This all depends on how far away planets are from you to begin with. Personally, I use the 2 speed colony ship on the lousy planet, unless I can CLEARLY see a better one around. The AI is a lot better with colony ships now, and designs faster ones, so you'll need to utilize faster ones to beat them to good planets anyways. Might as well not waste the slow colony ship as it tries to find a good planet.

I'm pretty sure that the Omega Centre only affects the planet that it's built on... similarly to the Omega defence system... I'm not 100% sure, but it did build it on my tech capital, and noticed no other beaker changes on other planets.

I voted no, because you would have to sacrifice a lot of the fun stuff in the game to make it multiplayer. I like the immersion feel of Gal Civ 2, and I feel that it would be lost in a "fast paced" multiplayer. Also, the poll is extremely leading, because the first respone is "No". Typically in Yes/No questions, Yes comes first... So...

I actually heard about GalCiv2 on the Civfanatics forums. Some people whom I play SGs with had mysteriously disappeared for lengths of time. When they returned and I asked where they had gone, they replied that they were playing GalCiv2. GalCiv2? What's that? Needless to say, I wandered in here, and was immensly impressed with the game. That, along with the stunningly positive remarks from my friends at Civfanatics, led me to buy the game. A

Embarassingly, when I went to the first build of the beta, I feared it would be too hard, so I dropped back down to beginner to see what had changed. Sorry I didn't mention this earlier.

I experienced this problem as well, but only on the first game I started up after installing the beta. The AI did absolutely nothing other than colonize the second planet in their system. I eventually built a large fleet to attack the AI, but when I showed up, there was nothing defending the planet. So I invaded and discovered that the AI had built only 1 tile improvement on the entire planet (homeworld, other than the starport). The bug see

The randomness of surrendering... In one war I had fought against the Terrans (as the Altarians), I had crushed large portions of their military and seized one of their star systems as punishment for them declaring war on me. I then sued for peace taking some backwards tech or something, and left them alone. Two turns later, the Terrans inform me that they have randomly surrendered to the Yor, who are on the other side of the galaxy! Complet

For those that don't know, a sucession game is a game played by multiple players, where each player plays a set number of turns and then passes the save to the next player to continue. I've taken a look at the save files, and they seem solid, so I wanted to know if it would be possible to do this. My main concern in the custom ships, as I don't have another computer around capable of running GalCiv 2, so I don't know if a game with 1 player'

I believe he is talking about that colonization video that you witness when you colonize your first planet. Apparently, since that video plays, you won't get a moral decision for that planet. So if you're evil, and you want to take advantage of powerful evil bonuses with good planets, you should use the colonization video on a low PQ planet and "save" the bonus for a better planet. Although I've never had many interesting moral decision on colonization

I'd have to agree with Romeo on the fleet thing. Ships in orbit around your planet should keep the fleet status. Heck, since they're so close to a home base, they should be allowed to be in a bigger fleet than usual. Wouldn't ALL ships orbiting a planet converge to defend it from an enemy assualt? The attacker already gets first shot, the defender of the planet should get a bigger fleet size. But the risk of leaving planets undefended, and t

Real frustrating problems with the fleets, because I like to stack a heavy fighter fleet on top of a bunch of transport fleets. Sometimes it ends up not being able to move ANY of them. And I can't disband them because all the fleets are sitting there. And I can't scrap them either. So I just have a huge lump of metal sitting in space. Fabulous.

I have this problem too. The scroll buttons on the tile viewer don't work at all. Unfortunate, but I wouldn't have even discovered the problem if I weren't so eager to read Stardock's great descriptions! Running 1.0X.
