A "strategy" that relies upon restarting the game until you get nice tiles on your home planet is more of a cheat. There are plenty of other ways to pursue a military victory that do not rely on cheating.
I've been having the same problems since the 1.1 patch. All videos ran fine in 1.0 but come 1.1 some have consistently been really stuttery (while others have been just fine). My computer and video card have more than enough horsepower to handle this and my drivers are fine; I suspect a bug.
I agree. For instance, when you get a new level of lasers it should tell you how much the size decreased, etc. I don't suggest removing the current text, but rather adding a small window with all the most relevant information.
