno ethics, I often complete it just after I colonise all
ditto.
As pointed out already, when your allies attack someone else, you are not obligied to join in, so when you *attack* someone else, your allies aren't obligied to join in. The whole allies joining in, when you are already winning is irriating, but you can do the same thing too to them. And yes, I notice that when I'm attacked, most of the time my allies honor the alliance and declare war on the agrressors. It would be nice to have also full alliances
I don't think any one is saying that the Torian are harder to handle than any other AI race. It's just that in many games some people observe that they tend to dominante the other AI empires (thanks to population growth bonuses, which are one of the best bonuses no doubbt), until we teach them the meaning of the word dominate! Personally I don't have any special strategies dealing with any particular race, except maybe the Dregin , the rest of the time, I just see them has
Xypre exactly my point.
Yeah, war seems to come all at once. It's not always due to alliances though. Sometimes its the AI recognising that a certain race is too weak to live and since all the AI are using the same base, they probably do the same calculations. Sometimes it is the whole gang up on the strongest player/ biggest aggressor effect Other times it looks just like opportunism, I was bashing up the Drengin, and my loyal allies the Terran didn't lift a finger until th
Humans are dreadlords theory is my guess too.
Not quite. Above normal is challenging, and it is still not playing at 100%. The difficulty setting where the AI play at 100% strength without cheating is tough. And yes I play at that level and above.... And my *allies* don't care if i convert 80% of their empire by spamming them with influence starbases....
Some obvious points not touched upon. 1) Mine your morale and econ resources! If I get 1 or 2 of them, cash flow is seldom a problem, and I tend to be a bit more spend thrift. 2) Techs that can help out spending a lot include government techs (+ econ) and morale techs (helps a bit by allowing higher taxes) 3) Each colony initally has a 15 bc maintance cost, and until your colony grows large (typically about 5 Billion depending on tax), you are actually losing mon
Even a child knows how to use capitals more "efficiently" then the AI. Your point is, things it knows how to do, it knows how to do 100%. Things it doesn't, it doesn't. But that is not the same as saying it is more efficient.
Define "Advanced Ai routines".
