Question about video card and "slow" movies

Hi. I bought yesterday Gal CiV II but I´m having a problem with the movies. With the exception the intro, all the other animations (the first anomaly investigated, the freighter animation, the battleship launch, etc) are choppy. My configuration is:

AMD Athlon 64 Processor 2.01 Ghz
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200
1 GB RAM

And Gal Civ is at version 1.2

Before wroting this post, I :

a) Went to NVIDIA site and downloaded the latest driver (Version: 91.31, Release Date: 23.6.2006; WHQL Certified, international lanaguage)
b) Certified I´m using DirectX 9.0c
c) Certified´my video config are 32-bit color (res: 1024 x 768)
c) Rebooted more than once just in case.

I don´t know if the debug.err would help in this case and I´m not sure what to look in the list presented in that file.

So, please, do you have any suggestion as how to fix this 'slow movie" problem? The game otherwise works fine.

Thanks in advance, Victor

You could try turning off some of the video features in the Options/Video screen - like anti-alias. You do have a pretty slow video card.

Make sure there is no program running in the background. I have almost the same specs but with a intel 2.8 proccesor. My videos ran choppy until I closed down a stupid hp auto updating program from ctrl + alt + delete.

I've been having the same problems since the 1.1 patch. All videos ran fine in 1.0 but come 1.1 some have consistently been really stuttery (while others have been just fine). My computer and video card have more than enough horsepower to handle this and my drivers are fine; I suspect a bug.

The FX5200 is a cheapo card, as I recall. I had numerous problems with it just trying to play DVDs, which had been around at least a decade.

Choppy is usualy a result of not enough system resources.
Close all background programs before you run the game.
Turn of anti-aliasian, this is a huge resource eater, but if you can afford it makes the game look great.
Turn down video settings until your getting enough fps

Thanks everybody

After I turned it off the Anti-alias, the movies got all straight. I don´t mind losing a bit of graphic coolness in exchange
