OK, slight thread hijack here. I can't get the AI to sell influence resources, but I have had them give them away to assist in a fight against an enemy. Sometimes I'll get a few ships, worth maybe 500bc and another time I get an influence resource that they wouldn't trade for 70k bcs. Something screwy there. And this was with 1.1 Another issue I have is selling econ bases. I was going for an influence victory and took 2 planets from my ally via influence. There was a

In real International Relations, the Balance of Power theory states (among other things) that the second stronger powers will gang against the the strongest one and the strongest will gang with the weakest in a symbiosis relation. Yes, this does happen. But it makes for a pretty boring game. With equally matched alliances forming (as would ha
This may be wrong but I swear I remember reading something earlier that races with similiar ethical alignment don't "mind" being taken over culturally, or at least don't react to it as a threat. Not sure if that was true, but it was mentioned. Also, the two screens show two different things (I can't see your screen shots so this might not be what you're talking about). One shows your relative value and the other your absolute value. So if
I'm not a Dev, but I did sleep at a Holiday Inn Express last night... From what's been posted here before, it gives you a change at getting the next technology free every time you finishing researching one.
Dear Frogboy, Please contact me so I can give you my address for the royalty checks. In a prior journal response I suggested a ship pack for those of us with more money than creativity who still wanted to run around with some cool ships. If NTP can get $600 million from RIM/Blackberry for patenting the obvious, I should be able to get a free upgrade out of Stardock for the same. Oh and throwing in a stand alone ship editor would rock. <b
I agree with you --- MP isn't a selling factor for me. Since most reviewers are full time game players I think their opinion on this is off. If I sat all day playing games I would want some social interaction as well. But I want to kick back and relax with my games. I play on dual monitor and I'm usually doing something while playing the game. I don't think anyone else would want to wait 10 minutes before I can move because I'm doing work. That being said, I do play MP from time
Radical thought: Resources aren't found but work like "wonder starbases", limited to one per race. Some point along the tech tree will give you the ability to build one of each of these and you can still upgrade them, but to a lesser extent since there could be up to 9 of each type. That way they will be a little spread out among the races and more "fair". oh, you can own more than one of each through conquest, just not build mo
I agree. Influence starbases are the new cheese tactic. step 1. locate resources step 2. build up constructor fleet step 3. buy up what you can step 4. lightening strike wars to take resources then sue for peace. Give anything to end it. step 5. send constructors to resources, watch influence grow and planets start to fall. step 6. Push turn button step 7. Repeat 6 until win.
When making ships, I create templates for each hull type, then upgrade them with the items I want, then save as "Frigate GA-1" to show me the hull type and weapon/armor and that it's the first iteration. So I am often naming ships the same thing I had before and saving over them. With the newest Beta (I didn't play much of the old beta though, so it might be in there) I am getting multiple versions of the "Frigate GA-1" showing up on every screen BUT
One thing that I would bite at is mini-expansions (ala Oblivion, Neverwinter Nights) that would add professionally done hight quality ships. I love playing with them, but am uncreative to the extreme. I'd drop $10 for a download with ships just so the game looked better.
To keep you from doing exactly what you were thinking of doing. On the other hand, you still get the attack bonuses, so you will kill off the population greater using mass drivers even if you don't win. Nice for when you're pretty confident you will lose but want to soften them up or just decimate their tax revenue.
dont believe you get that 700% bonus for building the capitol on it, it has to be a factory or any other class of factory. remeber your first planet colony square produces alot of extra stuff. Capitols mainly focus on % so make sure you have alot of labs on your tech capitol, i have never had this problem. </TABL
either one factory and 3 research of 1 starport and 3 factories. I will often use these to create constructors throughout the game.
i would like to see the weapons actually fire, instead of just one attack with the damage equalling how many weapons of that type you've used. weapons actually firing out of their mounts, not the sides... i.em the one closest to the enemy. Might want to check your drivers and video card --- mi
Actually I have the same thing. When you focus on research, my manufacturing capital outpaces my research capital in research. The manufacturing capital has a 700% resource tile. But obviously since i need to focus on research to get it, I'm losing all that manufacturing.
I blame George W. Bush and publik edukashun.
Maybe it's using them to "store" social construction for faster upgrading later?
That is correct - the average rating is still below tough. Play one game above tough and it will average out to tough. Damn Stardock rounding!
Same issue posted on another thread. 5 tough games, 1 challenging. My medal is still challenging (my first submitted game)
How do you change the "Challenging" rating? I submitted one game at Challenging, the rest at Tough. It even shows in my history that way. Yet I'm still showing the Challenging badge. Also, how do you move up from "Citizen"?

Anyone? What do I need for the spin control? Expert Diplomacy GalCiv Wiki is your friend. https://www.galciv.wikia.com/wiki/Super_Projects
Great start. But is there a more detailed game manual online anywhere? The manual that comes with the game is a little light on information. Where can I go to find out about the more detailed aspects of the game? davidnv --- You stole my avatar! Cheeky bastard!
I'm running the game with 32k of memory from my old Commodore 64 cassette tape drive. I'll be damned if I'm going to let someone like Stardock push me out of the 1980s just to run a stupid game! /humor hammer time...can't stop this
These bases are unbelievably expensive and time consuming As long as he's not flipping your planets with it, wait until he's sunk a ton of money into it, then destroy it.
