Without WA it is running without problems so far. ( Have not had the time to play longer than a few minutes)

Err... did I mention that Winamp was running in the background? Maybe that has also caused my crashes before but never this severe. I always ended at the desktop. Even after updating all components of GC the system will reboot after loading the save game when runnig winamp in the background!
I experienced a severe bug with GCII:DA/Stardock Central. I have installed the beta 1.50[b].102 and Stardock 2.45.458 build 149 with Windows 2000. Sometimes my GC crashes back to the desktop. Something I have come to terms with because my system is quite old. Yesterday I happened again and I decided to update GA once again. It is my first game playing beta2 and I am experiencing some of the enhancements done to the AI attacking starbases. First, it really attacks them. Have seen that happen rarely before. So that is a plus. Here comes the big minus. I have build an influence starbase near the Korx homeworld an a military one rigth beside, neatly covering two of my planets and their homeworld. I started to fortify the bases when the Korx started war.

When I upgrade my Starbase with a ship attack assist and a ship flies through the influence zone, I see the assist added. When I add a defense assist it is not visible. Why?! (version1.0x) Can I find out if it works anyway? Regar
So I will build a fleet of them range 15 ships and get the "advantage" anyway Well I can imagine it might be difficult to program the AI so it can truly see the stategic advantage of such ships or make use of it themselves. Nevertheless, if you can build it, you should be able to do it!
My usual strategy in the unpatched version of the game was to build a sensor ship(The Eye of the Beholder). This would have about 21 parsec visible range second round into the game. After patching the game to version 10x...(not the beta version) I was only able to build ships with 12 parsec visible radius. That was due to tweaks in the amount of space a sensor takes I guess. Makes sense but I liked the advantage it gave you <img src="smiles/Wink.
