I added the Conglomerate of Zod mod, and it seems to be working, except that when I speak to them in trade, all the fields are blank. Does anyone know what I might have done wrong?

Well, since what I'm working on is to be a race, I've started by downloading custom race mods. Much to do...
Thanks Kryo, That's all useful info and you make it seem almost simple. Thanks Zyxpsilon, I would agree that seeing how it has been done successfully by others is a good place to start. And obviously, if it were easy, there would be no need for these forums. I'm at the point where minor tinkering is no longer what I want, and I'm trying for thorough comprehension, and it seems a somewhat daunting place on the learning curve.
Thanks in advance if anyone can help me, as the confusion I'm having about this is making it so I can't figure out how to mod as I would like. I mostly just like to make custom races and tweak their artwork for flavor. My game seems to be drawing data from numerous folders, and the modding tutorial I just looked at made no mention of many of these, leaving me a bit confused. There is the folder in My Documents. My Games contains folders for both GalCiv2 and GC2TwilightArnor. The
Thanks for the post, Cypher. Great to see that people are still enthusiastic about this game. I have played the game numerous times, but never really mastered it. I've set it aside for months at a time, but I am always drawn back by the feeling that I might have had an insight into how the ecomomy really works in practice - and how I can finally grow my empire at a good and sustainable rate. Even though I've learned quite a bit, I still feel like a beginner - I simply cannot match the
I understand that stuff happens, but since the developer stated that downloading Impulse was necessary for updating ToA, everyone who downloaded Impulse has reason to feel that their time has been well and fully wasted. Many people discussing this issue in the forum seem (and i'm not criticizing them , mind you) to enjoy quashing IT bugs every bit as much as they do playing the game itself, which is fine, but if, like me, you do not - then
(in response to damncrackmonkey) I think some of your math is a bit off. x500% is the same as x5.
EA has always been willing to sacrifice anything - even its own reputaion - for the quick buck.
I've only played a few games of TotA, and I just met the Jagged Knife for the first time. I had expanded more rapidly than my opponants, and was hit very hard. It made me mad, but it did draw me deeper into the game - and ultimately, it secured my victory, since it allowed me to take a huge number of planets by force without anoying anyone.
SMAC remains one of my favorite strategy games, alongside Rome:Total War, Master of Orion II, and Civ:Beyond the Sword. TA needs a little more work, but I hope it will make that elite group eventually.
Yes, MOO2 was perhaps too population dependent. Thanks everyone for the ideas. A lot of the problems of population seem to be off-setable by more ways than I had considered, but I generally play somewhat densely packed universes where it would just be foolish to expect to grab 4 morale resources. Of course I understand the reasons for not taking the class 4 planet that Franco mentions, but in the games I play, the overwhelming b
Population provides your tax base, and money-improvements increase this by a percentage, as in most 4X games. Why, I wonder, are research and production not calculated the same way? As a strategy gamer, I am in favor of whatever makes for a more interesting game dynamic, not necessarily what it is the most "realistic." But the ability to buy 4 factories and a starbase on a planet, and then see that planet cranking out constructors or warship
I concurr. I don't understand the reason for it, but out of the incalculable number of computer strategy games I have played over the last 20 yeears, GalCiv 2 is probably the most fun to lose. Getting an ass kicking from the Altarans? Rock on, bro.
Just a random thought, but why not post the skeleton of a strategy guide and allow users to modify it Wikipedia style?
