Hey, are you dissing pasty-faced basement dwellers? They are a key demographic in many niche markets, including strategy games.

But if you want it done right...do it yourself. Right? Design and program your dream game. That doesn't seem any less realistic than someone such as myself getting someone else to successfully make my dream game.
Well, folks, I enjoy playing GalCiv2. I'm glad Stardock put it out. Slim pickens otherwise. So, since you're feeling a little unloved, Brad, Thank You! For myself, I see little need for further updates. The game seems complete to me. Updates are your form of 'copy protection', so maybe there's a little need. I wouldn't know. I think we've all been in forums long enough to know that online communities sometimes get overwrought and posters sometimes get a little full of themselves. Tone is
I voted yes, but that would of course depend on the size and quality of the bundle.
Instead of multiplayer, which holds zero interest for me, I would like to see an in-game galactopedia, comprehensive game editor, custom soundtrack support (please), more 'jewelry', more portraits, the ability to start a game with every system explored and colonized (evenly) and a certain number of tech's researched, I would also like an enhanced planetary invasion module that didn't rely on reflex and had more options for the player. Yes. I would like this and buy it. <img src="http://images.
I have no interest at all in any form of multiplayer for GC2. I respect the fact the there are those who feel quite differently, but multiplayer is not what keeps a game on my hard drive. For example, I'm still playing Neverwinter Nights (a pretty darn old game) and I do enjoy the benefits of being online (as I have downloaded quite a few mods), but I've never played it multiplayer and I don't feel that I'm missing anything. It's still fun and fresh en
Single player is all I play on the PC. I have zero interest in multiplayer. Thanks for a great single player game.
Thank you, Chris. I'm amazed at what you've accomplished with this program. I am unworthy! But I'll take it anyway.
This has happened to me also, but I finally figured out what it was (in my games, at least): I had ships that were just sitting around as I gathered up my armada and it was waiting for me to give those ships orders. As I had no orders at the moment, hitting the spacebar (to pass that unit's turn) for each loitering vessel finished the activities for the turn and brought back the turn button. I hope this helps.
I see Brad has already addressed this, but it is interesting. Is this the first product you've ever felt you had to return? You have never seen a return done even once in your life? Typically, returns are directed to the Customer Service department of the store (or chain) where the purchase was originally made. Usually the word 'Returns' is posted on or near the Customer Service sign. Was this helpful? If you tell me where you bought it, I might be able to draw a map for you. Thanks for posting.
Well, I must say that I'm not yet experiencing the disappointment that some of our more militarily adventurous galactic leaders have delt with the concerning the AI of this game, but I'm glad of the conversation. It cannot help but make the game better. The tone of this thread is pretty mild compared to a few other threads in this forum and yet I find myself grateful that it's not my job to swim through all these helpful suggestions each day... <img s
Just highlight the misplaced bling and you'll see the option to 'Remove' light up. Just hit that button and the oops is gone!
BruntFCA, you are so right. While step 11 is obviously partly humorous, it does take way more time and effort than it should. Beginning players are the worst hit by this, making learning the game that much more fun for newbies. Maybe this is a planned features for us overweight geeks (like myself) to burn off a few more calories while we game?
Count me among the interested. This could be even better than the marvelous Galactopedia.
Think support. SE4 is about to be replaced with SE5. That means support will peter out. It won't get much better. GC2 is brand new and support is not a problem. It will get much better...Also, I have played and enjoy both, but...SE4 is a decidedly lesser product. Even though it played like Star Fire (hoorah), it looked like South Park. It has the features you'd expect, but the execution is...simple, unpretentious, plain. GC2 does pretty much the same thing (without warp points and controllable c
I've never heard of Starforce before this. What an introduction! I've checked all of my installed software (past and present) and - relief! - I think I'm safe. Yeah! I'll NEVER buy a program 'protected' by Starforce. Not even Heroes of Might and Magic V {sniff}. What a racket.
This latest build (as of today) is truly impressive. It almost qualifies as a strategy guide. While better documentation of the inner workings would certainly shorten the learning curve, the Galactopedia has been instrumental in my first victories in the game. Yeah!
Is there any possibility that the music related options might be added in a patch?
Anyone else have buyer's regret? Remember that? The title to this thread as put forth by a certain disgruntled gamer? I've noticed that in reading this thread most (dare I say 90% ) is not actually about conducting the anecdotal survey on customer satisfaction that it's title actually lured me in with the promise of , but was seemingly an exercise in self-entertainment by the aforementioned disgruntled
Wow. Reading this thread has been very interesting. I have no remorse. I love this game. I think it is a great game. The mechanics seem clear to me, the game is a breeze for me to navigate, and the time I spend playing this game grows daily and yet that time slips by so fast...it has grabbed me like the original Civilization game did back all those many years ago! I feel for you, Heavensblade23, but I don't agree with you. Good Night.
I'll not shed one single turn-based tear for the missing multiplayer. I don't play online multiplayer games anyway, only hotseat and even that has lost much of its charm for me as my life has grown ever busier; nor will I buy a multiplayer expansion for this game, wonderful as it is (and it is indeed wonderful). This game has filled me with the same sense of overwhelming glee that I experienced with
I absolutely agree. Ingame music's the best and while the included music is actually pretty good, my own tunes would be better.
Wow. I just downloaded this and ran it to get a look-see. Oh my! This is just awesome, just plain awesome. I've been having a tough time learning how to play this game well and this will certainly help me. My problem is mostly of the 'too many options' type so no complaint, but I am looking forward to actually winning a game. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Congrats.gif" border=0
I've not tried this yet, but I have found two files in the C:\Program Files\Stardock\Total Gaming\GalCiv2 folder path (yeah, I know I'm no techie). One is titled 'music" and the other is "Event Music." I notice the music bits therein are MP3 format. So I'm guessing that placing an MP3 in one of these files and renaming it to replace an existing MP3 should work, but I figure that music will then only play when the replaced MP3 would've. Is this helpful? I'm really hoping that the programming/desi
As this is my first post in these forums, I just want to say the game is great fun and this site is totally awesome. Every game publisher should run their support operations like this! Oh and I'd also like to say 'Hi!' But I do have a wee little concern... In both manuals (paper and pdf) there is a game feature described under audio options that doesn't appear in the actual game. It reads: "Use Custom Playlist: Enable this to play whatever music is currently in y
