Finally had some time to sit down with D.A. and take it for a spin. Put together a bunch of custom races, set up a gigantic galaxy, and went at it. Then it crashed and couldn't get it to work again. So started over with a Huge galaxy. More fun was had, until my poor laptop, labouring under the strain, gave up once again. Now playing a large galaxy and everything seems fine. I was thinking that the game needs flagships as well. It's not just Sci-Fi shows--it's a staple of games as well. What's that one, where humanity's cut off from Earth and looking to get back while engaged in a war with bug-like aliens? Anyway, during one of the better missions the human flagship shows up--kicks ass--it's a great moment. That's what this game needs: one ship out of the entire fleet that is the absolute best and greatest the race can produce. How to put it
Well, I've been playing GalCiv II way too much but I've encountered a new problem for the first time. Playing good and avoiding my usual oppressive ways, I made good with a couple of minor civilizations and formed alliances with them. Silly me--they're useless, and now I need their 15-quality planets. But when I attack, I'm told the alliance gets in the way. How the heck do I cancel said alliance? (In a similar vein, how do I spy on minor races--not that I can see any point in doing so.)
