I have had no problems with GCII DA, crashing, or becomeing unplayable. I am using a celeron 1.2 processor, 1.5 meg memmory, and geforce 5700 256 graphics card, and I play large universe, with 9 opponents. I turn down some of the eye candy if I want to play a quick game, but If I want to get immersed into the game, it is high graphics, and zoom in close, and take my time. Oh, and I turn off the internet, before I begin playing, to free up resources.
At this point I either zoom way in, so there is less space to render, and fewer ships to render, or zoom way out, to the Icon level. Late game, with the eyes of the universe, I can expect 3 to 5 minutes between turns, even at the Icon level. Oh well, I do have an older celeron, with a gforce 5700, and 1.5 meg main memory.
I have found that leaving the governer on for the planets works, so long as I go in and rearrange the order of the build que. My build order on a new planet is factory, (buy if possible), econ, starport, factory, research....then I speciallize that planet. Also, I have found grabbing groups of planet, regardless of size is a better stratagy, as I can build starbases that cover the entire group of planets to increase manufacturing, and since starbase bonus manufacturing does n
I play as a neutral civ, and have not seen this bug. My PQ 1's terraform into 16's all the time, and the population limit goes up right along with the developing planet. I always research the ethical alignment also, so that as soon as I research a terraforming tech, all tiles become available. Sure saves on build times. Now the Yor did manage to invade and capture one of my jewels, (a PQ1 terraformed). I spied on the planet the next turn, and before the invasion, I had 12 usu
The "Q" from startrek...extreme influence and manipulation The Dominion from Deep space nine...
Actually you don't have to pull it out, look over to the left of the middle panel at the bottom of the screen, and it will have a button that says build, or improve, depending on if the asteroid feild is already being mined.
I always invade with more than one troop transport, and I DO NOT loose all the transports when I win. If the transports hold 1000 legions, I keep one transport for each 1000 legions left over after the battle....Makes assured winning easy, without destroying the planet. I had never thought about putting a troops module on anything but a cargo hull...I will have to try it.
Online relationships are very real. Loosing a friend is hard, but remeber the great person that he was. there are fools, and then there are friends, and online, or in person, it is the interaction and friendship that makes it real.
B1. have not seen this problem, I always get notified on the right hand side of the screen about every event, if a ship is built, and when the colony is not building anything. B3 is an annoyance and needs to be corrected. B4 why do you go back to the main display? just double click on the planets name in the colonies management screen and it will take you to the planet, let you do what you want to do, and return you to the colonies management screen. A1 all depends
If us earth people every want to survive in the great galaxay, we must become a united planet, with one government, otherwise some weak race with little more than hyperdrive and lazer 1 will conquor the planet we call home, and we will be no more.
Even Homeworld type commands would be nice...Defensive stance, offensive stance, neutral stance, Different formations, and a choice to either destroy the most ships in the opposing fleet, or go after the largest most powerful ship first, until destroyed.
If A frieghter has reached a planet, and you click on that planet that turn, it will act as if the planet and the frieghter are stacked ships, and there is no way to access the planet screen. No notification of an enemy surrendering to another race....just notice it on the minimap.
You can build a trade route with econ starbases, and only upgrade the trade module. Takes 4 constructors, giving a 60% boost to frieghter income along the route. Works while at peace. Placing starbases in the territory of another race, can be tricky, and I have found if I put it near a star that is not inhabitated, then they do not get upset, and I get the trade income boost as the frighter passes through.
Your Battleship only gets to fire once, and takes out only one wasp regardless of how powerful it is. I get 28 shots to your one. Regardless of how powerful you are on each ship, I will take your ship out with a my wasps. I am not talking about tiny hulled ships with an attack of 1, but with attack of 24 each. It is you who wants to set and wait for 40 minutes while the computer calculates all the AI moves...using your chess analogy. 5 minute wait in chess is acceptable, but not in str
Your Chess analogy for the AI is so far off base. First problem, 1 oppenant, while GC has up to 8. In Chess waiting 5 minutes for the computer to plan its next move is okay. In GC waiting for 5 minutes for each AI to compute its next move, well that could be 40 minutes between turns. I would not want to play. Chess has 64 squares to compute, all visible at all times, with limited number of possible moves...ie pawns move 0ne space and one direction...bishops can only move on the diaganol... while
You doNOT need 100% moral, 75% moral gives one a population growth, while producing more taxes to support more building or more military. Putting effort into trade not only helps with your economy, but by picking your trading partner(s), you can turn them into allies. Building economic starbases improves production on the planets in the radius, and you only pay for 50% of the cost of that increase in production, so in the long run the starbases does improve the overall e
Funny how the people who want to jump on the I hate Bush bandwagon and blame him for the rise in gas prices. Americans are a reactive bunch, and nothing ever changes until it affects the individuals pocketbook. With that said, the largest oil reserves are NOT in the middle east. The abraska oil sands in Canada holds more oil than all of the middle east. The recent discovery and ability to extract oil in the deep gulf of Mexico increases the reserves even more. Then add in the new techno
Microsoft has NOT developed a single application on its own. They are a marketing giant. Every program that Microsoft now holds the distribution rights to was once owned and developed by another company. Due to business owners wanting to extract every last drop of use out of their investment in computer hardware and software, every new OS has to be backward compatable, which they are not, and they continually write software to protect the user from themselves, which cripples the power user and
I personally love tech trading. Great way to build up an alliance with another race, that comes in very handy later. I play at tough. Every time an AI fights a war, they adjust their weapons, so the differences between races blurrs. Tech trading is not the only reason that they will look similar. Captured tech from invasions also help a lot. People who do not want tech trading, are those zenophobes who only want to research what they want to research, and not be bothered with the oth
multi player works great in the first person shot games, but not in turn based games. A trun based game is not about speed, it is about the choices you make now, that affect what you do later. And having an AI attack you when you least expect it is a great thing. The AI is good in GC2. I do not want multiplayer, I will not pay for multiplayer, and I do not want stardock to develop multiplayer. I would rather they spend their limited resources on improving the AI and the UI.
Sorry Alfonso, but I disagree with your script of build order for a class 12 planet. Yours is a very bad script, and would not work for my style of play at all. A better Script, subject to change is Buy Factory, Trade Building, gotta get that economy going to support all those factories, then a starport, then a lab, get the research up, then from there it is what I want. Who needs entertainment to keep a population happy early in the game. So frogboy is correct in keeping
NO, Sending constructors to the starbases is a good game balance, so that you have to choose, build a constructor, or build a fighter. Useing rally points for constructors makes it much easier to manage their movements.
This is a turn based game, not real time, and even though I play on an older machine, Celeron 2.0, I would not mind waiting a minute for the AI to do it's thing each turn. Right now there is very little wait time between turns, the longest wait time is when I get the eyes of the universe, and the graphics have to up date with each move of a ship, and with many fleets of ships moving, both mine and the enemy, it is very slow.
Simple fix...name your ships like this HFb6-7-p2. This is a Heavy Fighter, beam weapons of 6, speed of 7 point defense of 2. These are the base numbers from the build screen. Then when I go to upgrade, I know how much of a change I have made, before I save the upgraded design.
