So I was thinking the other day as I was playing Mass Effect (great game by the way), why is it that when ever there is a race of robots they are evil? I mean we have: The Borg, Cylons, Yor, Terminators, Replicators, Geth, and probably a lot more than I can remember of the top of my head! I know there have been individual robots that stood for good, Data, Robbie, etc, but can anyone think of any robot races that tend to be human friendly? Oh, and feel free to add to either lis

Yeah, very pretty. Looks interesting. It will be fun to have some turn based starship combat!

NO the Dread lords will most certainly invade! They will only send a few at a time, but their attack bonus is so high that the will easily take all but the most populated planets. I agree with the advice of trying to sneak some fast moving transports to any planets (if the DL have more than one) Chances are you haven't researched very far up the tech tree so out right confrontation may not be your best option. IF you can take a few of their planets and aquire some high level tech then y

Fairly nice history of Clancy games in the past, however you will find that many don't share your sentiment. Many of us who have been playing the R6 and SC titles have been very unhappy with Ubisofts latest offerings. Both appear to have been "adjusted" to accommodate a more twitched based community. Both titles have become much more run and gun and much less tactical and strategy minded. While this does appeal to those who complained that these games where too hard, many of

Yup, back when I was working with some real ratty used hardware (before I could buy the good stuff) Me and the BSOD where common advasaries. It sounds like bad memory or PSU. B But then again what brand of RAM are you using? Some RAM doesnt always play well with certain other pieces of hardware. Perhaps try checking for known conflict issues between that and your mobo?

The idea of moving starbases has been tossed around a lot, mostly its a question of what it would do to the game. You could start having offensive starbases, or you could move your assisting military base forward as you seize new planets. Personally I think that you need to be forward thinking in where you place you bases and that they shouldn't move. NOt sure about a droid ship, what advantage or how would it be different from a regular ship?

Some people find the economics confusing, others don't, so don't feel bad if you are having a bit of trouble with it at first. Once you get used to it the system works pretty well. Quixen is correct, your colonies can be independently managed. I won't tell you how to do it since I think he already posted a pretty good description on how to do it. Let us know if you need any more help with this! <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/BigSmile.gif" border=0 align="absmiddle"

NOt even looking at the debug it sounds like you are have an over-heating issue. Again try running from the power cord and not battery. Also try setting it up so that the laptop gets a bit of airflow around it.

When I colonize a new plant should I build a factory first? My answer is yes, build the factory. Try queing up several different buildings like, moral or science building and notice the time it takes to build them. Now Rush build a factory (even a basic one) and note the change in build time. It will be a significant difference. Say this planet is only going to have banking and economical related buildings would you e

You know, I'm getting tired of people calling every solution other than a military one "cheese". Honestly its a good tactic. Diplomatic and culture wins can be just as tough as military ones. But if you are dead set against anything but a military victory, then I suggest you launch a sneak attack deep in the heart of their territory. Hit their major production worlds, and even their home planet. Hopefully you can snag some advanced tech and be able to create some custom anti-Korath ship

Rock on Mr. Bauman... Rock on. It was a good magazine, one that focused on games and not hype and fluff. You shall be missed. So say we all.

Generally when I am in the colony rush phase, I don't think about getting all the planets I can. I usually survey the map, figure out who my neighbors are, and try to set up trade routes. The whole point being to set myself up for either a massive military campaign or diplomatic campaign. Basically, I've found that I can do more with fewer worlds that are happy, moderately well built up, have a higher population, and an empire with a stronger economy. Its not hard to conquer the AIs' p

I picked up MOO3 for two dollars on Amazon, and I still feel like I paid to much... They tried to eliminate micromanaging and tried to stream line the politics. The did their job toi well, basically the game played its self, and was not friendly at all if you tried to over ride you AI governors!

Actually i really like the super slow ships, it makes me totally rethink my strategy! Now invasion are well planned out, and are much more of an undertaking. I would hate to see it nerfed.

Ofcourse the minors are interested in them! Since they can tech trade like anyone else, the tech still has worth. Especially since these techs are worth a bundle to the majors, these can be great sources of revenue for a single planet bound AI. Therefore, no I don't think its an exploit at all.

As far as cost goes, I think it is about right... You just need to be aware of the change in price between the old and new models. A ship with a pair of first gen warp engines and offensive weapons only is going to be much more expensive than one with a piar of hyperwarps, and a blended offense and defense. But I really like the idea of having to be at a starport or space station. If the a constructor to be able to do it, I would prefer it not being used up (of course I'm stingy with my

I would agree that the majority of your opening game you are pursing the same goals no matter what kind of win you are aiming for. What helps me from getting the blues, is to focus in on my planets. Where I used to have a genric one size fits all building plan that I would scale for each world, I now make each world I come to a custom dsign. I look at its placement on the map, try to anticipate how other races will expand around it, what role it can best serve my empire, and how best to build i
