Yeah, weeks are stupid. I just took down half an empire in just a few weeks Also, people seem to breed like rabbits on cocaïne seeing as how the population grows by the millions each week

You want to delete your own designs forever? If so, go to '.../my documents/my games/GalCiv2/ships/' and delete the .shipclass and.shipcfg files in that folder.
Yeah, well, IRC doesn't work on this computer due to internal network issues (ironically, the only program i've been unable to get to work out of dozens). I've tried port-forwarding, setting up a virtual server, tweak the hell out of my firewall, etc etc etc... but nothing works. Well, I guess i'll just have to wait till someone gets busy by themselves <
Are you saying this mod adds a "Cosmetics" branch to the tech tree, and opens a new "Hottest Leader in the Universe" victory condition? While it's possible, I think it's better to keep it on a more serio
Well, I could make her fat and ugly... but i doubt anyone would download the portrait if i did that
*ba-bump* Anyone?
Very nice... although awfully young-looking for a planetary leader. Maybe Earth is a monarchy though, and it's an inherited position. Yeah, I'll go with that. Or maybe medical knowledge of that time allows for people to live much longer and look much younger.
just one question: if i install it the male leader (default, alan bradley) will be lost forever, right ? No, you unzip this in you '.../my documents/Galciv2/' folder (it will then unzip into the appropriate folder automatically). It will not overwrite ANY files.
Why, thank you very much
Well, since it's been on and off about having a female leader for this game, I thought i'd just add one. I simply rendered this image and can be used as your portrait when you start a new game. Preview; Go here to download; http://library.galciv2.com/index.aspx?m=40
How long does it take for mods to get approved. I've had mine sitting in the library for about 3-4 days IIRC and they are still stuck at 'pending approval'. Is it a weekly thing maybe?
Meh, if any of you guys still want, i can add a female leader quite easily. Here's an example pic; It's just an example, so it's not my best render. It was done on the fly. No facial expression, no background, bad lightning and horrible shadow in the background, etc. So, should i just go ahead and add this for those who want it? It's simple enough...
Heh, what you are suggesting is that if you want gender specifics in a game, you'd have to introduce various sociological studies and incorporate them into the interaction between the AI and the player. ...but that's just unrealistic in any game... Nevertheless, as you said, this game is pretty genderless. Especially since most dialogue, actions and choices in this game don't denote any particular 'male' behaviour to begin
Meh, i can easily render a Human female and add 'm as a race picture (probably have to replace the original though, not sure if i can add new ones entirely to choose from since I only looked at the gfx and .xml files briefly... need to search for that a bit). I can also add Human females to event pictures, anomaly pictures, etc. Any interest in this then?
I use a different naming scheme. While i considered using something similar to keep things tidy, i just don't like it. I use abbrevations such as AF for Attack Fighter, which is obviously an offensive combat oriented fighter. Or FRCr for Fast-Response Cruiser, which puts emphasis on engines and speed but cuts back on the armor and a little on the weapons. I also add a numerical value to denote the version of the ship. For example; AF-101 is pretty much a fighter with a single laser <i
Nice Cheese... ermm... i mean Star Destroyer A bit flat though.
How to post pictures; - Go to www.imageshack.us and upload your picture form your HD. - Put the direct link on this forum (or put it between IMG tags if you want it to display directly on the forum instead of just a link. to do so, just click on 'image' above the text bloxk where you write your post and insert the link).
I love the homages to Babylon 5 & Star Trek Also, the Hawkeye is a very nice design.
Yeah, they're political parties. My bad. Error corrected.
Communism isn't the same as Soviet Russia you know People always seem to think that. Soviet Russia was closer to a dictatorship then a true communist country. Not every communist country/empire will have a KGB-like organization. And the theory behind communism is actually very noble. It's just that in reality, it's almost impossible to achieve without powerhungry people screwing things up roya
Economic starbases can boost production with certain modules. As for ship designs, don't redesign at every new tech. It costs too much to upgrade old ships and barely helps at all. Wait untill you researched several levels of something or multiple new components. For example lasers, it's pretty useless to design a new ship just for laser II. Instead wait till laser IV or V and it will actually make a difference. But if you're like me, you probably go and fiddle with the Shi
One thing I've also noticed in the post-mortem screens is that the AI players have a tax rate 10 points or more behind mine, yet they seem to keep high approval ratings. How do they do that? This can be for several reasons; - Entertainment centers; build 1 on every planet and you add 25+% of mor
After that I'm mainly just teching up and building ships. This would be part of your problem. The ship building, I mean. In this game it's best not to pump out ships unless you have a decent enough tech base and an economy to support them. Lots of ships = lots of maintainance cost = shitty economy. Especially early on in the game where you really don

I've added 3 new parties to add some spice. Well... actually it was just a little test to see if it's doable, and it turned out to be really simple. Each has their unique little picture as well. Political Party pack v1.0a contents; - Nationalists
