My approach is the following: Economic SBs near most planets Military SBs in contested areas or to expand reach of constructors and colonizers Influence SBs near enemy planets you want to revolt or to combat enemy influence oh and Mining SBs I place them near class 0 worlds - doh! thats right they didnt put that in yet.

At the current scale the cartesian grid distorts your perception of distance. Seems to me the problems could be solved with a 1.414 multiplier on diagonal moves combined with much smaller squares and in turn higher ship movement rates. I think if the mesh were small enough the cell shape would not matter. In the current design with some ships that only move 1 or 2 squares the cell shape problems are more pronounced than if your mesh were sized such t
Yup, this bug has forced me to reload many times - very annoying. I did notice that it only happens when fleets are involved. In games before I started using fleets, I never saw it. I believe if you turn on the follow ship movement option, you can at least see your incorrect fleet move (if your eye-brain connection are fast enough that is). Too bad it doesnt show the ship identifier in text instead of having every ship labled "autopilot". This bug s
I'm not too keen on the background fog - not the initial fog before you explore it, but the fog that indicates you can't see that area with your sensors. I think the overall map would look a lot better if the background were mainly the black space with stars. Having sensor range circles would be needed here since currently the fog indicates your sensor ranges. The sensor circles could just be displayed like the influence circles 'cept in a differen
Yup same thing happened to me. "Why are my cruisers getting killed by fighers?" It took me a few turns to figure out that my "cargo" ship crusiers (with no definese I might add) only had 1 hp. Doh!
I've been playing with rare, rare, rare and tight cluster settings; with so few planets each one is strategic. There's still the mad rush to find the habitable ones but I think it makes for a more interesting game than having a planet every other sector. Stations become more important too serving as border patrol stations.
I just had an event where Jupiter became a class 9 planet! Unfortunately, I had some debt bug force me to restart.
