I've noticed some memory leaks after loading games. If I load a game too many times in one session, it will crash to the desktop. Along the way, there will be minor glitches. I did wonder if saving the game has the same affect too, but I'm convinced 'load game' causes more memory leaks.

Simplistic games have their places as well as games with complexity. Each has their own merits and can cater for different market segments. "Dumbing down" is never good of course, as this alienates the original fans and isn't guarantee to bring in new players. The Big N has always made games that are simple but somehow have depth. A lot of games do focus on 'eye candy' and as much as I hate to say, it does capture most people's attention es
ITS A GAME Exactly. If you cant figure out the benefit of starting in a corner, well then I can't really help you. Exactly. Just to show how helpful
Full Morale AND Full Economy is definitely the combination to have. Way over powered! Full morale allows you to tax you citizens more giving you more money as well as that extra ecomony bonus. No need for diplomacya s you can buy anything! So if you add some diplomacy after that you will become incredible! This is of course using the Populist or the Ferderalist party. I tried being the evil agressor choosing max Attack and max Hit
Just putting it out there so I haven't really thought how easy it would be to change, or the impact on game dynamics. Would it be better that the galaxy created wasn't flat? Flying off one edge makes the ship appear on the other side if you know what I mean. That way, no races are boxed in and will have more chance of being surrounded by more than 1 race. What do you all think?
That's a good idea. The problem is that it isn't a simulator and everyone is trying to win, especially the player. You can't really take your time and you must expand your empire to gain any sort of power at all hence there will always be a colony rush. By taking those settings you are really just dragging out the 'colony rush' stage longer. Hostile races are very quick to destroy if you have any kind of weakness (hence why minor
A few days ago, there was a link to some cool PNG and PDF tech tree images. I was at work then so I didn't download them the first chance I got. Unfortuantely, when I got home, I could find the link. Is the link still out there? The reason I'm asking is because I'm trying to find info on the nanoripper and other various tech cause I have no idea what they are, thus no idea what to research to get them! <img src="smiles/Smile.gif" border=0 AL
I'm going to to voice my opinions too. Although the 'no tech trade' options seems great to some people at first, it won't be what they were expecting. The Dregins should be able to extort tech from other races because that is what they should do. The 'no tech trade' option basically crippled them, and making them focus on research more just kills the dynamic of who they are. This just means that when using the 'no trade tech' option, the foc
I'm convinced it's random because I again reloaded a save game before conquering a planet just to see what happens - and nearly everytime its different. Hmmm, maybe it's just me. One problem is that you cannot refuse a surrender of a planet. If a race surrenders to me, I cannot but accept. This would be okay in a single player game since the AI doesn't know anything about spite or such. However, if this was in a multiplayer with human player
I like to give my 2 cent. I am writing this out as think it, so it might get a little messy. Sometimes, what I find on these forums are that they are way too much critism. Maybe too much expectations. I believe that the developers of GalCiv2 have made decisions that they think are for the best, and they truly do try to please a lot of players. They are even actively trying to improve the game by their patches and updates. Now, it is true that there are things that *I* thin
I wouldnt mind the choice of tactical battle. Anyway, the biggest thing missing for me is the choice to retreat at least 1 of the ships. It's always a battle to the death. Saying that, I'm not exactly sure how it works but it will be nice to be able to retreat especially if you have faster engines.
Try clicking choosing another race -> Next -> Back -> pick humans again I remember having this problem and wish we had a race default button (or as the above guy said, unmodifiable).
Doesn't that just sets everything to 0?
Spearthrower said it correctly. It will never be perfectly balance no matter what you do. You can nerf the race, then another race will seem to powerful and this goes on until all race are nerfed which means you are back to where you are. Ther are not so overpowered that they need 'fixing'. To be honest, at the moment, the bugs in the game should take pirority over new features and balancing.
Civilisations never really captured me - for some reason I never really got into it. However I did play most of the XCom turn based strategy game, Outpost and Alpha Centauri. I took a chance on Gal Civ 2 for 3 reasons: - I had been waiting for another good turn based game - Word of mouth has it that it was great - It wasn't copy protected I don't regret it. Well, I regret playing it through to the middle of the nigh
Are you telling that the richer (the one who can produce more ship and have researched more thing) should always crush the poorer? Not with good strategy or weapon/defence choices. But if you are basing it on a technological standpoint where everything else is even then the one with the most research
Yes, weapon choice and defence can play a major part in winning a battle that might not be possible on even ground. However, the point I was making was that the cost/maintanence and research time put into it should make it more of an impact in winning when versus a race with less. But good strategy can change the outcome.
It does seem random as I have reloaded a savegame just to see who they might surrender to if they had the choice again. Anyway, I don't think races should ever surrender to a race that they are not at war with. This can also prevent accidental surrendering - however you should still be able to give away a planet for free (not the same as surrendering).
But that is the whole point! Asumming they both have a logistic of 20, then there is a massive research difference. Tiny ships only need the logistic research. Whereelse the huge ships needs both the hull research AND the logistic research. By the time a race with both hull research and logistic research, they will ALWAYS overpower a race with ONLY logistic research. I hope that made sence. It will be a lot fairer
I've played at least a half dozen games since I patched, on both Gigantic and Huge, without a full run of major races (so there was plenty of room), and I have not encountered one single minor race on any of them (again, since I patched). They're completely gone for me. I don't like that, at all. Cou
I'm not sure what happens if you lose the planet that built the trade good. The race in control of the trade good gains control of it. I know this because I invaded a planet with the trade good, and it became mine! <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Smile.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmidd
Imagine this scenario. I built a galatic wonder. I sell it to all race. Now I destroy the wonder and I pressume I lose the bonus. Do the others get to keep theirs? Am I the only one allowed to build it now?
Nothing to download. Just use the thing at the top of this thread. Go on... it's interative!!!
Are multiple routes to/from the same planets as effective? (i.e. can I build 15 trade routes from my best planet to their best planet) I like to know this as well. Basically what I do is to have all my frieghters come from a single planet which is the cash planet (no idea if it makes any difference to frieghters). Then I build multip
Start with a big galaxy with 1 or 2 major races and you will find them. Currently, I'm on a large map with 8 ither major race, and so far come into contact with 2 minor races.
