I encourage you to also consider helping with some of the more mundane parts of the game. When I say mundane, I mean things you need to do where there is no real thought or strategy involved, just extra work. Not in any particular order: 1 - Make the explore setting work better/more efficiently 2 - Take some of the manual work out of updating starbases 3 - Simple way to colonize, like right click and say colonize and the next colony ship built goes there, an ordered queue

Why do people not want a multiplayer mode ? Because I care nothing for it and adding it will either be part of an expansion that I pay for to get other features and be stuck paying for multiplayer as well or will take time away from the developers that could be used to add features/bug fixes that I do want.

Its a marketing most likely. For example, knowing that they have a large percentage of women users might make them advertise in a womans magazine. Thats probably not what they would do but it gives you an idea.

Frogboy, I think the thing most people do not like about the forums is that they are different than most of the forums they have used in the past. That means a learning curve. Thats not necessarily fair, but it is at least some of the problem. Most forums I use have a similar look and feel making them easy to use. There are other issues like features they are used to like the ability for me to search for all of my posts, not just the threads I initiated. As far as I know, you can't do that

To be honest, I have never really understood why you needed to research anything beyond the initial ability to trade. More trade routes beyond that should really be a function of how many ships you can build and maybe a limit of trading revenues to say 25% of planetary income.

The polls have shown that MP is a minority issue. Only about 33% of the people voting would like to see it. Just because you are vocal minority does not mean you are a majority.

Do you have friends? I'm betting that you are the one that has more problems with friends based on the attitude shown here. Calm down and don't assume you know everything. People like different things and just because you like it does not mean others do. The polls have been pretty conclusive up to now, more people do not want multiplayer.
