I've said this before and yes - I know - it's never going to happen, but I'd love to see Star Trek, Babylon 5, BSG, Stargate and Star Wars get together and release mod packs for GalCiv2 and other popular games. Another thing that I've said before is how the Ship Creator works - that it could be much better. I would like to be able to go into the shipyard screen and click on a button that says "view available online models". This would then load other peoples designs straight f

They didn't bother fixing constructors. I've given up trying to do an influence victory due to the sheer boredom of micromanaging scores of constructors. Quite simply, it doesn't deserve to win due to this alone. Why have something that turns the game into a grinding hault - micromanagement isn't fun. And theres also no multiplayer. Personally I wouldn't even use a multiplayer, but the game would be much better if it had one - hence it shouldn't win game of the year.

If "consumers are ignorant" as you say it will NOT mean that the PS3 rules - rather the Wii will come to dominate the console market. As soon as a consumer sees one in a tv advert they instantly "get it" (meaning that they "understand how it works"). Virtual Tennis, Golf etc - just use the controller like a bat/club/lightsabre or whatever. This appeals to all age groups. The Wii is cheaper than the Sony, and it has a H-U-G-E wow factor - motion sensitive gameplay.

Yeah - I spend ages on it. I've just stopped attempting to build influence starbases now. I used to have stacks of colonies churning out constructors - but it took ages to set up and a nightmare to figure out how many ships where enroute to which starbases. The developers have known for ages that lots of people find all their time taking up by what is basically a boring bit of gameplay. As they've not done anything about it in previous patches (not sure what could be done with it) I ver

I disagree - people here are into the same kind of games that I'm into. Therefore I'd very much like to hear what people think of the new Space Empries game - good or bad - it will help me decide whether or not to buy it (demo takes way too long to download).

I've played the previous 0.3 version and think that its great. For the first time I've began paying attention to the races feeling that they have their own unique character and playing accordingly. Thanks very much for this mod! There's something else that I'd like to see. I'd like to see scenarios set up where you can start the B5 mod at certain points during the five year B5 story arc. E.g. if you select to play B5 Season 4 then the computer would generate

I cheat all the time - clicking control-n until I get a map that has my homeworld in a location that looks favourable and - preferably some bonuses (x700 manufacturing tiles are cool). I figure "Its my game, I'll be spending the next 5 hours playing it" and hence make sure that I select an evironment I'm going to have as much fun as possible with. But.... I've yet to see a planet that has both a 700x Manufacturing AND a 700x Research. Is such a planet possible? Or is there code

I'm playing the B5 (Babylon 5) mod. Its still an early version - but its great. When playing the normal game I never really bother paying attention to how races differ from each other, but when playing this game I certainly do. As Earth Alliance I found myself teaming up with races just like in the series, and when as the Shadows found myself trying to manipulate the other races to war on each other, before launching an assult in all of them (just like the series). It

We could go the next step and having something would be really frantic - a full 3D world and real time. We see freighters moving from one place to another, several battles happening at once (you'd see LOTS of flashing lights go of on your display!). While things would go relatively slowly (e.g. you see ships move but they do slowly, albeit some ships move quicker than others) a large portion of your strategy would be decided on what you should spend time on!<

I don't like your idea. I think that the best solution would be for the big ships to be able to fire at more than one target at a time. To be honest, I have no idea why they can't do this - it goes against common sense. Lets just start copying Space Empires IV where: Each weapon on a ship fires once at the start. Thereafter the can fire as soon as they are "recharged". Lasers can fire most of less at every turn, while missiles every three or more turn

My favourites are the Millenium Falcon, X-Wing, A-Wing, Tie-Fighters, Tie-Bombers, Star Destroyers, Super Star Destroyer and the Death Star (both versions). There was also a cool luxury ship/shuttle that looked like a kind of space yaught with three sails (making up a triangle type thing). None from the new films spring to mind/stand out.

I hope that it just copies the Space Empires IV game (I'd bet that this is where the ideal comes from). Seems daft to have a "toxic" planet type as I'm sure that it wouldn't be "toxic" to all races! In SPIV we have Rock, Gas and Ice planets. You'd start out being able to colonize one type - but could research the others - but it did take a lot of research points to research the others (and you need to research normal techs or risk falling behind the other races). It worked *ver

1. Offical add on packs from Star Trek, Babylon 5, Dr Who, BSG, Star Wars, Star Gate etc released within the first year. I'll pay whatever they want! 2. Planets currently exist on a 2D grid - lets go for the full 3D effect! I want solor systems to be in true 3D so that some Solar systems are above or below each other (as well as the usual front/back/left/right). I'd prefer "battles" to take place by the system "zooming" into the action in this 3d sphere - but thats optional (the current

6. Addictiveness Glitch. I've been trying to stop playing it and get back to important things like eating, sleeping and work. No matter how hard I try though the game doesn't allow me to exit easily - and when I do manage to hit the exit button... it pleads for me to have just "one more time". Arrggghhh!

SEV is the biggest departure yet - there is a new 3D interface - it's no longer 2D. Much of the things I like about GalCiv2 where in SEIV long beforehand - and the new planet atmosphere thing that's comming in the GalCiv expansion pack is a core feature of SEIV. I'm downloading the demo now (its large so will take a while).

When you start any new game for the first time it takes a while for you to figure out how you character functions. This is also true when you get to a "new level" - you need to figure out where to go, whats in there etc. But after a while you get to know the level, hence it becomes easier to play. I want to completely remove that advantage so that each game and each level becomes a new, different challenge each time you play. An example: Turn 1 (computer ai generates a new

No - I'm right and your wrong and that's all there is to it I didn't think about finding another race - very good point. I still think that it would be nice to have an option of disabling the ship from going through them. In the way I play I expand quickly and desperately need the extra credits.

Flagship - automatic survey. At the begining of the game selecting this option is great... right up to the point where your Kamikaze Flagship pilot decides to jump through a wormhole, landing on the opposite side of the galaxy = no chance of your Empire getting any of those crucial bonuses for another 20+ turns (and he'll probably jump straight into another one when he gets back).

I've already suggested something like this. To repeat - I'd like to see a facility to load other peoples ships WITHIN the game itself. For example I've just researched large hulls. So I go into the shipyard screen. From here I can either click on "build my own ship" or (this is what I'd like) "view other peoples designs". This last button connects automatically to the internet (XML/AJAX or whatever) - but we wouldn't really be aware of the connection. We'd just get a

I agree - it doesn't look like a smily face at all. When I first saw it I thought - wow, the poor person making the post wants to show everyone that he's contorting in screaming agony! It does look like the little yellow guy is having a seizure! It looks like his tongue AND that he's biting down on it! Is that a tear drop in the other eye (the eye thats not convulsing)? No wonder. I ask you - whats the world coming to? Lets start a petition for the developers to aban

I don't think that theres any change. 700% tiles are great fun - especially on large worlds. Is it possible to get really lucky and have multiple 700% tiles on the one planet? Now that would be fun

What patch? Is that different from the normal 1.3 download? Its annoying having to spend 8 points only to have no corresponding home planet bonus on start up - it means that your at a disadvantage compared to other races.

Heres the thing... I like to send my Flagship on automatic survey as I then don't have to try to remember what areas I'm covered - and as its probably better at located things than I am. So at the start I tell it to survey things on its own. I then start getting the critically important extra cash etc at the begining of the game.... that is, of course, until the Flagship decides to jump into a wormhole. It is now located at the opposite end of the giantic gala
