a 20 million dollar company paying annual taxes of 160,000 dollars is a drop in the bucket. well...what is the percentage of 160,000 dollars of 20 milllion dollars. It is like asking a millioniare to pay 8000 dollars in tax in a year.
Yeah...no it's not, and that is not the point. The point is that under this new tax code, Stardock's corporate tax has gone up 14,000% in one year. How about if your property taxes went up 14,000% in one year? Would that be a drop in the
it implied (without giving enough facts, IMO) that the new MBT might do something like make a business pay employment tax for an FTE hired as a contractor.
Yes, without having read the new tax code, it is difficult to infer the article's meaning. Then again, it's also difficult to determine the main point of the article..is it about businesses having difficulties with the new tax code? Is it about a developing propensity for businesses to move because of the new ta
In addition to being really shocked that a revised state tax law could lead to such a dramatic increase over last year's bill,
Actually, this does not shock me as much, now that I've read the article. It is dramatic from a business standpoint, but not entirely a surprise. According to the way the article was written, it seems that a majority of Stardock's employees are contract (1099) employees through ADP. In other words, they are technically employees of

Why is everyone assuming that it is Stardock who will be acquired? Why isn't it possible that they will be doing the acquiring? I wouldn't classify Microsoft as a "similar" software firm to Stardock. They might compete in the same markets, but Microsoft competes in almost every market.
4.) Add birth of a new Solar System mega event, includes new star and potentially new planets
I like this. Conversely, you could have a supernova mega event that would destroy a star system, creating new asteroids or resources to mine. There have been many excellent suggestions so far. Some of mine are variations on those: 1. The ability to upgrade all ships of a certain type in a fleet, not just in the whole civ. 2. Have spies not only

I love the auto ship designer function in ToA. I'm not a big fan of designing my own ships, and as I stroll through the tech tree, I don't want to have to worry about constantly updating my designs. However, I have a question. I have figured out how to emphasize a particular trait on ships (beam vs. missiles, shields vs. armor, etc.) but it seems that the designer only uses about a dozen of the myriad templates available. Is there a way to get it to build battleships

Yes, it went to At War. There was no troop transport involved. They blew up one of my mining vessels...as if he had done anything to deserve that! Naturally, I wiped the floor with them in return. :CONGRAT:

Another update! Excellent! Hey, Cari..I sent you guys a saved game with the issue of having a ship frozen in the lower corner of the screen that seemed to do nothing but occupy the lower corner of the screen. It was not recognized by my cursor. I have also had that issue with Terror Stars (long) after I had fired them. In fact, I had a game where the Terror Star basically became an ornament on the screen after I used it. Even the enemy ships were ignoring it. Did anyone have a chance to c

I started a game on a gigantic galaxy with 7 opponents on tough. I thought that all my foreign relations had read "Close" but suddenly the Krynn attacked me, without a formal declaration of war. Is that supposed to happen? Attacking without warning? I don't think I've ever seen that before.
Oh dear... what have I started here!!! We're told that size doesn't matter, and here's me advocating that bigger is better... and maybe giving lesser endowed folk an inferiority complex.
You know they say that if you have to brag about it, then you're making up for a shortcoming somewhere. :NOTSURE: Some of us are secure enough with our screens so that we don't need to show off. :HOT: Besides...everyone knows that it's not the screen size that matters...it's

I can almost see the reason for the 20k treasury penalty..as a society gets wealthier, it becomes more corrupt. Although, I think 20k is a bit low as the limiter. Having said that, I have a question..what is the point of the trade penalty? It seems to me, that as a society increases its wealth, it has more to trade, so why should trade revenue go down? What is the point of having techs like Advanced Trade and Master Trade if you are just going to be penalized for using them?

I don't think anything is wrong. I'm not sure, but I believe the economics were changed between DA and ToA. As far as suddenly making 5,000 per turn, it sounds like you had one of the economic mega events occur, such as the tourism increase or opening the trade market. Either one will increase the income from the activity in question by 5 to 10 times at least. I had the tourism one occur recently, and by the end of the game, I was making 27k per turn!
Original Transformers!!!! The kids of the 70's said the same thing about Transformers, He-Man and TMNT. The kids of the 60's said the same about Superfriends, Scooby Doo and Space Ghost. The kids of the 50's said the same abou
One show that I've always wished hadn't ended was Nowhere Man. I'm sure very few people know what that show even was, but I was freakin hooked on it,
That makes 2 of us. I was very hooked on it. I always felt it was the inspiration for The Pretender, which is one of the shows that gets my vote for uncancellation, along with Deadwood (I never felt that it finished properly), B5 and Journeyman. Also, there used to be a show called Davis Rules with Jonathan Winters a

Personally, I am not a huge gamer. I don't have that much time, and I am picky about the games I play. I have a small group of titles to which I am very loyal, and rarely try to expand it. Although I understand Stardock's push for Impulse from a business standpoint, I currently have no desire or need to install it onto my computer. My belief is that any updates to any Gal Civ 2 title should be available on both Impulse and SDC. Since the majority of users have been upgrading on SDC, it seem
Imagine todays 300mb+ monster games - 470 "Frizbee Floppys"
That most assuredly would have burned out the Duodisk on my Apple IIe. Plus, I probably would have had to stay up for a week straight just to get it loaded. Personally, I don't give a crap about Political Machine. It's not my kind of game. However, I understand that business is business, and this one is as cutthroat as any. So, I don't mind taking a back seat to SD's new product if it means the

I had a weird thing happen in a game with a terror star. I used it twice on the Yor and then it wouldn't work any more. In fact, the pointer didn't even recognize it as an object. It was still displayed, but it was as if it wasn't even there. Luckily, I had a spare :HOT:

Ok, I don't know if anyone else has had this issue. It has been in the game since the original Gal Civ II, but seems to have gotten worse in ToA. Any time I try to upgrade a starbase of any kind with a fleet of constructors, I have to do it twice. The first time the fleet reaches the starbase, I get the popup window asking me what upgrades I want to make, and when I accept the first one, the window goes away and my fleet sits on top of the starbase.
"the largest warfaring warship" or something is what it says on the movie. Warfaring? What the hell is "warfaring"? Space-faring, I think, is what they wanted to say.
Yes, not only does this alliterate in a clumsy manner, but "warfaring" is not even an actual word in the English language. "Warfare" is, "warfaring" is not. I think the easiest change would be to just drop the "warfaring" and call it "the largest warship". Adding a second adjective to that phrase wou

I don't find this nearly as annoying as the fact that the Thalans don't seem to have any farming techs. How can you increase population (and hence revenues) without farming techs??
