IMO, an update a week would be just about right. Any more than that and you'll run into issues like updates in the middle of save games and updates while people are playing on the Metaverse, etc. Last week, you all promised an update by Friday. But when I got home from work, it wasn't there. So I went out, got something to eat, and it was ready by the time I got back. Which also means you all must be working odd, late hours. Just wanted everyone there to know that I cer

I also encountered this problem over the weekend after reloading after a crash. The influence graph showed my influence pegged at 990,000-and-something. It only lasted one turn though.
I noticed #10 and 11 yesterday. To add to the list: I've had a problem where I could not invade a planet. Instead of getting the planet's name on mouse-over, I get the name of a Heavy Fighter. I attack the fighter and win, but the condition remains. No matter how many times I destroy the same fighter, I cannot invade the planet. Eventually, the planet went to another AI race once the civ surrendered. This problem persisted on a reload as well. I'll try and p
I've had fewer problems with GCII's release than I had with CivIV.
It doesn't. Even it if did, several others have already provided information on how to turn it off and prevent it from loading. Really, it's a non-issue at this point.
I did the CTRL-ALT-DEL thing and found a BUNCH of stuff running that I don't want! I mean, seriously, I'm already logged on to Windows, so why do I need "winlogon" anymore? And I certainly never asked for "services", must less to be a "svchost"! I'm going to kill these unwanted applications that are slowing my system down. [CONNECTION LOST]
One thing to consider is the space requirements though. And the time spent researching all three defences. That's a good point about having all defences at a lower level being more effective though. I hadn't even thought about it before.
Thank you for the info! I'll give it a go when I get home tonight. (really need that radar dish component )
Lots and lots of pointy bits! I like! I really need to start working with ship styles other than just Terran.
Fusion power = magic, and magic explains everything.
I've noticed that the initial colonization rush is crucial to winning a game, but I've not tried swarming an AI's homeworld yet. Like Sontum said, Planetary Invasion is a ways down the tech tree and takes a while to research. And without it, you can't land troops. You could certainly "blockade" their planet though and keep them from expanding until you get around to landing an invasion force... I'll have to try that this weekend. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smi
The AI did that to me too on my first game. I pretty much researched down the "yellow" branch of the tech tree (culture, history, etc) and Mars flipped back by the end of the game (which was on a tiny map and didn't take but 3 hours to play). Cultural conversions do work, but they do seem to work much differently than in CivIV. (Edit: It was the Altarians that had settled Mars.)
