Gerontocracy is good. I will join when (if) I succeed in figuring out these metaverse thingies and contribute lots, seeing as I rarely finish my games. What is a metaverse? What do I do in order to play in metaverses? Which metaverse(s) should I join? Can anyone spare me some Alzheimer medication?

Fix known bugs & issues affecting gameplay and stability (no, I have no stability issues). IMO it is a serious bug that the Save feature is not neutral vs. gameplay...also it explains how I have a very hard time keeping up in the initial colony rush, as I tend to play a few turns at a time.

Before those tabletop Pong & Space Invaders terminals you'd find in bars and such, there were Submarine Sims (or perhaps rather look-in-a-periscope-and-torpedo-teh-enemy sims) in amusement parks...later there was ZX Spectrum and MAZIACS. Still later came the Amiga years, tons & tons of games, and I left all those complicated board games behind, played Empire-Wargame of the Century, and then CIV. I stuck mainly with turn based games (lots of Civ I, II, Alien Crossfire) until Diablo II ca

With Beta 3 (DA 1.59[b].095 the Military/Social/Researcg sliders do not work properly. I started a new game (Thalans, Huge, 9 opponents, Crippling), then locked Research at 100% for some turns. Then when I wanted to set Mil to 33% and Social to whatever let me build the first Basic Factory in 1 turn the sliders jumped between values when switching from Domestic to Civ Manager/Colonies and back again, e.g. setting Social to 33% flip back & forth then it was at 24%. Also some times click

Dre-Dog: EVE is not for everyone, however some people enjoy it immensely. I was attempting to describe some pros & cons for people who wonder if the game is for them. As I said, I left the game (but am still in WoW), others feel differently. Also if I was (hypothetically) on my way to becoming a major league EVE player I'd certainly be worried about thhe issues with EVE devs reputedly cheating in the game. Here is a hypothetical situation for eve

My Stardock Central is in the process of updating GC2/DA. For example, DA is being updated to version 1.59[b].095. As far as I can tell, there is nowhere I can see what this update contains. A forum search on "1.59[b].095" yields no results. I would like there to be an update thread on the forums where one could go to see release notes for updates when the updates become available. Alternatively, if this issue has already been taken care of in some way, will someone please poi

It is possible to play EVE a bit on a casual basis and have fun that way for some months. OTOH, to start experiencing the full potential of the game, it's necessary to join a corp so you get buddies to work and exchange lore with, and also to invest much time so you stay in touch. My last corp was active on several fronts, they did mining, manufacturing and POS'es, and pushed their envelope regarding what they could do and where in space they could go (and survive). This would be imposs

What is the penalty for Yor space? Where can I find it documented Part of the Yor super ability (called "Super Isolationist", iirc). Non-Yor ships are limited to a speed of 3 in Yor space. The ability is documented in the manual, and which ability goes with which race can be seen in the screen where you select which race to play.

The following is not all about economy, I was thinking what is it that make my games work out. This is how I usually do (in DA, slightly different from DL) - play humans on tough on a hooj map - set main spending slider at 100%, adjust taxslider so peopleare like 50-60% happy - purchase a factory, build another factory, a lab & 2 markets, then purchase a scout ship (own design to get a slightly faste

Perhaps this is good place for this suggestion: When a Counter Espionage Center is built on a planet, it should remove any spies placed there before the center was built. Perhaps at the rate of 1 spy/turn?

It appears the issue I reported is really due to a problem with my laptop overheating & occurs also when running programs other than DA Beta 1A. I believe you can safely ignore the bug report in my OP (have also reported this w/issue no. per email), sorry for the inconvenience.

Problem description: Display corrupts, showing rectangular grid of tile-like thingies - this flickers on and off (seemingly) above the proper image. It is possible to keep playing, and even sometimes to make the corruption go away for a short time by eg quicksaving. This has been a problem with 1A only, though Beta 1 made my extra monitor flicker so I had to turn that off. I notice lots and lots of repeated "Debug Message: Popup Manager Update: Updating window with ID=32" at t

Dark Avatar can be pre-ordered for cash...I'd like to use my stash of TotalGaming.net tokens instead (and perhaps get a discount for pre-ordering). Alas, Dark Avatar preordering is not available thru Stardock Central or Totalgaming.net. How come? When will it be fixed?

When the initial planet grabbing phase is over, I often have a few surplus colony ships. I have found no way to offload the colonists on already settled planets...so the colonists are stuck on trhe ships, i.e. they are lost to me. Have I overlooked something?

A Class 20 planet I took had about 7 embassies and 6 entertainment centres. This was the Iconian Refuge home planet and when the war started the borders were far away from it in all directions. Scorched earth tactics or not, this was a waste of money and/or production on the part of the AI. Assume it's scorched earth, then the AI must have quickbuilt some 10 buildings over the course of about 20 turns - I'm not sure the AI had the money for that, and even if it did, why wa

The various panes in the foreign relations window does not necessarily agree on the status of my relations with other civs. EG, my relations with faction A is shown as Friendly in the Relations and the Report tab, but as Close in the treaties tab. When I noticed this, Alliance had become an option when trading with that faction, and after a few turns (where I built my first armed ship) they agreed to ally. But that's incidental, the inconsis

Some other game companies do near-continuous public betas and still manage to sell their games. Instead of not having public beta's, you could change stuff on the website so it would be clear that those crash reports are to do with the beta test.

VladTheImpaler, I think you're right. Trade routes help your standing, trading on the trade screen does too and giving gifts also. In my experience, at least. And iirc you can have up to 13 trade routes - or is it 16? As it always takes ages for me to get the AI civs to wish to ally with me, I might be wrong....

There is no need to build farming so soon, as all it does (iirc) is it raises the population cap. On normal difficulty you could try delaying building combat ships for as long as possible, churn out constructors & freighters instead, reinforce & expand your borders with influence starbases...THEN when you can see you have out-researched the oppo start producing assault ships.

I would like to see starbase ranges of influence displayed on constructors before i build so I can see the area its going to effect. Indeed. It is annoying to construct a starbase, then check the radius and realise you have to move it a tile or two in order to cover more planets.
