Oh....That's not good. That's not good at all. Unless I'm missing something here, it appears your designs really are lost for good. Sorry.

I love this business model Bean Books are the book industry's version of stardock They give you FREE, COMPLETE books see [url/] Link[/url] for their version of [CD copy protection doesn't stop piracy] Nice! I especially like his whole explanation about enforcing extreme regulations: "Any cure which relies on tighter regulation of
Your designs are safe and sound. In your newer games you don't have the technology that you used to design those ships yet, so they don't show up. Climb up the tech-tree again, and you'll soon see them, don't worry
I just returned from another game. This whole aggressive expansionist approach is tiring me. It doesn't matter if I'm winning or losing, I can't play this approach for more than 20 minutes at most. I conquer a planet - take a break. I'm losing and can't break through the planet's defenses, I take a break. I really don't like it that much.... I would rather prefer to evolve my owned planets, build
Chrestomanci, the same can be said about diplomacy or military bonuses. There should be more viable options to succeed in this game other than buffing-up the diplomacy or expanding like crazy. I support it, we need some alternatives. Let us succeed or at least hold our own even if we fail the colony-rush. Thanks!
Either you're all lying, or I'm doing something wrong (I'm willing to bet on the second, though ). I've created a really strong military faction and expanding like crazy. Or at least trying to - in almost every game, I NEVER find more than the first two habitable planets that are always in the starting system (by the way, Stardock, would you mind randomizing it a bit? starting with a 10 and 4/3 planets all
Go Away. Period. Play your MOO2, and leave us alone with your dribble. I've had it up to here with people that come to any game's main forum just to slant the game. You like it? good, play it. You don't? Return it and be quiet. I have no idea why the fans even bother to rationalize themselves to this kind of people. MOO2 rocks. GalCiv2 rocks. These are both very different games in their core. Now go away.
Guys, it's a known fact that when you grow, your little hardcore-supporting-community changes for the worse. Face it - people like to complain, people like being nasty, and on the internet, people usually behave like maniacs. I don't know why, I guess it's because they think they're anonymous, because they're hiding behind a nick-name and so they can say or do whatever they want. You cannot deal with these people. You just somehow cannot ignore them complaining and insulting your baby
The game is more than great, the series as a whole is more than great, but there is something that always bothered me about it: where's the support for the little guy? What I mean by that is that the old hopeful solution for a player who isn't militaristic/expansionist in nature is a huge boost in diplomacy. While this is great and all, I think we need a different approach as well. You see, I always get creamed. If I don't pick a huge diplomacy boost, I'm kaput before I even press the
docbates7, this is not a flame - you're being unfair here. Most devs just plain and simple ignore you altogether and basically tell you to stick it. This is not Blizzard, where they have about 1400 people just on the tech-support. Cut Stardock some slack and understand that these guys are really Indie and small. They've hit the jackpot with this amazing game, so they do have to adapt as fast as possible, but until they do, cut them some slack. You're angry, that's understandable. I wa
Frogboy/Draginol, you're taking it too seriously. Really. Customers are selfish jerks. Period. You know it, I know it, and everyone else know it. I'm sure that when you're buying something, you don't even realize that sometimes you behave like a regular customer, and you don't even see it. That said - I know this is your baby, but you REALLY need a Forum-Moderator and let yourself relax. You deserve it. You've all made an excellent game, leave the annoying jerks to be handled by some
Something like Sid Meier's (or should I say Bryan Reynold's...Sid, you thief ) Alpha Centauri would be great. -"Erm, fellow Drenging, I need you to vote for me in the next meeting" -"Only if you sacrifice your newborn to us, pinkskin"
Great Mirror: Glad we were able to help. What turned out to be the specific issue? I'm not sure. From all the things that I think might make a difference was maybe that I thought about updating my GPU driver from 81.95 to 81.98. Or was it increasing my pagefile to 4 GB? Nah, I guess it was the driver thingie <img src="http://images.stardock.co
