Considering the game itself makes enough references to Star Trek to warrent a non affiliation with paramount logo somewhere, I was suprised that the game could get any closer, (notes terran flagship) Yeah, it probably is as close to star trek without the ships as it is so modding it more so is not to much of a suprise
I here that this can be blamed on stardocks minor modification of drivers in order to more fit its own games, (or that somehow stardock should infact take responsiblity) anywho, I have heard that unistalling the stardock central system, then reinstalling the game may fix this issue, (I think, I forgot but it is a post somewhere in the forums here)
When I was playing on normal, priates appeared around one oif my planets, but they never started anything with me, just sat there, and in truth they weren't all that powerful, I would say that they probably at the tech level of say a ship with photons and phasors, but not much more than that, a few good well armed cruisers made short work of them, even with I at I think a level where I was still using stingers and low end plasma weapons. A buddy of mine has this game on his comp, and he's using an Nvidia 4600ti (which I gave him a while back). His textures look nowhere near as nice as the one's on my comp (I use a ATI 9800XT). I'll have to look at his settings, but he probably has his 3D settings set to "optimal performance" while I run mine at "optimum quality".
Cute BB system, but besides the point, I have recenlty picked up this title at a local walmart, the home of all things good in hopes of finding a half decent replacement for Master of Orion 3 which by now is out of date with the rest of the world.
