I can avoid a long, drawn-out war simply by working my way up the Majesty tree, wiping out the one "troublesome" race, and allying with the rest. This saves me probably 50% of game duration. Is there a penalty for winning diplomatically? I guess there kind of is, since you're not the lone ruler of the galaxy, but other than less points due to a shorter game, is there any loss? This seems like the easy way out and I see no reason not to

Instead of the repetitive, generic robot moving its arms and the description (which is not a bad thing), how about a simple, yet very big addition? How about a screen, next to the robot, with a simple image associated with the technology you've unlocked? Majesty, maybe a shiny crown. Soil Enhancement, some dirt! Beam weapons, um, a laser? Yeah, I know, Normal isn't really "equal" yet. If the AI outproduces me this badly already, I'd be afraid to move on. Thing is, though, they're not really a threat to me since I tend to stay Good and build up my diplomacy skills. If my standing goes down to Wary I'll give them a technology or two and build up my military some, and they'll fight eachother. After having played 4 or 5 games on Small and Medium maps, I feel I can give some input on my experiences and help potential buyers and those of us who already own the game.
