512megs is probably okay for someone not running anything in the background on their box, and playing in smaller galaxies, assuming they have their virtual memory set to 2048 megs that is.... However, considering how absurdly cheap ram is right now, they should just buy more. I remember buying 16 kilobytes for $150 a couple decades ago, and now you can grab 2 gigabytes for less then that over at newegg. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/g
Using the latest beta and playing with a Gigantic galaxy, and abundant planets with 9 other civs and the minors, after 7 hours of play my ram usage for the game is about 1.3 gigs (I have 2 gigs). I dont run the game with anything other then a minimum of windows functions in the background (16 processes) and nothing else. If it has memory leaks they would seem to be rather minor at this point... Then again I've never tried playing for 30
Ive been playing on tough (intelligent) in gigantic galaxies with 9 other races and have no problem at all being first in tech, by a long shot... Either your 'broke', or you should learn to play the game
That is such a rip off I dont know where to begin. Obsolete junk, hows that? Not worth $50, much less $100. Dont buy a card form bestbuy either. Go to newegg.com or zipzoomfly... As said above, see if you need an AGP card or PCI express. There is no way your box is old enough not to have at least an agp slot... Then grab an Nvidia 6200, or 6600gt, or 7300gs, or an ati x1300 or x700...
You can seriously doubt thats your problem all you want. But if your drawing more then 18amps on the 12 volt rail that enermax unit will trip and reboot. The 12 volt rail on the EG851AX-VH has a 14/14/16/18 split... http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,1697,1933038,00.asp Your issue is either your power supply, your ram, or your ATI drivers, take your pick. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Smile.gif" border=0 ALIGN
Sounds like a power supply issue to me. Random reboots are usually power or ram related... If you want to test out your ram, download and run this happy program; Stress Prime 2004 http://sp2004.fre3.com/download.htm screen shots over here; http://sp2004.fre3.com/screenshots.htm If you have 2 cpus, install the program in 2 different folders and run one instance of each. You can select CPU affinity in the program, uncheck 'no affinity' then set the bo
DT = DaemonTools http://www.daemon-tools.cc/
I have the issue as well. Disbanding the fleet usually fixes the issue. It has only occured with fleets for me, even fleets with the same exact ship types and move rates.
if your hand is empty thats what happens. However, It doesnt happen if you have a new part selected from the menu on the left in your hand when you remove the old ones...Only when your hand is empty, very odd.
Very true Kryo The latest video cards out, nvidias 7800GTX 512 and the ati x1900 draw over 11 amps on the 12 volt rail. So if one has an SLI or Crossfire rig with 2 cards thats 23 amps need on the 12 volt rail (276 watts). Which is absolutely insane.... read this for more; http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,1697,1932958,00.asp
Did you try going to Start->Control Panel->Display->Appearance, and in the Font Size box by the bottom select 'Large' or 'Extra Large fonts' then hit apply? Im not sure if that will work or not, but it's worth a shot if you havn't tried it
I had crashes a couple days ago in game with the 81.98 drivers after an couple hours. however, I'm now using the new 84.12 drivers and the 1.0x version of the game, played for 6 hours last night, not one crash, this is with a 7800gt. So the latest beta drivers certainly work with the game, and the patch did help the temp issue... You can grab them here; ftp://download.nvidia.com/Windows/84.12 I doubt thats it though. Since Civ 4 crashes, I bet your pow
They certainly are building them in the game I was playing for the past few hours, which I started after getting the new patch...
I eventually did get my movie pack... You change servers by selecting Tools->Settings->Internet; the picking the california, chicago or 'server #4' from the list... I watched the intro movie, viewed all the tutuorial videos, started a new game, and crashed it 10 minutes later trying to build a scout ship. I didn't use any jewelry by the way, 1 tiny frame, 2 engines, 2 sensors, 2 life support modules, 1 crash... I have the latest drivers and my box is solid a
