@Cauldyth I know, I was just teasing zigzag :) I know what he means. I also didn't like playing DW vanilla. RotS (and now Legends) fixed most of my issues with the game, and I know that many other people's also. But of course that may not have been enough for everybody, and I respect that.
You're not trying as much as you should to like Distant Worlds zigzag Yes, I know where you stand (we've discussed this before), and surely you'll have your reasons. But believe me, I hated the experience when playing Distant Worlds vanilla. Now with Legends I'm just sad not to have enough time in my hands to play it through the night as in the good old MoO2 days. I've tried. But to quote an elec
juryal and Cauldyth have said it all already but I'll add my 2 cents since you ask.
Hello there. I also enjoyed reading your review (although at times I found it a tiny bit too verbose -- I mean this merely as constructive criticism! Sometimes less could be more, but that is merely my opinion.) You did a good job, only very few typo
I'd definitely buy the expansions if the original game was better, but now I probably won't. I doubt I'd enjoy them if I didn't enjoy the first iteration, and even if I maybe would, that's a risk I'm just not interested in.
Believe me, it's possible to love Distant Worlds expansions even when you hate (or let's say, you don't have fun) playing the original. This is a single
I'm still waiting for a bundle. Edit: Nvm, I still had distant worlds on Impulse. When I played it, it was kind of shite. I'll try again without the expansions. I like your review style, by the way. A concise overview of major features, and some criticism/suggestions at the end.
Thanks for your words Heavenfall, I really appreciate you liked the review.

I just finished my review of Distant Worlds: Legends . For the ones which are not yet familiarized with Distant Worlds (which I doubt will be many) Legends is Distant Worlds' 2nd expansion pack. Distant Worlds is a 4X space strategy game of the same style as Master of Orion 2, Galactic Civilizations, Space Empires, Star Trek BOTF among many others 4X sp
Game Idea for Brad (Stardock): How about Master of Orion IV in a couple of years. I think this is a complete no-brainer. Huge fan base, huge crave, no marketing need. I eard some time ago that Stardock acquired the Master of Orion rights from Atari, is that right?
Moo2 was not the holy grail, Moo was. Though I agree with adam, DW just didn't have it for me, and though I bailed long before the expansion, I could not get excited to try it again because the first brush just didn't do it for me. Which is odd, because I liked Moo3 (after user patches and mods) and I like the idea of automation and playing at a macro level. DW just wasn't fun or engaging, and the fact that it has thos
Here we go. @the_dingle
But some things, like the fuel system and private sector I think are polarizing instead of just flat out bad.
The fuel thing is more bad implementation than bad design decision, I grant that. But I'll check the expansion to see if that is better now. The private sector thing ... I didn't like it, but I'll make another shot in the expansion review.
Comparing it to MOO3 though
Finally did the Distant Worlds Review: http://www.spacesector.com/blog/2011/02/distant-worlds-review/ I'm looking forward for your comments on this because I still have the feeling that I must be missing something due to the fact that some people found this game to be great. I simply don't get that. I've been playing Sci-fi strategy games for more than 2

After playing so much Civ5 I think it was time to make my review on my blog: http://www.spacesector.com/blog/2010/12/sid-meiers-civilization-5-review/ Feel free to criticise, correct or comment, specially on the section about the changes from Civ4 (what was removed and added, for sure there are many things I could not remember). I think I will not keep playing, I'll wait for the
@ BlindMindStudios Seen the tooltips for buildings, nice! Keep up polishing the game guys, and please give more information on Research. Expand the current tutorial with a few more entries to explain how links work and Research in general. I have a feeling that SR Research is great, its just poorly explained to the player.
I'll state that the review is accurate for 1.0.0.6, I forgot about that.
Fixed :)
Hi everyone! I decided to make a review to the latest 4x space strategy game out there: Star Ruler. Check out my Review at SpaceSector.com: http://www.spacesector.com/blog/2010/09/star-ruler-review/ What are your impressions about the game? Cheers Adam Solo
Full-time development of Horizon started in 2001 and stopped in 2006 due to financial reasons. The game has been in alpha (playable but not feature complete) since 2006. Raffi plans to return to full-time development within the next 6 months and to continue working on getting all the features completed. They don't plan to release a public demo at this time.
Hi there, recently I published an interview I did with Raff Parsekhian (Designer and Producer of Horizon) at SpaceSector.com. Here is the link: http://www.spacesector.com/blog/2010/08/interview-with-horizon-designer-and-producer-raffi-parsekhian/ Looks like they are still far from completion but from what I see sounds promising. Enjoy!<
Hi there, Came across another space strategy game under development the other day, it is called Horizon . It will be a turn-based space strategy game set in the future where humans have just begun exploring outer space. You kinda like can say that the missions are like a campaign since you cannot jump scenarios, you have to start from the tutorial and then go from there. And yes, its basically "enemy has X ships, go get them" kind of style. Although some scenarios are special in the sense that due to spatial anomalies they disable shields, halve range or speed or limit the amount of modules, stuff like that.
Hi everyone! Currently I've been playing Gratuitous Space Battles and decided to make my review of it at SpaceSector.com. Check it out: http://www.spacesector.com/blog/2010/07/gratuitous-space-battles-review/ Cheers Adam Solo Admin of SpaceSector.com<

I invite you to read a Distant Worlds first iImpressions I made at SpaceSector.com: http://www.spacesector.com/blog/2010/01/distant-worlds-a-new-real-time-4x-space-strategy-game/ The idea will be to write a review when DW gets out. That is scheduled for the 23rd of March I think.
The Civilization series is probably one of the best that PC Gaming has ever known. Ask any strategy gamer about it and the odds are that he has played at least one of the Civilization titles during his gaming life time, or at least a Sid Meier’s title (Railroad Tycoon, Alpha Centauri, Colonization, Pirates and many more). I invite you to read my Preview of Civilization 5 at SpaceSector.com: <a href="http://www.spacesector.com/blog/2010/03/sid-meiers-civilization-v-preview/"
