Very nice changes. About 20 minutes in my beta game crashed, but I liked what I saw. I think I'll go back to the non beta and wait for the official release. I hope an option to only allow tech trading between alliance members is in the works.

I'm assuming the option for tech rate (normal, fast, slow, etc.) effects the AI also? My last 2 games with very slow tech rate seem to only have slowed me down. It could have been my lack of planets, but when I was just getting to laser V, every other AI race had researched to at least that level downn every attack and defense tree. I just want to make sure it was my incompetence and the tech speed option does indeed also slow the AI.
I thought you lose the ability to trade with UP members.
I don't think it's as simple as a unix grep, but it shouldn't be terribly difficult. Consider if you just cosmetically change week to month you'll have 52 months in a year and the UP will meet every 4 years or so. There is a little bit of programming that would need to be changed probably, but the devs should look into it as an option.
More variety of UP votes: UP forced peace treaties between warring races. Limits on certain weapons research or use - ex: no one can research tech beyond phasors in the beam line as it is too devastating and damages space time, vote yes or no. Or X tech is banned for a number of years, vote on how much time 0 years, 1 year, 2, or indefinite. Limits on total number of warships. Ex: In an effort to keep the galaxy safe the UP would like to limit the total number
I agree. All of my games have been over within 10 years. Thats about 520 turns. If there were monthly turns instead, that would be 43 years which seem a bit more reasonable for an empire to rise in.
I thought there used to be an ideas thread here. Anyways here's mine. When negotiating a peace treaty, a bonus or penalty for breaking that treaty. For example, have the length of the treaty negotiated and a penalty if war is declared with that race within that time frame. If the time frame expires, the treaty is still in effect but the penalty is not. A 6 month peace treaty if broken will cost the attacking player 1000 (or whatever amou
