Try under \My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2 directory. There is a PREFS.CFG file that stores video and other game settings. There is a section called [Video] DisplayWidth=1024 DisplayHeight=768 Try some of the different screen settings your computer can handle. I had a similar problem when I tried 1600x1200. I reduced to 1024 x 768 and it worked great afterwards. Hope this helps. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_

I've haven't had that problem. During the later part of the game I have had to watch my social level because it takes forever to build planetary improvements. In fact when I look at the queue it seems that there are 20 things being updated at once. Hence why I asked the question to automate or not to automate. I too have been moving certain updates like manufactoring up the queue. i have noticed that once I delete all the updates from the queue th
They say experience is the best teacher. Being new to the game (and didn't play GalCiv), and in the process of playing my first gigantic galaxy (long game), I've noticed as the game progress, my planets are upgrading all my previous planet improvements through the auto govenor option. I know this is a preference in micromanagement but for those who have been playing the game for a long time, do you use auto govenor or do micromanage each planet? P.S. My only complaint about the game thus far,
Thanks Citizen H3lmut and Governor Darth Griffin. Deleting the file worked for me.
Thanks. That did the trick. I can play the game again.
Hi folks: Does anyone know the file that contains the information about options you have previously selected when changing game settings (ie. in particular video) and/or creating a NEW GAME to play(i.e. a CONFIG file)? I'm trying to resolve two issues: 1. It would seem I picked a screen resolution that was inappropriate and as a result I can no longer see the full screen/menu options when I start my game. Making difficult to do anything. 2. While modding, I have been chan
Point well taken SmackleFunky. I've been playing at the lower levels and the AI alien species and I have had good relations. They have never asked about my build up of ships. That's why I'm wondering if the AI set at a higher level if it pay more attention to a build up of arms within a species influence area. I'm sure a human player would ask as they see some ships coming and try to prepare some defence. Furthermore, I hope my suggestions don't seem like complaints. I have to be honest, I

Being new to the game, when you change difficulty levels to more difficulty settings does the AI react differently to approaching war vessels or the same as easier difficult levels?
I would also agree with 4verse. I don't think a real player would simply watch war ships approach his homeworld and colonies without asking what the other's players intentions were. The AI allows for a build up of enemy troops near a world you are about to conquer and doesn't say anything at all. You can take it one step further, It allows you to attack all the planets that a species has and conquer that species in one shot by allowing a build up by everyone of their planets at the same time
While defensive in nature, they do seem to have a big impact on the game against the AI. Since I am new to the game I noticed that a military starbase built in enemy territory is attacked on a regular basis. Sending a fleet of constructors in at one time (6 or 7), I could quickly upgrade it in one turn. The AI did not take a liking to a military starbase so close to one of its planets. As a result, it kept sending ship after ship to try to destroy while I kept upgrading it. This allowed me
Great game. Never did play the first and have gone through tutorials and recommendation of playing a smaller universe to start off with. Forum also a great help. Thanks everyone. Can't wait till the mods start rolling out. Something I have noticed on the forum and in game, Starbases are very important. However, they are stationary and cannot move. They influence other species and help support ships within their effect radius. I noticed that enemy ships can pass by them without being atta
Can Starbases move?
