As Brad has said already, TA will get an update this month, including looking at the tech scaling. The devs have been working 10-12 hour days, 7 days a week, for the past month or two, first to get TA done, then to get PM08 done. The TA update may be a bit slower in coming than we'd like, but we've only got so many devs to go around, and PM08 by its very nature can't be delayed like TA was.

Either would be a "bug", it's just a question of whether it's in the code i

I am at the half of my immense game and i did not notice an increase in tech cost that really bothers me - maybe it is just a question of playstyle and not really a bug?
The devs have indicated that it is a bug - both in forum posts and in PM's. Just because you don't see it, or don't mind it, doesn't mean that it functions as intended.
Either way, the devs owe it to us to tell us what is going to be done about it and when. If it is a choice, they
I believe this could easily be resolved by simply fixing the no update bug on the colony screen. It really should update whenever a change occurs in its data anyway.
And what is the effect of 50% luck? (25% from ability plus 25% from political party)
The effect is the same. Just use 50% in the math instead of 25%.
I would prefer to see the flames against Stardock stopped, and this thread devoted to attempts to isolate the cause of what we're seeing.
I certainly hope you do not view my comments as flames. I have not found this to be a game breaking issue for me, though there have certainly been some major headaches. I support Stardock, as I have for quite some time. I certainly hope that everything works out and the patch is released soon. The fact that I can even say 'the' patc
Very disappointing. I talk up Stardock all the time with my gaming buddies; never thought crap like this would occur. How the heck did such a wide-spread bug get into the final release?
Excuse my pointedness, but I believe I answered that question a few posts ago.
I think the problem here lies in StarDocks' beta program. I've mentioned it before, but their system seems to be to get a beta version that works fairly well (not all bugs fixed), then add a ton of content and changes and then barely beta test it in house (how much beta testing can you do in house in a few weeks?) and then release it. Beta testing is designed so that you can find and fix ALL the bugs before release. Then you release it. You don't redo everything again and then releas
It seems they will stick to that plan, even when the game has been unplayable for one full month. Hard to believe it's still Stardock in charge.
I will probably get flamed for this, but the truth is that when a small company grows, it has to at some point start acting like a big company. Sooner or later things are going to get a little tighter and then Brad will have to decide whether his word to his customers or his bottom line are more important. I just hope t
STK, I think you may have just deleted the line with the typo. 99.99% sure thats it.
edit: wow. This forum doesn't do nested quotes very well. There doesn't appear to be a preview button either. Unless I'm missing something.
Try highlighting the text of the post you want to quote first.
Holy well written post Batman! I can actually understand most of what you said Zyxpsilon. It was in English with grammar and all kinds of understandable...sentences! That's awesome! I like your ideas (i think), but it is really great to actually be sure I know what you are actually saying.
Regarding what you said about suddenly having more money than you could possibly spend, that happened to me too - it's influence related it seems. It happened to me right after I conquered two minor civs and, having no real use for their planets, I filled them with nothing but influence structures. About 30 turns go by and I've got some money and nothing to really spend it on (peace, large fleet, and already spending 100%), so I started rush-building the influence planets, hoping to con
I think theres something about that jolt of excitement when you stumble across a huge class 20+ planet that just would not be the same if you knew where it was from the start and even discovered some enterprising fellow had set up a food court and a gift shop in anticipation of your colony ship.
I'm confused. Wasn't the idea to only show the stars (and their colors) along with planets that all looked like a single white circle until explored?
We have a fair number of NB acadian-french speakers and quebecois here in Halifax, and I find that native french speakers often have a particular way of coming at the english language that I've gotten used to.
Any way you could share it with me? I'm usually completely lost with his posts.
I believe it does require .Net 2.0 Ubercat. .Net versions are all separate and different. You cannot run a 2.0 project with 3.0 or a 1.0 project with 2.0. Isn't Microsoft great?
It is definatly not working as well as it used to, though I never liked the system in the first place. Whey can't they just do some path finding or "own" sectors to explore each turn?
It would certainly make things better. The truth is that the UI in this game shows a lack of good planning. While the game is defiantly fun, most data could have been on the main map with layer toggles like most other games.
I find it more sigificant than that. The game allows a zero roll. If you have a 25% luck abliity and a ship with a defence of 4, you will always roll a 1.25 - 4 instead of 0-4. What that means is you will never loose to a ship with less than 1.25 attack. With a defence of 99, it would be 25-99. Pretty big deal! I was thinking for some reason that it applied to attack as well. Is that not correct?
Any chance for a GalCiv version? I like the topics in the last screenshot.
Hey around here you never can tell. Didn't want a three day conversation looking for a TA option in DL.
From your description, it was one of three viruses. All of them take me about half an hour to deconstruct manually. For non expert tech types, wiping is the only option. They attach a dll into the shell and one of them even jumps into bed with wininit. At any rate, there is no virus scanner or spyware scanner on the face of the planet that can remove it properly. Such scanners are designed to remove the virus once it is there and hopefully before it takes root, and do a rather poor

I have never understood that, but then my system only pauses briefly when loading an immense map. I would rather wait a few extra seconds (30-60?) and have an accurate map than the current situation. That is especially so when I load a game that has influence borders that suddenly flip a planet that would not have even been in the enemy's area otherwise. You have to wait sooner or later, so why not just doing while you are waiting anyway? At any rate, it makes no sense to me.

In truth, the pirates are a free ride to victory. All you need are transports with high engine speed and you now have the whole galaxy to conquer at your leisure. Not fun in my mind, but there it is.
