And then, of course, he or she complains about anyone that attempts to help him or her with the issues that we have managed to pry out of the complaints that are sodden with epithet and invective. If my complaints bother you that much, feel free not to read them. It makes no difference to me. I've made more than a few specif

WHY do you need to know EXACTLY how every mechanic in this game works? Will it make you sleep better at night? Does it make you feel smarter or more powerful? Honestly, I thought that games were made to be fun--not comprehended until the ends of our lives. I can understand why you want clarity in your games and I can understand w

Why, again, do you absolutely want to know what everything does -exactly- ? Do you know how much a tank in C&C Generals has in hit points? How much damage in hit points its unupgraded shells do to another tank? To an infantry man? No? Why'd you need to know anyway? Never played C&C generals, but yes, I could find out if I felt I needed to know.

This isn't very useful in its present state. What does +15 economy tell me? Nothing useful. I don't even know whether that's +15 points or +15%, much less whether it stacks with itself or anything else, or whether that would be +15% to my base or adjusted stat. Would you be excited if I told you I put +15 in an envelope to give to you? Maybe, but you don't know how much money was in the envelope to begin with, or whether I put 15 cents,

Yes, I saw the Galactopedia. Not what I'm looking for. Telling me something is "+15 economy" is nearly meaningless. Is that 15 points or 15%? If it's 15%, what is it 15% of, and does it stack with itself, or with anything else? If there's anything it doesn't stack with, what is it? I feel like I'm talking to a brick wall sometimes. How is it that some of you don't understand what it means to know how the game is working, internally? How are we

AMD Athlon64 3700+ Overclocked to 4000+ Nvidia 7800GT overclocked 2 gigs of Corsair RAM WinXP Pro SP2 In other words if the game can dish it out, I can likely take it. It's mainly the lighting that bothers me, I think. Everything looks like it's fully lit all the time.

I'm assuming the game isn't supposed to look this bad. Not that it really looks bad, or anything, it just doesn't look like a game that came out in 2006. They keep saying the graphics scale up pretty far, so what options do I set? Graphics aren't very important in a 4X game but since I have the hardware I'd like the game to use it. It doesn't appear to look much different on my laptop than it does on my desktop.</fon

It needs more than a bit, I'd say. I understand that some features need to be charged for, but as far as putting a basic espionage framework in the game, it needs to happen in a free update. If they want to go above and beyond that and include advanced espionage in an expansion, that's fine.

Expanison pack. It seems to me if they are going to significantly re-work/enhance it, an expansion pack would be an appropriate place to provide it. The expansion pack will have a lot more than just espionage enhancements. No, that's not an appropriate place for it, considering the fact t

Spying is boring. At this point in time it's not an interesting game mechanic at all. You pay x credits and get y amount of information in z amount of time. There's no spice to it whatsoever. You might as well replace it with a button that takes 500 credits and gives you all the information. Or you could even make it automatic, since there are few situations where you wouldn't want to spy, if the game is long enough.

The game does NOT require a 3-button mouse. It makes it easier to look at things, sure. But the only place I can think of where rotation is vital (the ship designer), spinner buttons are provided to do the job for those who don't have 3-button mice. Then how do you change the camera on the map s

I know at least one other occasion where Brad has told an unahppy user that if they didn't like it, Stardock themselves would issue a refund if need be. The case may not be the same here, but if that's what you want, feel free to pursue that avenue. If I'd rather have $40 than a fun game I wouldn't have bought it in the first place.

While most of the people that posted in this thread said they like the game overall, there were 3 or 4 people who said they agree with me, and about 3 or 4 more that said they agreed with me on certain points. Based on the number of posts in this thread, and discarding duplicate posters, that's about 8-10% who agreed with me in whole or in part. I'm clearly not alone in my complaints.

I think too many people just give up if they don't understand at first, or after a short while. I work with many dumb people (not just lacking in logic skills, just plain dumb) and they never understand anything by themselves - always have to explain things to them. It's a game, not a job. If I'm not

And by the way, I'd like to reiterate that I already bought the game, and I can't get a refund. Pretty much the only thing I can do at this point is complain in the proper place (which is here) and hope the developers are listening. If they want to give me a refund I'll shut up and never post here again, but personally I'd say the productive thing to do, and the thing that's best for their bottom line, is to try to make as many people happy as possib

In galciv 1, it was far much worse. Exemple : Charged for social production not happening? In galciv 1 you paid for ALL production, happening or not, not just social. Non-transparent game mechanics? Hell, they ARE transparent, compared to what galciv 1 was. I guess I
