I signed on to be Galactic Emporer, not some space faring nursemaid to an empire of ungrateful malcontents damn... that made me laugh

I got my box in the mail on Monday also. It was the last straw I tells ya! 1) No DRM on the game. 2) Transparency and communication with the users 3) Download AND a hard copy sent quickly with no hassle. That last one pushed me over the edge. I fell head over heels in love with Stardock. "Stardock, you had me at 'Hello'."
I'm in the end game, I'm pretty high up on most tech trees, but I still can't see how to install modules on my starbases. My influence starbases are just sitting around doin' nothin. What am I missing?
I'm aware that once I trade a tech to an AI civilization, that tech will quickly spread amongst the other AIs. I've run into situations where I want to help a certain civ with a tech trade but I don't want that tech to wind up in the hands of my enemy. Will AIs trade weapons tech to civs they have strained relations with?
I've researched the Alliance tech, but when I "speak to" the other civs, there's no option to "make alliance", only the "Attack.." or "Make Peace..." options. I didn't see anything in the manual... am I missing something?
Whoah! This 3DAnalyzer thing really works! Thanks Neonapple... you just saved me 200 bucks.
After playing, and then looking at people's screenshots, I realized my ships don't have high quality textures. I've got the basic hull and trim colors, but there's no bump mapping or anything. Typically there's a setting under options in other games that let's you scale your graphics quality, but I didn't see anything like that in GCII. So, does my graphics card just suck, or do I have some sort of bug? I've got a NVIDIA GeForce4 MX420. Any suggestions
