In Game Graphics

Cute BB system, but besides the point, I have recenlty picked up this title at a local walmart, the home of all things good in hopes of finding a half decent replacement for Master of Orion 3 which by now is out of date with the rest of the world. This game gave me a pleasant surpise, but one thing has annoyned me, and I was wondering if it was simply an ingame option that I am missing, I relize that the engine is intellegent enough to scale graphics according to the card, but I find it hard to belive that I would be seeing the lowest quality graphics (seemingly in comparison with Screenshots I have seen) with an updated 64 mb onboard nvidia card, I don't think that this is a bug of any kind, I could just be missing something, now granted i thank the game for trying to save my speed, but in all seriousness, in comparison with games such as Star Trek Armada Fleetops, it doesnt' seem to be anywhere near the poly count, so I am left to wonder, why can't I see ship textures of any kind, infact just about the only thing I can see is the basic shape and some color striping (according to race color). This is fantastic and all, but I would much prefer atelast the ships be texutred, is there anyway to override the scaling feeature. I guess you could say I am just looking to atleast see what I have built, and it doesn't seem that the game would need that much in terms of graphics processing power, with all due respect, in comparison with other similar games the graphics atleast at the level I have seen in the screen shots should be handalable even by a 64mb card,

Any help

The Poly count? you mean, like the One MILLION poly ship that was imported, and allowed the game to run fine? There is absolutely no poly count. There is no maximum. The only maximum is when your computer gets so hot it CTD's but the new patch has taken care of that issue. The base models are low end because the game is designed for laptops and low end machines, and scaling only does so much. I have to admit though, the lights thing was a bit of a disappointment, it blurs like snow. But poly count means nothing either way.

Make sure all your drivers are up to date, and have the latest patch. Clean your glasses and eat your carrots, oh and maybe you might want to increase the AA to 6 or 8, and what not

Irrelevant.

The game itself has meshes that have a specific polygon count. It doesn't matter that the game allows meshes of varying sizes; the game itself has meshes and those meshes and those meshes have a polygon count. And that count isn't terribly high (though I find it to be sufficient).

i'm pretty sure i read somewhere in a post by a Stardock employee (Brad maybe?) that there was NO max poly count. You can import ships that are a billion polys if you want (theoretically), it's just a question about whether your computer will blow up or not.

full phaser its not an graphic option its a bug you should ; change your windows language to United states ( control panel -> language setting ) and then try to change the tactic zoom level in the game menu, it should work

A buddy of mine has this game on his comp, and he's using an Nvidia 4600ti (which I gave him a while back). His textures look nowhere near as nice as the one's on my comp (I use a ATI 9800XT). I'll have to look at his settings, but he probably has his 3D settings set to "optimal performance" while I run mine at "optimum quality". Something you can check...

*notes self defeating quote feature * sorry, I shouldn't pick on the bb, heh, but more to the point, I was simply stating that the games default ships don't seem to carry an enormously high poly count, I have no intest in impoting anything, and I am using a what I should hope is a windows based computer in English, or United States to be more specific, that is the setting I had it at when I reset the OS a few months back, and It doesn't seem to be the tactical zoom feature, becuase it is an across the board effect, all graphics are "detexturized" in what I assume is a quality control meathod, in preventing an overload,

I am using a Graphics card with I assume the latest drivers, and directx9.0c (Nvidia Gforce 440, if anyone can present the most updated driver, I have as of yet not found one that would be more up to date then mine) but I am left to ask what is the AA or Optimal Quality/Performance setting, I ran Dxdiag and so no such mention
