Actually, Gal Civ 2 has been a huge inspiration in my writing as well. I'll actually sit in the ship builder and create designs and concepts with it. Amazing. You guys were a huge inspiration for me.

I'd rather put points in Morale than Luck or Creativity any day. It's so easy to tech up more powerful ships than the AI.
Problem is, with the way space warfare is, it's easy to get h uge amounts of engines on some ships, bee line towards a capital, steal all their techs, and har har you win.
Why the heck would you ever use an orbital fleet manager? It's perhaps one of the most useless wastes of tiles there is. It is always better to attack then defend, I'd rather get one ship smoked, delay, and then counter with others in orbit or just hit them before they arrive.
Oh.. for the post above. They're going to get planetary invasion either way and it's so easy to stop one of those. Trade it away for big bucks, expecially to the Krox. I agree on Diplomacy techs past Advanced diplomacy. I also agree 100% on medium hulls.
Okay, the AI will only go to war with you if you have a low military rating. Despite the quarterly guy saying that 100 is a good military value, don't listen to him. He stinks. You need to keep up with the top civilization. Don't be afraid of going to war. When you invade a planet you can really get a high end tech. I went from laser 1 to laser IV with a planet capture before. That's a good amount of inbetween tech that you don't need
Playing with the full AI, Intelligent I think it's called? I can never remember the names since I play by difficulty. Tough is the one I'm on. It's on my metaverse thing if I can ever the medals to show. Anyway, it's so easy to beat the AI to them. Take the Federalist + Max Econ bonuses and you can easily afford to buy the constructors that you need. Get a few sensor ships out there and badda boom. The AI seems to almost always take co
I just played my first campaign game... urg.. Sandbox.. please put something in from the sandbox.

Isn't Ensign the lowest one?
I've noticed that. It seems scattered makes a lot more larger Empires. It's what I'm noticing on my Terran game right now.
Psh.. this is what happens when you press X button because you can't remember the names of the difficulty settings
We should just give all the races the same AI, same starting techs, and same modifiers. That is ultimate balance. With the Yor were so good, why would they get slammed by me whenever we go to war, despite them having a stronger military? I play all my games with the full AI, by the way.

I like playing on the larger maps, and it's about time to start a new game as I'm about to hit a military victory. Anyway, what settings seem to produce the best games as far as star densities and all that for you guys?
On my first game I was going for a tech victory and all of a sudden the Yor did this to me. The turned purple in huge explosions. I had notices of a new of my planets rebelling, but I managed to research the last tech for the tech victory with like two or three planets out in the rim still under my influence.
I traded planetary invasion to the backward Krox for a whopping 840 BC.. Wow..
What is the gameplay arguement for no tech-trading option?
