That, however, doesn't explain your need to cheat. Is this just a normal path you take when you buy a game? If so, slit your wrists immediately. This is you agreeing with me that it doesn't matter if someone wants to play using cheats? And you say I am stricken with fraktardation? (Whatever the hell that is supposed to mean) M

Dude... seriously... go slit your wrists. I have suffered from depression for over two years and have attempted suicide twice in the previous ten months. So I hope you die slowly and extremely painfully in a horrendous accident you total f_cking w@nker. (and if I'm banned for this post, it's been worth it).

If someone wants to play using cheats, then fine. Not the way I usually play games but, hey, as long as s/he enjoys the game - so what? If the OP is insecure, maybe slitting his wrists (vertically, not horizontally) isn't such a bad idea. One less cheater in the world. Telling people to slit their wrists, even in jest, makes you seem a comple

Reply to Game Crash in Bug Reports

Even if you get the game running, don't expect too much. You may still experience crashing, and you will definitely not get the textures or performance, from your GeForce4 440 Go. It only supports up to DirectX 7, and the game requires a DX9 card for full functionality. Maybe try turning off all "extra" graphics effects. If GC2 runs okay add extra gra

That is indeed a llama. Partially due to Hillaire Belloc's "The Llama" - "The Llama is a woolly sort of fleecy hairy goat...". The rest is a long and very boring story which no-one here would have any interest in. At all. Ever. Trust me, I'm a goat

I use a Sapphire Radeon 9550 (not sure of version now) 256MB. It's a downclocked 9600! All I had to do was flash the card with the 9600 firmware and I had a Sapphire Radeon 9600. And it was really cheap (UK) earlier this year when I bought it and runs GC2 at 1440x900 (widescreen) with all graphics features on. It might go higher res but that's all my monitor can handle. I think I can dig out instructions for the firmware flashing procedure if you want to go that route. (Though google i

Do starbases themselves gain experience when they win battles? Good question. Mine rarely win battles so I don't know - if they don't then this wouldn't be a legitimate tactic for constructors (for the way I like to play).

It wasn't that hard to read Agreed, I understood at the first read through. Just thought I'd mention the capitals-at-sentence-start as I'm really lazy ... and caps make my reading easier. The time you spend building up

Sir Nasty - just seen your screen capture. Jaw drops at the stats on that starbase. Make all mine look like utter wimps!

At first I thought "Exploit". Now I'm thinking it may be a legitimate tactic for constructors (if the crew have battle experience in an invasion fleet surely they'd be better at defending the starbase when constructed?), but I don't think I'd ever use this tactic for empty hulls - it just doesn't seem "realistic". I may well try that tactic for constructors in my next game ... if I still think it's legit. @Sir Nasty of Tang - very few people have perfect punctuation,

I use a USB optical drive to play StarForce games Is that to keep StarForce off your system? If so, does it work?? I would have thought it (SF) would have been installed on your hard drive anyway? I could well be wrong, of course, but personally I'd run a rootkit finding program just in case!

First day of SR2 yesterday - started play about 2pm, did the training missions, carried on for a bit then ended up in a bad part of the galaxy and couldn't escape some powerful pirates. Restarted and ... finally went to bed about 4am. It's (almost) the sequel to Elite that I've always wanted. With great music. Now with luck I'll get a couple more hours SR2 before the wife gets home from her business trip <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Wink.gif" border=0 AL

Looks like Drengin is correct - just had the broadband connection drop out, SDC resumed download from 18%. Edit - found the option, it's in Tools/Settings/Internet/Internet Settings - option to resume partially downloaded files. Looks like it's set to "resume" by default, which is good.

Downloading Space Rangers 2 through SDCentral (approx 16% done) I needed to shut SDC and reboot. When I restarted the SR2 download it started again from 0%. Living in the sticks I have a slow broadband connection which drops out completely occasionally - so the chances of downloading all of SR2 without another interruption are pretty slim. Is there an option in SDC to get it to resume downloading from where it left off after an interruption?

IIRC Brad said it's possible the storyline was subconciously partly "cloned" as Star Control is one of his all-time favourite games! Can't find it on search, though. A forum member also posted a link to where you can download SC legally for free. I downloaded it but haven't played it yet (too much GC2).

Yeah, NIS is a resource hog. I now use AVG antivirus, ZoneAlarm firewall and CounterSpy anti-spyware (with AdAware, SpyBot Search&Destroy and SpyWareBlaster also installed). Beware of rogue anti-spyware progs which pretend to be anti-spyware but in fact actually contain spyware themselves (scum!). MajorGeeks.com is a good resource for security software.

That's a good point - the game auto-selects ships with movement left for me too and then cycles though all others with moves left. It's weird though, sometimes the "Turn" button is green at the start of a turn, sometimes it goes green part way through a turn, most of the time it behaves correctly. As I said it's no big deal for me. At the moment I'm having much more trouble with a kitten playing with my speaker cables!
