Is Demigod the MoM game that is kept under wraps, or is that still to come from Stardock?

Wow, thanks for all the replies. I've been using lots of this advice and it has really improved my game. KzintiPatriarch's post was very helpful. I still have to read the last 2 posts. I think I'm good enough to go to the next difficulty now (yay!). Let me read the next 2 posts. Someone should sticky this - lots of awesome info here.
Hi, I have a few questions about playing GalCiv2 better. I want to improve my game. 1. First, I notice that expanding quickly really evaporates my funds. I like to set my production output to 100% (default is 67% I think), but that usually means I will go in the 'red'. What is a good strategy to expand quickly, but also be kind to your overall funds? 2. Also, is it good to have a starbase on every planet? When do you build it? What type of ship (technologies) do you recommen
Zyxpsilon, I can sort of see what you're saying. I obviously don't have that much knowledge of the inner workings of windows/directx/video cards. I have run this game (and many others) just after a fresh reboot as well, meaning the pagefile is the freshest possible. The game still has these coordinate problems. It has the 'hardware cursor' disappearing problem too (as does Supreme Commander and many other games). I have heard that WoW does not have this problem as Blizzard has
well, That's going to fix the problem (and I obviously knew that because it's clear the problem is in full-screen only). The problem is that running in windowed mode is probably even more annoying than running with the mouse cursor glitch. I guess I just want to get the code of the game to work as intended.
And oh, and many forums suggest "turning off cursor trails". Of course, by default in Vista (for PCs anyway) this feature is turned of already. Many people have tried this 'solution' when it was turned on and it didn't affect anything. I have tried turning on and off all of my mouse settings (like the shadow, and all the others) and it makes no difference. This is just very frustrating that this would be happening.
The program is the vista searchindexer.exe. This thing is constantly taking up memory. Firefox.com is taking 400mb as it is. Total, everything is only 1.1GB in memory before Galciv starts. I think you're just seeing poor vista memory management. If you also look, most of that page file isn't actually being used. The 2.5gb limit is what Vista sets the page file to by default. Honestly, there are other people having this 'hardware cursor' problem with other games using vista. I doubt it's
Like I said before, I'm sure this is a problem with vista in some way. When I was running Galactic Civilizations 2: Dread Lords on XP (I stopped playing for awhile), I had absolutely no mouse hang ups at all.
Okay, I did everything you asked. I installed my monitor driver (kind of a pain to get this installed, but it's now the exact same model as my monitor) and I have set the game's resolution to the desktop resolution. 1. The mouse glitch is still there 2. The Hardware mouse cursor still makes the mouse invisible (like I discribed before). My debug.err from my last load of the game (with switching to hardware cursor): [HR] Debug Message: Version v1.80e Dark Avata
I will try adding my viewsonic monitor driver, but i highly doubt that is the issue. It doesn't make sense to me. I'll post back in 5 minutes with the updated driver.
I have installed the latest drivers, as well as the latest beta drivers. Doesn't matter. Here is the debug.err file: [HR] Debug Message: Version v1.80e Dark Avatar last updated on: Thu Nov 8 10:48:23 2007 Debug Message: Checking DX Version. Debug Message: *********DXDiag info follows.********* System Info Time: 3/11/2008, 21:50:22 DirectX Version: DirectX 10 Machine Name: EGERVARI-PC Operating System: Windows Vista™ Home Premium (6.0, Build 6
Doing that made my mouse disappear. The old mouse graphic just stayed on the screen like it was stuck. I could tell that the mouse was actually moving though. When I went back to the main menu, when I moved the mouse around, the menu options were highlighting even though I couldn't see a mouse cursor. I eventually went back into options a few times and the hardware cursor appeared - yet it didn't stay that way. I just went back to the software cursor. I don't know if this is a problem w
Correction: the location of where the art cursor moves to is fairly random - it's based on where my mouse cursor is on the screen. It's always up and to the left though. Basically, it's like the hardware cursor (invisible) is staying in the same spot but the software cursor moves until I actually move the x,y of the mouse again.
Hi, I'm experiencing a weird glitch when using my scroll-wheel in the game, like when scrolling through some text in the window. When I scroll up or down, the cursor actually moves up and to the left a bit (i'm guessing 100 pixels left, and 30 pixels up). When I move the mouse, the cursor resets itself to the spot I had originally had my mouse in. This is not a big problem, but it's kind of annoying. I'm using an nvidia 7600 GT with the latest drivers (i've tested with the
Hey Stardock! The TA beta rocks! ** One suggestion **: In light of Sins, could you add the feature to zoom and in and out based on the position of your mouse curser to the game? This would make navigation on big maps much faster. After seeing how amazing it is in Sins, it would make TA even better! It's probably not too hard to add in. Again, I love this game! I think if anyone had a doubt that Galciv2 was not the best Turn-based strategy game to date, they w
Cool! Thanks! This will do nicely!
It's in beta? Aren't they working on the 2nd expansion to the game already? And by guide... I didn't mean manual. I just mean a guide written by some enthusiastic gamer who's played the game hundreds of times and discovered every nook and cranny in the game and wrote about it.
Where is the best guide to galciv2: DA? Like a guide that really gives some good, specific information on how to really play well in this game. Does it exist? Gamefaqs doesn't have that much :/
Hi, I'm having some big issues with graphics in the game (Dread Lords and Dark Avatar). I'm an Nvidia Geforce 7600 GT on Windows XP. At first I thought it was my video drivers, so I upgraded those. The problems I was having were fixed, but now it's acting up again. I also have my computer in dual monitor display with my HD Television. Not sure if that has anything to do with it. Basically 2 very annoying and severe bugs happen. The first is that graphics will go out of
Worked! Thanks!
Hi, I just bought gal civ 2 but I replaced my cpu, motherboard and video card. Now the game is saying my serial number is incorrect for my cpu sid (or something like that). Can you please help me?
