Or you could create a performance tweak tab in the options so people with slow machines can use low, medium or high settings. This is a great idea. I know it can be a lot of work to organize so many options, but it would be great if the performance options were on their own tab. This way when someone has trouble with performance, they know where to go. It would also help to clear up some confusion as to what things actually do.<br/

"At a bare minimum, we should at least be told what we gave away, even if we don't get to control it." This is, in my opinion, critical. I have no way of knowing if I just volunteered the tech that was winning me the war. Speaking of which, in this game the AI can now suddenly run around the galaxy at warp speed (6 mp), when they were stuck at 2 or 3 mp. Wonder how that happened?
Doh! I am an idiot for sure. Completely forgot the trade tech! Thanks Xei! I don't really need it as I am currently running a gross income of 7k and a profit if 4k. Drengin: I may be mistaken, but I thought I read on the forums that it was only necessary to start a new game in beta 4 if you wanted the memory optimizations. Note that this was not posted as a bug, or in the beta reports or bugs forums.
The events tab only shows what I recieved, and only by saying that research on each of the techs was completed. For those interested, here are the techs I recieved: Ultimate Logistics Advanced Life Support Shield Defense Theory Laser Habitat Improvement Singularity Driver II Singularity Driver III Soil Enhancement Missile Weapon Theory Extended Life Support Beam Weapon Theory Xeno Ethics Diplomatic Relations I don't notice any pa
Today my posting screen looks like this: As you can see, the white background is gone making it possible to see the titles. That is a huge improvement, but shouldn't the text boxes be black with white text? This can be done through CSS formatting in IE and FF
I'm playing a game started in 1.7b3c and is now 1.7b4 and I can't seem to build an economic capital. My civ does not have one and I've never built one though it would have been a good idea. I have not lost any planets, and have only gained planets from one civ who still has his. I'm about to take it and I always build mine before I do that. I have looked, but it is not in any of my build tabs. I even browsed all of my planets and confirmed one has not been constructed or is under constructio
That sounds like a stuck key Varriska. Does this happen all the time? Could be that direct input or something (don't know what method GalCiv uses for input) never got the key up signal.
I posted the movement point update bug as well. I am more than a little worried about the 300 star cap myself. While I understand the need to meet the needs of those with smaller builds, I upgraded my machine just for GalCiv! One thing I love about this game is the massive scale it can take on. Please don't force me to play smaller games for the sake of others. An option to cap it would, at least in my mind, seem to be a small amount of programming difference over forcing it all the
I don't know how to tell what I gave them. I could have given them my missile tech, defence tech, or even large hulls. It should at least tell me what I gave away, don't you think?
Agreed. I would really like the higher res thumbnails back.
I've always thought that the developers intentionally included game elements that would allow you to make mistakes, thus penalizing lazy players and rewarding those willing to do a little research. I think it makes the game more interesting. It keeps it from being an environment where all you try to do is more and more of the "right" thing and forces the player to think critically. I completely agree. The game would be very boring if I always h
These I believe are medium hulled ships. The AI has yet to research anything better. It is named battleship so I'm assuming the Altarians use it for that purpose. It does seem to fit the bill as well. The extra HP is from experience in previous battles.
The new option to remove textures not being used is a great idea. I could really use it as my system is often running several dev enviroments for games, web sites, etc while I am playing. GalCiv is the only 4x game ever created that can max out all my processors, all my RAM, and my video cards. I find it rather annoying to have a pause before every battle sequence however, especially when fighting an on going war where attacks occur frequently. Can the option be improved to wait a ce
Could a new section be created under News perhaps just for changelogs and release notes? I would really, really, really, like it if this was the case.
1.7b4 I just had a large fleet battle between myself and the thorians. I used missiles and guns, they used only guns. Somewhere in the battle, green beam weapons (phasors?) were fired however. Sent saved games and debug.err for you.
I find that it is always hard for me to find the release notes for a given update. I would really appreciate some info on how to quickly locate the changelogs for any version of the game I'm looking for. Thanks in advance.
I prefer to play with tech trading off for various reasons. In my current game, the UP forced all races to trade a tech to all others. It could have been worse but not enough voted for the 3 techs option. Now I might have been able to live with this, but I didn't even get the chance to choose what tech. I recieved some very useful techs myself, and am currently winning due to some weapon and large hull techs no one else has. If the game traded one of those without asking me I will not</I
I've been fighting the 4 top militaries in my current game for years now. They just won't quit. The Altarians keep donating ships way on their side of the gigantic galaxy. I've been just sending them to the nearest enemy planet/starbase within my life support range and letting them die annoying the enemy since it would take half the game for them to make it to me. They just donated a battleship to me. I've had these before, but this one has seen previous combat. 8M Attack, 6A Defens
Since they are so slow, I just parked them in orbit of my enemies main production facilities. It will be a good long time before he has enough armor to last long enough in a fight with one of those things. I now have the Talxerxians, Yor, Thalians, and SDN's all wasting money on ships that will never defeat me.
1.7b4 While browsing through the galaxy I noticed that a planet, Alpha Apodis III, suddenly disappeared. It had to have happened within the last 3 turns or so since I was just there beating up the local Yor ships. The UI elements are all there around where the planet should but, just no actual planet. Again, submitted saved game and debug.err
In this particular game, I have now recieved 4 rangers. They mop of anything that I throw them at, albeit slowly. Perhaps having the tech rate on slow has something to do with them being so useful?
Actually, I am referring to the escorts. Small hull escorts with no weapons or specialized modules (troop transport, etc). The movement points are for my fleet of attacking medium hull cruisers. These ships flew in as a fleet, then disbanded said fleet in order to attack unfleeted enemy ships efficiantly. However, all three ships seem to have used their movement points when a single unfleeted ship attacked.
1.7b4 When off-type armor blocks part of a shot, shouldn't it's icon light up on bottom of the battle screen? I am not seeing this happen and am unsure if my off-type armor is having any effect. As I recall, it is supposed to be enabled as such in this build. If not, please forgive my ignorance. Also: When accellerating space battle sequences by 5x or more, the weapons no longer train to where the enemy ship will be correctly. They miss by miles and miles. [EDIT] F
Just updated to new beta [1.7b4] I am still noticing the same issue here. When moving a fleet, the movement points (6/6) does not update unless you click on the fleet again. This is the case for all fleets in my games all the time. [EDIT] Just noticed that this applies to all other fleet stats. IE, after battle, HP does not update unless you reselect the fleet. NOTE: Stardock Central showed the update button after updating to 1.7d[b].001 untill restarted.
Sorry for all the posts, but they just keep coming. An Talxerxian (who I'm at war with) freighter just arrived at an alien world. The trade route established appears to have been created to one of my planets (Asellus Australis I) which I took from them quite some time ago. Will email save and debug.err
