As always much appreciated work you folks at Stardock do. Its kinda funny. The other day I was playing another game that was released a year or so ago and found a bug late in the game. When I searched the forums of said game I found that yes it was a known issue and instead of fixing it the fix given was *yeah that happens just redo the creature*. I'm glad that not everyone in this industry just lets things sit and never fixes the broken things that people post about. And yes there

Nice!... I seriously cannot wait for this expansion. Going to be a nice present for all us fans.
I will start by saying that I personally think you folks at SD have done a fantastic job with GC2. From release to v1.2 the game has gotten better and better each step of the way. No small feat in this industry. And for a small company it is even more impressive. As for the AI I think at times what people see as *flaws* are actually intentional. Take the planet developement for instance. It has been stated in several posts that it is meant to be *good* not *perfect*. Also think ab
No idea if these are listed but here are a few I ran into while playing: 1) When you have a planet highlighted and it shows the ships in orbit the tool tip does not work for the bottom row of ships. 2) When you have a planet highlighted you can select one ship from the top row and one ship from the bottom row. They do not stay mutually exclusive. 3) On the Domestic Policy screen the three sliders to set the individual spending do not move together. This caus
I really like the example UI provided in 1.2 but obviously can't use it to play metaverse games which is normally what I play. I understand the why behind not allowing mods since it would seriously skew the scores but if there is any way to allow UI mods but not allow other game file changes then I would be very happy .
Actually his defense against your weapons is not zero. It is the square root of 639. This means that there are certainly going to be times where his ships take no damage depending on an individual ship's attack roll versus that defensive roll. Also 6 vs 10 is not an automatic win for you unless you really out class your opponent. Granted luck plays a role in determining what damage is inflicted each combat round but if nothing else you have 6 shots and he has 10. Unless all six of
Only a game that you start as a metaverse game will upload. At the end of the game it will prompt you asking if you wish to upload the score. You can save/load a metaverse game so don't worry about finishing it in one sitting. What I typically do is save my metaverse games with MV in the title so I know which are metaverse and which are just normal sandbox games. To load it simply choose it from the Load Game option in the main menu. You don't have to be logged into the website. The game w
Miniaturization seems to be something that started out as one thing in the game and then changed towards release and was never renamed. Brad has said many times that they wanted all ship sizes to be viable throughout the game. Also he did not want the end game to become a race to the *monster ship*. I think the way the system works now is that balancing act in well action . Whether you agree
As Darth Kryo said start a game using the Metaverse button on the main menu. Also make sure you've got a character already set up here on the website since it will prompt you to sign in and choose one of those characters. From there you can play as normal. If you do save to continue later all you need to do is click Load Game from the main menu and select your metaverse save. I typically call mine Metaverse so I can remember which are different from my normal games. At
Fluke: So let's see if we are fanboys then you must be a troll. Now maybe I don't understand the definition of a *fanboy* but I thought it is someone that generally hypes up anything done by a company no matter how awful it really is. Also a *fanboy* will never admit when something else might be better then their favorite thing. So if by defending SD when I feel someone is adding nothing to the mix save for more of the same *see ... see they are awful... they never fixed THIS*
Fluke: Wait so let me get this straight. You don't care about the metaverse games or even have any posted and yet you are complaining about the fact that you don't understand why they won't change cheat flagged games. I hate to say it but SD does not owe you or anyone else an explanation as to why they make the decisions they do. And the fact that at times they do give us a peek behind the scenes is actually rather nice of them. Bad support? Wow. You know SD doesn't have to
You know what's funny? Every game I've ever stopped playing is because I figured out how to beat it. Now isn't that something? So yes the OP is absolutely correct that if you aren't the type of player that can enjoy something once you've won then this game or any other game for that matter is not going to have any replay value. However GC2 is one game that I do continue to play even though I figured out quite a while ago how to beeline victory. You know why I still play? Well mos
Glad I saw this before I bothered to continue my most recent MV game. And yeah come on cut them some slack here. Bugs do crop up from time to time especially with BETAs. No need to rip on Cari about it. At least she was nice enough to post the fact that it is a known issue that has been fixed. And for the arm chair programmers out there who think everything should be *easy* get over yourselves. Unless you've seen the actual code you have no idea what is *easy* and what isn't. I'm inclined
When v1.1 finally went gold I thought to myself *wow I can't really think of anything to make this game better for me*. I mean sure there were a few quirks in the game that annoyed me but all of those are my minor preferences. Now I've downloaded and played the beta of v1.2 and once again am smiling from ear to ear. Let's highlight a couple here. 1) Upgraded Colony tab in the Civ Manager Screen. Woot! I play the game al
Well thats a shame about the ship pack but I certainly understand the business decision. So we'll be getting a nice xmas present from Stardock instead. I think I can live with that .
Can't honestly remember the last time an ad in a magazine made me run out and buy a game. However they have certainly made me search out more info on the web. I'm usually of the mind set that if I can't see it in action then I pass. I've been burned far too many times by games that looked wonderful on paper and then turned out to be major piles of junk. ::cough:: MoO3 ::cough:: So I rarely buy a game unless: a) I played the demo. b) I played a previous version,
I think a lot of the industry could learn a thing or two from you folks at Stardock. I'm sure the forums have caused quite a few behind the scenes rants of frustration at times. Just remember there are those of us here that understand your hard work and appreciate everything you've done for us that is well free to us. Certainly looking forward to more improvements and the future expansion packs. Not sure if I'd pick those up if its just another set of campaigns but major gameplay additions w
As always keep up the fantastic work. While you guys are looking at the Colony Management screen any chance of getting some sort of indication that a planet may or may not be focused on a particular production? Even if it is just to highlight the number representing the focus would be a huge help when trying to find all those planets that were focused on SP that I now want to focus on say RP. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Smile.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmiddle
Yep very valid way to win. For a challenge try playing a good race against a galaxy of bad ones or vice versa. Makes diplomacy a lot harder. Also they will declare war on you more often and not allow you to turtle as much.
Now I would agree with an Axis & Allies type killed ship gets at least one parting shot type tweak to the combat. However I don't think overall it would solve very much. But if nothing else this change would require no changes to the AI. Hard to say if they'd consider something like this. Anyone that thinks you can tweak it by upping the HPs or changing att/def values by all means mod the game files and let us know what you find out <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smi
I'm kinda mixed on this one. While I do think that any system created is going to have some flaw that a human player will find and exploit I don't think the current system is bad either. Lets run through a couple shall we. Simultaneous Combat: In other words you fire, I fire, and most HPs wins. Sounds good right? Ok but what happens if I fire on the same ship twice with two of my ships? Does the defender get to return fire on that next ship thus getting multiple attacks? And wh
I'm just curious to see how much the scoring change affects rankings. I started out in the low 200s and then dropped pretty fast into the mid 300s just by playing games with the beta scoring change.
If you are playing on a larger map the AI does put more emphasis into range techs now then before. It doesn't take much to go through the first few techs if you set your spending to 100%. It's possible this is all the AI did. The game does show you what they've researched already if you have a high enough espionage level. Have a look through its tech list and see what it has already researched.
Holy deja vu batman... seems we just had this discussion. Not to be harsh but at times I wish people would use the search feature on the forums .
The AI gets additional bonuses once you go beyond Intelligent. Brad has posted this several times. If the miniaturization ability is multiplied by one of these bonuses that is how they got more things on their ship. Nothing is broken it's just how it works out. Also look around for a military resource. If they've got it maxed out then you get something on the order of a 44% bonus to weapon damage and defense. Also same thing applies to this that applies to miniaturization. If there is an
