no AI update?
I was about to ask this same question. With this being the 'final' scheduled beta before release (if it's still on track for the 23rd), where/when is the massive AI overhaul/tweeking we have been hearing about coming? So far only the Drengin seem to have gotten any attention.
or better yet take your fast fast ships to another part of the galaxy where the nasty people live and tear space up. Duh
Emory: Ya … you know, we have time. Do you really need us to go to warp speed? Oglethorpe: Yes, I want everyone to know. I'm fast and I will tear ass all over their galaxy, and totally trench their galaxy. Hehe those badass plutonians :HOT:
So, Lone Starr, now you see that evil will always triumph, because good is dumb.
Are we going to be able to play with all 12 races? I mean, the largest galaxy is 440 sectors(22x22). That should be more then large enough room for all the races + customs. I agree fully here. Especially now when we are about to be given 'Immense' galaxies. I was a bit miffed when DA gave us 2 new races + custom opponents without the ability to use them all at once. 12 would be good so we can have all the stock races 14 would be perfect fo
+ FIX Capped the number of possible stars in a randomly generated galaxy (ie not a custom map) to be 300, which should help with the memory problems. + TWEAK: Thumbnails are now 64 x 64 instead of 128 x 128, to reduce memory usage Please remove these before final 1.7 While I appreciate the performance tweeking, please stop punishing those of us that have adequate machines. I guess I'll stick with beta 3 for now.
I'm getting garbled explosions. The crashes seem to be gone though. My textures for waypoints, and ship destinations are not displaying nicely either. Anyone else seeing this? I've got the exact same issue with this build. The graphics for waypoints seem to be corrupted(the animated ones you see when zoomed in) as well as the impact effects in battle and ship explosions. I don't recall if I was using beta 1 or 2 previously but there
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA "High End" HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA What kinda idiot "might" call a system with a Celeron CPU, onboard sound/gfx chips, 512mb shared memory "high end" HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHA Thx for the laugh
I'm not sure I buy the idea that there's intentional obfuscation of what's going on here. How many threads have there been begging for this information? - A lot. How many of these threads have been read by the devs? - Most likely most of them. How many clear and concise answers has the community been given? - None that I'm aware of. <
Shouldn't that be, 'gotten'? Correct. Really guys come on this is 6th grade English here. It's "I have (just recently) gotten" the present perfect tense or "I (just recently) got" present tense
It's an expansion so it has everything that the original had plus alot more. I will probably not play plain DL anymore. I think the only ones who will continue playing DL are those that are too cheap or too stubborn (those who will cry that new features 'ruin' the game) I think I saw mentioned that DA/DL will be sold as a bundle, this is most likely what the new players will be purchasing, everyone wants to pick up the latest version anyways. I remember GC1/AP bundle was wh
Its the most incomplete game ive ever played. 1. They gutted the campaign there are gaping plot holes, I was often left wondering wtf how one mission led to the next. 2. The flight and camera controls are horrible and not remappable. 3. They removed the much hyped custom captain/ship upgrading. 4. The graphics are sub par for the hardware demands that they make - the game runs like ass and doesnt even look prettier for it. 5. No shield arcs. 6. Took out the ability
All in all, this game has been a pretty big disappointment. Mainly because it is nothing any better than what was produced 15 years ago in this game style. Not Impressed and feel like I wasted $30. I guess I'll try Space Empires 5 to see if that company got it any better... A fool and his money are soon parted... Seriously there
Since updating to the newest version of Dark Avatar, my custom races all seem to receive 15 points to spend on their abilities. Am I mistaken that they're only supposed to have 10 points? I've never used a cheat code of any kind in GalCiv 2 *or* Dark Avatar, so I'm not sure why this would be happening. Can someone clarify how many points you're supposed to receive when cre
I've forced myself to stop playing the Yor, as this is too hard to resist hehe I beleive this is a known "feature" and should work the same for any race not just the Yor. Meant to prevent new players from going too far in the red I vaugly remember reading that it is disabled at higher difficulty levels although i could be wrong ive
Why do people always answer the question you don't ask instead of the one that you do. Never ceases to amaze me. I guess it shouldn't. Hehe perhaps you are asking the wrong questions?
The slider he speaks of is in the DA beta, in regular GCII you just have to tick all the little disable boxes. ahh sorry didnt realize that was a new feature
What first slider too poor. Im missing the textures. games runs just as should otherwise. In game options under video tab slider says video quality Also set the resolution to the lowest possible
I suspect you have an AGP slot that your MX440 is using. Actually it's entirely possible he has no AGP slot at all. The NVidia nforce 2 IGP chipset mobos had an integrated 440MX chip which would be worse than an actual AGP card because the integrated chip steals bandwith from the rest of the system does not have its own dedicated memory, it
You should upgrade your hardware to something above bare minimum. Agreed. That card is ancient and it was craptacular when it was new, like DethAdder said the GF4MX is no better than a GF2. You cant honestly expect to play current generation games well with such technology. Does the game run, but just slowly? Your not missing textures
I use IE6 to surf here and Ive never once had it crash my pc. The only issue Ive had with the site is sometimes I need to hit the back button 2-3 times to get out of a thread and back to the forums. Heh I was actually surprised to hear that the elitist Mumble uses IE all those rants about MS bloatware...
While I think having the option is a good idea, I would prefer that they looked at and fixed the way the AI is surrendering instead of what seems like a 'we broke it too badly to fix it so turn it off' solution.
I give it thumbs down, sorry. While I would like to see military starbases made abit more useful, your suggestion would require alot of work on the AI to get it to actually use them effectively. They would actually have be smart enough to set up multiple bases to provide enough coverage and then to recognize these as high priority targets of the enemy and dedicate fleets to defend them... ppl would just send a fleet to destroy a base making a hole then thier super fast 80+ transports w
For god sake everyone needs to stop calling fast ships "cheese". IF the game was correctly balanced, those fast ships wouldn't match up well against whatever ships the AI is using that don't have all those engines. What would you call exploiting a weakness in the AI? Call it what you will but alot of us will label it 'cheese'. I too would prefe
I play on Gigantic galaxies my ships usually max out around 12-15 I prefer to put more guns/armor on my ships and actually fight the enemy... Yes it takes awhile if your trying to go from one side of the galaxy to the other but thats one of the things that makes it feel GIGANTIC. I say just limit each ship to 3-4 engines each.
So I'm updating the engine component values. Hehe I can't wait for that patch. Get ready for the flood of 'OMG I found a bug engines are insanely large now' threads.