Actually, I have to agree. The "peaceful" empires sometimes tend to gang up on you even more than the "evil" ones. But since I'm mostly a diplomat, I manage to straight things out But really, Stardock, after you nail all the bugs, consider adding an "aggressiveness bar". I don't want to swim in blood every game that I'm not playing with a great bonus to diplomacy. Thanks <img src="http://image
Thanks alot, Citizen OldDocc! I appreciate it! But thanks to the frog-master here, the game runs like a charm now. Not a single crash whatsoever. The game is amazing, and was more than worth the initial frustration! Sorry for the trouble I caused <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_
You keep saying this. I'd love to see the reasoning behind this. Last I checked just because a house (parliment) or legislature (representative democracy) change party majorities doesn't mean the executive is automatically removed That's right. But this is a turn-based strategy game. It rewards good gameplay, and "punishes" bad gameplay. Your c
Ermm, how about not annoying your voters in the first place? It's really not that difficult, you know. Just don't over-populate by restricting your farms are even decommission farms on planets that have a bad approval rating, and be careful with your taxes, and that's it. And there are alot of ways to get 60%-70% tax rate in the late-game and get above 90% approval ratings, I've done them myself at normal difficulty level. I even watched as the people on the street said my 65% tax rate is fair a
It all depends on what type of player you are. I'm a passive-tanker. Which means I always love to defend and research everything, and then build a huge fully teched-up army and crush the enemy. Unfortunately, GalCiv2 (and Galciv1, for that matter) do NOT allow my type of player to win militarily, at least not just by military means. The problem with military victory is that you simply cannot let your guard down - you always have to press on the attack. The AI is relentless and brutal, you have t
Ugh...That's rough I'm sorry that it didn't work out for you. I guess it depends on many factors. Well, Stardock is certainly not Blizzard, what can you do...I know, I'm allowing myself to talk this way just because MY problem was solved, and it's unfair. I understand your frustration, I hope I had more to help. Maybe in future patches the show-stopping bugs will be gone for more and more peopl
That's weird... I discovered that I had 81.95 version of the Nvidia drivers instead of the 81.98 drivers (about a month between the releases), so I installed the newer ones and increased the page file to 4 Gigs, and then I reloaded an older save game and it crashed again. And based on what you said here, I started a new game with the "debug" option on and just messed around with it for about 10 minutes. No crash. I rubbed my eyes, and said to myself: "that must be because I
Thank you ver much for trying, Brad, I really apreciate it! But I already have about 2 Gigs of page file and 1.5 Gigs of RAM. It'll try increasing the page file to 4 Gigs and see if that helps. But thanks alot again!
Are you running any other software? You know, virus scanners, software firewalls, distributed computing, etc Oh, please. I'm tolerate and everything, but yeah, multiple users who obviously know what they're talking about and know their way with PC's just happen to forget turning off their background utilities. I know you're trying to help, and
I just wanted to add that this is not an old GPU driver issue, and this is not GPU over-heating (I monitored it in-game with 3rd party software and regular GPU checks through the driver's menu), and it usually happens to me in mid-save every 3 or 4 saves. I'm a bit disappointed with Brad's comments on these forum. I know, the nagging nay-sayers are a bunch of ungrateful and spoiled jerks, but don't treat the rest of us like them and please try to help. Thanks again.
I agree with yout frustration. There are apparent and major glitches in the interface (I'll stick them in the new glitches thread once I'll remember them all) the game just crashes repeatedly when I try to save (and it ruins the savegame file) and it's really not the smooth experience I had with GalCiv1. I kept lurking a year ago in this forum, and reading everything the great Draginol was saying with great enjoyment. I wanted with all my heart to just get the game in sing in praise for Stardock
Please understand that I'm NOT trying to say that the game is not good, and that this is not some sort of spoiled and ungrateful behavior. Please try to help me, because this game is the bes
