Well, that just stinks - but it seemed like it was coming based on some of the editorial comments (I seem to remember a recent plea for subscribers). I happen to subscribe to and read cover to cover The Big 3 PC gaming mags. I think each does some things better than the others but I have never once over the past 5 years I've subscribed to all 3 thought about cancelling any of them. Sure I skim GameSpot, GameSpy, IGN etc. but I found the mags to be overal superior in their coverage and reviews

I have to say I love this forum. Back when the HOMM5 beta was out and I was a beta tester I refused to load the game and said there was no way in hell I would buy it because of StarForce. So I post that and get a bunch of replies saying "you are an idiot for not buying a game just because of Starforce" yada yada yada. Might point was, and has always been, that there are simply a TON of good games out right now, many with non invasive copy protection
"Most of the bugs revolve around the auto pilot line drawing so we may just take that out for the beta and keep working on it. It wasn't a hugely requested option anyway." I would just like to lobby for the autopilot line drawing as for me it would be a big help...I didn't request it before and then when I saw it was going into 1.1 I never felt like I needed to say anything but I don't want Stardock to get the impression that it isn't a hugl
I certainly understand the point of is the AI trying to win vs is the AI being a unique empire. To me the reality is that is if every AI were in it to "win" then the cultural conquest victory condition would go away - as any remaining ai that saw you were on your way to victory should gang up on you. Would this be a bad thing? I don't know. The possibility of every player trying to position themselves to either win through military conquest or alli
Interesting post. My bottom line is really how much fun do I have playing the game. And if I'm not having fun are there specific reasons (CTD) which may be "fixed" by a patch, or sometimes games just don't resonate with me and patches aren't going to change that. I think GC2 is a great game. Will 1.1 make it better? I don't know, maybe just a little different. Sure I wanted random opponents but in all honesty not having random opponen
I could be wrong but I assumed that last sentence was meant as a joke...at least I hope it was...
I hate to keep brining this up but I would love to hear if this is being worked on. Basically, I can not get the "Add to Watch" list functionality of this forum to work. I have tried it using both IE and FF. I have tried it on 5 computers located on 3 different networks. EVERY time I get the following message: "Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to obtaining a connection from the pool. This may have occurred because all pooled
I just played a game last night and the same thing happened...everyone surrendered to anyone but me! I certainly wasn't the strongest but they didn't seem to surrender to the strongest. At times I was the one beating them into submission but like I said that didn't cause them to surrender to me (in fact, NEVER has a race whom I'm beating the tar out of surrendered to me, always to someone else). And other times I was allied and still the would surre
I agree, especially on the zooming in on the starbase to be upgraded. I usually click cancel then find the constructor on the map and initiate the upgrade again...
One other thing...I think upgrading along the same tech path should be cheaper/faster than switching (beam to missle for example) or maybe even the only upgrade allowed. In other words, to offset the potential problem of the AI making instant changes to their ships to combat your tactics, only allow upgrades in the same weapon or defense tech line - no upgrading weapons from beam to missles or defense from armour to point etc. Make sense?
I think which we are know but hasn't been said is the micromanagement effect of having to fly your ships back to spaceports to get them upgraded. I don't think that is a big deal but just wanted to be clear. After reading this thread I would agree that as it stands now upgrading is somehting I never do - which does cost me experience. However, I tend to build ships that are exponentially better rather than every few turns incrmenetally better ships
Is there any chance this will be an added in an update? Or am I the only person who wants this added? I really thought this added a lot to MOO2. You never knew who you were going up against so it caused a lot of anxiety as you explored and discovered who else shared your galaxy. Then having to change strategies on the fly depending on who else was in the galaxy and where they were in relation to you. As it is now I know what I'm getting
I was a HUGE MOO2 addict. What I can tell you is that in my opinion GC2 is VERY similar to MOO2 but just better in almost every way. I think GC2 has a much superior interface, easy to jump around to where you need to go and also easy to get lots of things done from 1 screen. I wasn't a fan of tactical combat in MOO2 so the lack of this in GC2 doesn't bother me one little bit. I do watch the battles play out about 50% of the time. It is pretty good
Unfortunately I haven't seen that show yet, although I do own the first 2 seasons on DVD, I just need to watch them! I use the term "fugue" to reference the psychiatric definition - "A pathological amnesiac condition during which one is apparently conscious of one's actions but has no recollection of them after returning to a normal state. This condition, usually resulting from severe mental stress, may persist for as long as several months.
I am not able to create a watch list in the forums. Evertime I hit the "Watch" button on the forum I get a timeout message. This has been going on for the last 5 days. I have tried both IE and Firefox. Any suggestions?
Yeah, I noticed what I think is the same thing a few times. I basically just don't update ships anymore...
Answer: abso-frickin-lutely if you ask me. I would just like to applaud Stardock on this one more time because, quite frankly, it DOES make a difference to me on what I buy. There are a lot of great games out there now and I am limited to the amount of time I have to play. When games use "invasive" anti piracy techniques that's an automatic no sale for me - like I said, there are just so many good options out right now. My most recent example - HOM
I really hate to "complain" about this game because it has been a ton of fun to play, and quite frankly Stardock has been fantastic with its support and connection to the community. That said, I totally agree with these comments and would absolutely love the option of tunring off or tunring down tech trading. At least for me the rampant tech trading makes the game less fun...
I couldn't find this on the forums so I must not be looking in the right place but is there a way to have your starting opponents be randomly selected?
These are probably stupid questions but here goes: I would like to buy the game now, and as fate would have it, none of the Best Buys, CompUSAs etc. have it in stock yet. So, being a very impatient person, I was thinking about downloading. But I had a question on the download + CD option - does that mean I can download it now and will also recieve a "retail" box (with CD, manuals, etc. - I would like to have the manual, I'm just one of those kin
