This would require that the randomization take into account the player's chosen race color. Otherwise you could be up against a race just like yours. Very annoying.

AT&T told me the other day that I know more than any of their level 1 or 2 techs and that I should be elevated the moment I call. Wouldn't tell me how I'm supposed to get that to happen though. At least they recognize that it is true.
I generally play with [link="https://forums.galciv2.com/311620"]these[/link] races. I have had pretty good success with them. I think the Talxerxians are my favorite, though the Proliferians are much easier to play with.
Just a note: some users that installed the release version over the beta have reported such behavior. If you had the beta, but did not follow the directions in [link="https://forums.galciv2.com/310227"]this[/link] post you probably have a botched install.
Piznit: While you may not have any issues with installing over the beta, that does not mean that your install is correct. I had some issues with the impulse beta botching installs. I know that the research cost inflation was discussed here, and that Brad is aware of the issue. I just say all this because if it is possible to try a reinstall and then test for the same conditions (previous save game vs new game maybe?) we might find out what is causing it for both of you.
Actually, no. If I loose 5 production, I will probably just buy whatever it is when it should've been done anyway. But then, I am an economic player and usually have money to burn.
The good programmer that knows what he is doing and does it right the first time is getting to be an endangered species. I think there are 3 left by the last count. Trouble is, their fur looks the same from the outside as the more widely known crappy programmer who cuts corners and doesn't logic check his work. If this species dies out, our whole civilization may fall.
Thanks for clearing it up kryo. Don't know where I got the idea it had already been fixed. Sorry for the confusion!
The 32MB refers to the RAM on the video card, not the RAM of the computer
That was my thought as well. Could be an integrated card sharing system RAM that is not configured properly.
They cannot, sorry.
Perhaps you don't want to let me in on this kryo, but why? Does the save game store the civ data to prevent cheating?
I just figured that if you didn't notice it's absence, it didn't really matter in the first place.
uofadave, You should read [link="https://forums.galciv2.com/310227"]here[/link] and [link="https://forums.galciv2.com/311037"]here[/link] before installing to ensure everything goes ok.
Netriak, I actually have .Net Studio running and several .Net C# apps. Subsequent launches of Glactopedia appear to take the same amount of time, even if no programs are running. I'll see if I can't do some profiling and see what is going on.
Where's that edit button go when it is hiding? Ok, back on topic: Netriak, what exactly is the program doing when it starts up that takes so long? I assume it is reading in the data from the game folders and such. Any chance you'd feel like tossing in a progress par or busy animation on a splash screen or something? Maybe even with a cancel button? C# .Net has some handy gadgets you can plug in with ease to do things asynchronously if need be.
Call me lazy, Pure Pascal days are long gone and C++ is much more convivial -- if one has the languages nailed and the PC compiler speed for it.
I know its off topic, but you might want to have a look at C#. You can get it in an express version too, and it is really the best of both worlds when it comes to .Net programming. You have the fast managed capabilities of VB with all the power of C++. It also tends to be much more natural to write than VB or C++, at least to
Where did the image for the plant race come from - very creepy - I like!J
Actually, my graphics department. I asked for a custom race for GalCiv, but didn't specify anything more than that the first time. Next thing I know, Michael J drops in on my desk! Of course, the Valkar are from TA. It seems to suite them pretty well.
What version of the game are you running? Did you every install it before? Did you run the betas? I'm not sure what your issue is just yet. Can you tell us your video card specs? Did you try reinstalling the game? I know that is a major pain, but it just might fix it if you have some corrupt/missing files.
Sorry for the broken links! They should all be working now.
Hmmm.... Perhaps I am mistaken. I have never had the bug myself as I havn't been using the TS. I could have swore that I saw it in the changelog. Better get a second opinion in case I'm wrong.
With these types of bonuses it is conceivable that two terror star fleets fight each other. That would be interesting...
Glad you are enjoying the game. Welcome to the addition! :p
Personally, I would prefer to have a Firefox extension that allows me to update and install my purchases from Stardock. That would eliminate the extra program I don't need and add functionality to one I do need and use often.
I can understand your reasoning, but not everyone has or even likes FF. Besides that, extensions to browsers are fraught with problems and are the number one thing to avoid when it comes to ancillary software.
I had kinda hoped myself that the Terror Stars might be slightly unique to each race in their benefits. Like one might be slightly faster, others might boost certain aspects of their defending fleets, still others could act as mobile influence bases or improve morale.
That is a very good idea. That would certainly increase the flavor of the race quite a bit!
Babamilo, by all means continue smacking your head into a brick wall - the rest of us are enjoying the soggy thumping sound.
Haha! That deserves a few rounds of karma!
Good guess guys! @Frogboy -- Why was it the most interesting? Was it hard to track down (it must have been if it took that long)? How'd you finally manage to solve it?
