[ Maybe. But on the other hand, the forums, at a casual glance don't seem that "yeehaw" to me. Lots of negativity in there IMO] Brad, Man, LIGHTEN UP! I hate the damn filthy Arceans Here, here. I never hated an AI personality in a turn-based-strategy game so passionately before, which means Brad and the gang are doing something right, it seems Even when
Phew, I tried posting this thread for three times until I finally gave up and posted in someone else's thread, instead, only to see that the forum DID get my posts afterall. OOPS... Anyway, thank you very much for your suggestions, people! I especially liked ChrisGrenard's advice on the ship-trading. I'll try that for sure! Guys, I know th
First of all, let me say that I'm a huge fan of the game. But what troubles me is the aggressiveness factor in the AI. Some like fighting everything, and complain that the AI isn't aggressive enough. Well, I DON'T. There wasn't a single game where one of my neighbouring empires wasn't a huge bully that kept on harassing me, even on gigantic maps. I mean, let me enjoy my empire-building without having to constantly defend myself against a superior foe.<

ignusss, I didn't actually mean you in particular. You're quite alright. I meant the nay-sayers in general in this thread.
Some of us prefer to play the aggressive approach though. So far I haven't had any interest in a diplomatic, influence or research victory and I have always played evil going for a military victory. But the getting there isn't as fun as it should be because of stuff mentioned by me and others. Great! Then help improve it, you actually have the
The thread has contained criticisms of the AI MUCH MUCH more specific than this. Basicaly the people coming to defend the AI have not exposed its weaknesses yet via gameplay. You will eventualy. Then you will be in the same boat as the rest of us of being able to beat the game on at least tough every time.
Fanboys who immediately start screaming blue murder when anyone ventures a criticism of the game may start flaming me now. This fanboy thinks you're not significant enough... I'll enjoy my fine game, you'll all bi*%h and moan and insult other people's hard work all day long. Enjoy. <b
Also, I think the AI needs to be more aggressive. If I play peacefull, they never attack me. Maybe I need to get up to a more difficult level. And also, because they treat each other the same as they treat me, they spend a lot of time just grinding each other down while I sit back and get staged to dominate. <br
Drivers, drivers, drivers. This game is really the most driver-sensitive software I've seen in quite a while
I believe you're over-reacting and only remember what you prefer to remember. I know for a fact that the AI is tough and it's quite challenging. This game's mechanics can get quite complex, compare it against any other game (including other turn-based-strategy games) and you'll see that it's a great AI. Sure, it's got some flaws, show me something that doesn't, but "The emperor's new clothes" is definitely not the case here. You beat the AI a few times
good patch, but it's not yet enabled NO TECH TRADE OPTION.Please devs hear the cry of people which don't like tech whoring (we are a lot) !!!! Dude, read first, shout later. -"No Tech Trading option". Good enough for you? <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Wink.gif" borde
What can I say. As a hard-core gamers, I played alot of games. Sometimes I felt the games were really good, yet somehow I could enjoy playing them. Sometimes I enjoyed games that I knew were really horrible. It's all a matter of personal feelings. Sometimes you just can't enjoy a game, no matter how hard you try, and that's that. Sometimes you pass judgment about it way too soon, only to realize you kinda like it at the end. This game is like any other to that extent. You might not li
True, you can ally pretty easily even when you're evil. And if all you enjoy is getting better at other expenses, then by all means, be my guess. But like I said, when I feel like playing a nice master-diplomat, I enjoy the goody-two-shoes approach. I prefer something like: Diplomatic and/or research victory with a nice quiet gameplay - Good A huge, back-stabbing, branching trading empire - Neutral War-mongering or hostile tak
Oh, shush. When you get lucky-rangers, it's because you're much weaker than rest of the galaxy. They won't help you when the huge fleets are coming, trust me. Massing them as fleets require a huge bonus to logistics, so their main use is defense, coupled with planetary fleet managers. They might help you survive enough to get a peace treaty, but nothing more. I need those lucky-rangers from time to time, as many as I could get. I almost never win the g
christian97470, you're the proof that whoever thought about adding font size and color should be shot
It doesn't matter. If he bought the game and came home and it crashed on him then he has every right - even a duty really - to yell loudly about it. It's unacceptable and it's my game. I don't think -- or let me put it this way -- I know the game isn't buggy in the general sense. But let's face it, we know for a fact that the shipping retail game -- the 1.0, had the
Why is this an exploit? I'm not really into fighting stuff all day long just to improve my ships, but since you are, and you enjoy doing that just to improve your ships, you should be rewarded for doing that, which makes it fun, don't you think? It's another aspect of the game.
Bah, that's the extent of you working together!? United you could make the hands down deepest bestest TBS ever! I wonder if a mod with civ's sdk could help unite certain features... No thanks, I'm really not such a big fan of Civ games. Civ 1 was excellent, but then it all went downhill for me. I admit that Civ4 was better than Civ3, but not by
....when I'll get my hands on those Starforce, I'll......Oh, you changed the topic Way to go, as usual! More 4X goodness for everybody!
Well, good and evil are both viable options, actually. Good has just easier time acquiring friends and creating united fronts. I sometimes like playing good for the sake of being good, while feeling virtuous, and pretending to save the galaxy from those evil races, as the wind blows my cape around my shoulders
PC gamers are increasingly mainstream, and the 'geek' is becoming a quickly irrelvent demographic Unfortunately, agreed...So sad, really. Starforce is the future All Hail Starforce!
Scumbag509, downloading a game is really easy. It's not really what makes the game worthwhile, though. It's the regular updates and free content that you can't easily grab if you don't buy the game that makes the game worthwhile. So basically, as protection software goes just like anything else in life, it appears that you DO catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. SmackleFunky, and you can take that to the bank <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Ew.gif" borde
If you go to a piracy-preventing's site and post "har har, your piracy-prevention stuff sucks", and gets a torrent link spread to the four corners of the Earth... I find nothing wrong with showing a torrent that says "yeah." The only problem is that these torrents show nothing. Do you want to see how many people download cracked versions and im
