Ah, that's where they're hiding. Ok, I ended up deleting all of the race config files, starte the game, made a new opponent (based of a core race to clarify, sorry), the game CTD'd, restarted the game and haven't had any trouble since. The custom opponents made from in-game are showing up now. Thanks for the help!

I got TotA a few weeks back, but can't seem to create custom opponents. The files are saving, but when I try to load them it won't put them up as an opponent. I can't seem to find where TofA saves these game files and would like to mess with them a bit. Also, does anyone know why custom opponents doesn't seem to work?
I've two types I use. First there is the cargo hull design with 4 modules on board (I can adjust how many troops are brought along), three or four of the best engines I've got, and how ever many life support things I can throw on. This is my primary transport for my military expeditions. Fairly cheap, fast, and carries a lot. Second is my attack transport which is usually based on a large hull, has two modules, two of my best engines, configurable shield/armor/point defenses, configur
Since the forum won't seem to let me edit my previous post... I believe the planetary defense improvements lessens the effect of invasion tatics used against you. So, say that the enemy use orbital bombardment on you and would do 75% damage to your troops before the invasion. The PD imporovment would lessen it's effect by 25%, so now it would only do 50% damage. This is my understanding of it, which may or may not be wrong.
I had a PQ26 (aptly named Citadel) that had both Dregin and Yor bordering with it, and hostile Arceans about a sector away. It is my firm belief that the fleet defense super project and the 2 planet defenses were a major part of my victories against, at times, vastly supirior fleets. Yes, the two advance farms also helped with keeping my soliders up, but I still think the PD's and the super fleet manager were invaluable holding off the many fleets that never made it to the ground. The Yor broke
Who are the Acrecians? My alternate spelling of the Arceans... Gimme a break, I just got back from my 2nd shift job when I typed that.
Had to wipe out Yor, Korx, Altarians and Torians in the same game? Interesting. I'd think that if you went, say, Good, you'd wipe out the Yor and Korx, but the good Altarians and Torians would love you. Thats the thing though, even when I was a 'Good' race, the Torians never got above friendly with me. Actually, come to think of it, I've never be
I was hurting for planets mid game, had about 8 after a costly war and none of them were over PQ15. Then a artifact made all unihabitable planets in a 3 sector radius PQ9. I ended up getting 14 out of 25 or so planets when the rush and influence take overs were done. Help me limp through the game (flipped back and forth between 2nd and 3rd most powerful out of 6 races) and gain a influnce victory.
Yeah, I had to go with the 'join me or die route' also. Of the eight races I had to wipe out the Yor, Krox, Altarians, Torians and Thalans for an alliance victory on normal difficulty. Winning by this route is nigh impossible any more without having to wipeout a civ or three. Usually I can get 1 race to buddy up with early, but they're usually less than usless when trouble arrives or they try to drag me into theirs.
OK, my two cents though it may or may not of have been posted before. If there was to be a carrier of sorts, it would work like this. It would use modules that would be large enough so you only could put one on a large hull or possibly two on a huge one, these things have a set purpose in mind and that isn't direct combat. The effect is it would allow a set amount of tiny and possibly small hull designs to travel with the fleet and the speed and range of the lowest non-carried ship. So,
All time favorte, hands down, is the A-wing. I love my wedge shape beauties. Other than that, the Victory class Star Destroyer, Imperial class Star Destroyer, and the Eclipse/Soverign class Super Star Destroyer (yes the Eclipse is bigger, but the overall design is the same.) A-wing is my all time favorite, but I mostly like Imperial capital ships. Angular, majestic, multi-puropse and powerful!
I was wondering if it is possible to set a patrol pattern with your fleets and/or individual ships. There is this small corridor in which the Drath seem to be able to slip through and chew on my merchants and constructors. I've niether the ships availble (my Torian war is using up my frontliners and forge worlds) or sensor tech to have this area covered and it is quite annoying to have to manually tell you ships to move in a such a realitively small area.
So approval doesn't affect the revolting trigger? Now thats intresting to know! Thanks for the replies all, with that little tidbit of info I got a good idea on a strategy now. For the record, my civ is evil, as in xenocidal evil (specificly Torians), so nothing outside of Tyranny for me! Usually play as a good civ with focus on diplomacy and/or influnce, but as I said, the Torains are annoying me. Any
OK, I made my anti-Torian civ because those suckers have been annoying the heck out of me for the past two games I've played. Anyhow, in my zeal to create a evil militaristic civ I neglected to get any morale bonuses and 5 turns later my homeworld is on the verge of rebellion (52% approval) and the rest are around 68% (not bad really.) I've really limited space on my homeworld, so I've only 1 entertainment network and no farms on the planet and worse yet I've had to divert precious research time
I named myself the Khorvanian Confederacy with Khorvaire as my homeworld... lol, play Eberron much? One thing that I was amazed to see is that none of your "allies" decided to backstab you and attack while you were down, exspecially the Dregin. It seemed like they were in a position to kick you while you were down. I tried to something s
It'd be funny if the US decided to intercept the missle and missed. That'd be a tad embarrasing and has a good probability of happening. Though the pentagon said newer versions of the ICBM (which the test missle basicly is) AMDS's are more realible, the system tested thus far have something of a 25% success rate. As for another Korean war, Feud described the situation very well, so its unlikely to happen.
All I want is more advance diplomacy. Something more than "Here some money and shiny new toys, now give me what I want." Things like fighting (with words and treaties, not star ships) for better trade agreements, have advance territorial agreements (think the dividing up of Africa back in the Imperial era), cosequnces of said agreements later down the line when minor races don't become so minor, and probably many other things I can't think of right now (just got out of work <img src="http://imag
X3 I have. Gets boring after awhile and really needs optimaztion. The intial release was literally un-playable, and even after the release of the last patch (1.4 I bleieve) that optimized thigns a bit and it could run better. Ore Belt, Kingdoms End, and a few other sectors are a no combat zone unless you have some high end equipment on your rig. Turns into a slide show of your doom otherwise. Oh, and the lack of a non-mod multiple missle launching system and the craptacular M6 class have me irk
Unless you had a massive amount of ship going and attack that turn, your computer shouldn't of locked up like that. You most likely have something else running in the background, like a anti-virus scanning or some sort of maleware. Or you could have a really crappy processor, I dunno.
Well usually your ships will only take on theirs one at a time, but with the fleet manager it combines all the ships in orbit. End result is a higher offense and defense rating.
You know, I like cheats. I don't use them often, but when I do its for good reason; I wish to utterly anniliate any resistance. Its a great stress reliever for me to just blow through everyhting once in awhile without having to think about it. Just me crushing everything under my heel and allowing my to play out the oppositions most dreaded doomsday scenarios that simply aren't economical (I won't say impossible) anyother way. If you don't like them, ignore them. Sure people are pathetic
http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp There you go
I've heard of this actually, there is a way to get rid of it through your system files. Can't remember how to do it though, but I'm sure you can google search it.
I know one can turn off the auto focus on the survey ship when it hits anomolies, but you no longer recieve a message on what it found... Few other options similar to, but I don't know if one could turn off the auto focus on ships moving.
Something like the suncrusher from the Star Wars universe... Specially made torpedo makes a star go supernova. If we're going to have that, lets have something that can create star systems too.
