Because, as far as i know, it is the only way to determine what your influence is on a particular minor race planet. -Brian

In-game movies can run better if you lower your antialiasing. -Brian
And both of those lines have errors : ) I'm up for a game-wide textual review. -Brian
I find the game’s descriptions to be very unique and refreshing, but also in need of review and grammar/spelling revision. If you plan to keep the essence of what the writers wrote, then you might be on to something (and I bet stardock would integrate your modifications into the release build), but if you are out to change all the text, then you won’t have much support. I agree though, that a game of this excellence is surprisingly lacking in textual polish. The spirit of the writin
That is actually an interesting idea. I've personally not thought of doing that, but it could be done I suppose. -Brian
So far I've done: https://forums.galciv2.com/?ForumID=162&AID=111535 https://forums.galciv2.com/?ForumID=162&AID=112631 https://forums.galciv2.com/?ForumID=162&AID=112089 https://forums.galciv2.com/?ForumID=348&AID=111081 The excelsior is just about done, and so is the intrepid class, but I am just trying to make them more game friendly. Release date unknown. -Brian
vortexdr I am going to want BETA testers at some point just to play a few games with them to make sure everything runs smoothly, then release the whole thing as a pack. AdmiralZ, thx for the list. I will keep it in mind. -Brian
SwiftBoot It is a fan-based design as a matter of fact. Even searching Magallan (not magella, sorry) doesn't get you very far. It is certainly not an official ship type. I just thought it looked cool : ) -Brian
Marcathonas. Isn't the frame rate cap at 60fps? Unless the throttling went buggy, but in normal operation I dont think it would have any effect if the card is already pushing -Brian
The Delta Flyer (Click thumbnail images for larger version) Polygon Count (triangles): 25,875. A little high for a "tiny" model, but what the hell! Defuse Mapping: Yep!<br
One is the library section to this site, the other is here: http://thegalacticcore.com/forum/pafiledb/index.php I will probably post it all over. -Brian
TheSirius . I plan on releasing all the models at once as a model pack or game mod. I guess all you have to do is keep me motivated so that I finish them all : ) I will post another one soon. -Brian
Not a bad suggestion. I'm not sure what to do about names yet. -Brian
Well there are two issues to deal with. The first is getting the model in X format to import to GalCiv2. You should install: http://www.andytather.co.uk/Panda/Files/3dsmax6/PandaDXExport4.6.61.0.zip to your max plugin dir. Uncompress first obviously. Then export (file -> export -> select Panda’s X Exporter) using the settings: “X File Settings” -> Top Frame Only “X File Settings” -> Left Handed Axis “X
The Sirius - Download the game models or raw meshes? I am not sure where I will post this pack yet. There are a few affiliated download portals for GalCiv2. If you mean the raw meshes, then there are a number of locations on the net that offer them. Google. -Brian
Hey chippi. Well the first thing is to know how to use a 3d package. If you’ve used max, then you can start from there. The prereq is that you install some form of X file exporter. Pandasoft’s export tool is the best I’ve seen for max. Depending on how much of max you know, I can explain the details of how to get lighting and texturing into GalCiv. Let me know where you stand. -Brian [email protected]
I agree. I request this feature : ) -Brian
mikhael you bastard! I just can't bare to keeping going if you're not going to play. Come on man!! -Brian
Well, the intention of this model pack is to bring movie quality ships into GalCiv2. There is no way you will get that feel if all the parts were generic enough to fit together. They normal GalCiv2 ships snap together in the ship builder, which is awesome, but the ships definately do NOT look like movie quality. If you want to build star trek ships yourself in GalCiv2, then fool around with the existing ship builder material. -Brian</font
All ships have mount points, so you can add whatever you'd like. However the GalCiv stuff might look a little out of place. -Brian
I would love to do a Runabout, but with what I have available, optimization would be a total pain in the arse. I do plan on putting in a Delta flyer, which will probably be my next project. Galaxy would most likely come next after that. -Brian
I’ve spend a lot of time optimizing the Defiant, so I wanted to work on something small. Here is the third installment in the GalTrek series, the Shuttle. The Shuttle (Click thumbnail images for larger version)
I am not sure if the 7000 supports shaders, but it wouldn't hurt to update your video card drivers, as yours are from 5/3/2005. Worth a try. -Brian
Hey Vortexdr. Ya I am targeting people who have the computer power to run these things. Check out my other ship that is infact lower poly (about 15,000!) and still packs in all the detail.. https://forums.galciv2.com/index.aspx?ForumID=162&AID=111535 I will post another one today (just a small shuttlecraft). -Brian
Kalin, he means multiple navigation points for ships to follow. Go here, then here then here, etc... This way you could have your fleet automatically navigate around certain areas of the map you wish to avoid. I think too few games make use of this functionality. -Brian
