Ship Design Upgrade

Why can“t the old values and abilities of a ship remain in parathesis, when you upgrade a ship? this would be helpful when you do a minor upgrade and want to compare the new design with the old one. with a poor memory you often forget some vital components on the new one. i think this might be a easy but helpful to do in the game.

You mean the option in your setup where you can select if an update should keep all components or not?
It's there since about beta 2, so the final 1.1 contains this option.

no, i mean the numerical values, that are displayed on the infoscreen of a ship when you select it. often you remove some/all of components and change to new ones anyway.

ex i have reschearced new engines and lasers. then i upgrade my fighter, who have 5 movement 4 beam attac, 2 defence, first i have to remove all the old components, then start to add the new engines and weapons. if the game saved the previus numerical 5,4,2 (and the other values, cost, distance and so on) and displayed them next to the current indesign value. it would be a fast way to compare if my new ship is going to be much better then the old one.

I've just been putting the important values in the description when I build ships, so I know at a glance what they do.

Simple fix...name your ships like this HFb6-7-p2. This is a Heavy Fighter, beam weapons of 6, speed of 7 point defense of 2. These are the base numbers from the build screen. Then when I go to upgrade, I know how much of a change I have made, before I save the upgraded design.

Thanx, thats a smart solution my thick head didn't figure out on its own. i shall try it in my next game, i just hope there is room to write long names.. i assume it goes for planets to, it would be useful to rename them to abilities or maplocation also.

byebye to all my innovative shipnames, may they rest in peace, fighter1 fighter12 fighter123 fighter12345.........
