Thanks for the info! It turns out that was what was happening.

I've only recently got TA, and just started my second game (first was more of a mess-around, look at new options etc). But in both my games sofar, at least one of the AI has had his diplomacy bar as team. In my serious game, its 5! 5 races on the same team as me! Does anyone know why this happens? I've not deliberately set them as on my team, nor seen any option that puts AI on my team. I'm just playing the vanilla open-ended game, no scenarios or anything that waould cause this.
I Ctrl-N until I get the map I want, or until my game crashes, whichever comes first.
Yes to both questions.
Anybody??
Hi, I'm currently customising a few races, and am having problems with the custom Logos. They appear with a black box in the upper left corner when appearing on the strat map, and when I go to the civ settings screen (the one with morality, ai usage etc) the logo turns into a huge black box that obscures half of the screen. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I could fix this problem? In theory the logos should work, as I've used them in DL (currently running latest version of DA).

Further Edit: I have version 2.0 of Omega Mod working, and have installed the Imperial ship mod in the specified directory, but can't find a way to use the new models. They don't appear as ships for me to build (I am using the Terran ship-style). You have to use the Arceans style to run the new imperial designs or changes the files names and directories to use the imperial ships as a different race.
eldardude, how did you get the ship packs to work? I've put the Imperial Ship pack into the directories specified in the readme, but they don't appear. Do I have to use a specific race shipstyle?

Lol....Thanks it works now...not sure how I overlooked that...
This may sound a simple problem, but where do I put my custom portrait files?? I've tried the most obvious folders in the mods folder (and yes use of mods is enabled in the game), and have managed to get custom logos to work, but not custom portraits.
Dang I never seen these things resolved. Mine crashes when I research shields too. Hmmm....I've just been checking to see if this problem has been fixed, and can't see anything about it being fixed (I would playtest it, but it only appears in 15-20 hour games, which I currently don't have time for), so unless I have confirmation GC2 will
Argh..i really can't type sorry... Anyway, I've had an email from Cari explaining it's a problem with the AI crashing, and that Brad is looking into it. And all i did was to start a new game, then reload my previous game (which bought it a few more turns).
SOryy I've been a bit slow replying, my access to the inet is a bit irregular at the moment. Well, the good news is it no longer crashes at a set place...the bad news is it now randomly crashes. I'll send my savegames to the email address, and I'll try another game and see if thats as bad.
- I'm running the English version - I don't have any mods on, apart from a few custom ships off the library - I've just finished slaughtering the Torians, I led a short but brutal campaign against them with many ships destroyed on both sides. And I've just updated, and the patch still doesn't solve the problem...
I've done that, sent off an exception report. One of my friends has had the problem as well.
I've just updated...and it still crashes just as I research Shields.
Hi I'm running version 1.3 of the game, and it keeps crashing on me. This only happens at a specific stage (I press 'end turn' part-way through the game, and it crashes. I load up the save game previoulsy, and get back to the same turn and it crashes in exactly the same way). Here is my debug.err: Debug Message: Version v1.3 last updated on: Wed Sep 6 18:58:10 2006 Debug Message: GalCiv2 is activated. Debug Message: Checking DX Version. Debug Message: *********
Thanks for the instructions, took me a while to get round to it but I've got it working. The designs looks excellent, and I'm looking forward to installing your BSG one.
I'm using the Imperial Ship Pack, and I'll try your suggestion when I get a chance. here is a pic of the problems I'm experiencing: The other ships are similarly distorted. I'm using the Terran hull set.
Sadly I can't go back down to version 1.1 (haven't got the CD or serial handy) to re-install. But Yes I did have the Omega Mod 1.0 installed as well. But 1.2 has changed the way the mods work with the game, so it's likely that causing the problems.
Hi, I love these ships and the work your doing. I've run into a problem with installing the ships. I've moved all of the files into the correct places, and the ships appear in the game, hoever they are constructed from a different set of components than shown in the screenshots...the same result as if you have a terran designed ship show-up when you are using the Drengin shipset (well, what used to happen anyway). I'm running the latest 1.2 beta.
I'm trying to run the mod in Beta 1.12, but can' seem to get it to work. I put the filed into toe Mods folder, and extractedthe file in there as well, but the mod doesn't register...I have my mods directory set to Default (as, for some inexplicable reason, I can only swithc between that and the Example one)..
As many people have pointed out, there are numerous technical soultions to your problems with this game. Each and every computer, even if it has the exact same hardware build, will be unique and different, therefore any game will never run at 100% on every single computer. There will always be bugs, the best any developer can hope for is to iron out as many bugs as possible. Now, GalCivs2 is one of the greatest games I have played, and ha
