Quite right too, a lot of what you said about the star and planetary gravity wells makes perfect sense, so in theory at least, we should be able to mod planets to display functionality of a star in such ways as to allow interplanetary and interstellar jumping, and if all planets are actually stars then it makes it a lot easier to implement. But I think allowing free roaming in a system is actually move important than free roaming in a galaxy. I have and so have many played games with "l

While this game sounds very interesting and good there are a few ideas that spring to mmind as mods that would improve the game considerably. 1. Free roaming interplanetary travel, allowing movement from one planetary gravity well to any other visible in the system. 2. Sensors detecting incoming enemy fleets. 3. Slowing of interplanetary travel, at present it is WAY to fast, a fleet can cover an entire multi-planetary system in a few minutes. 4. Free roaming i
Thank you all for the informative details.
Greetings one and all, First if all I'd like to say I am new to the forums and I have been reading a lot about this game and have a few questions. 1. Can someone clarify the size of the universe is it limited to 4 solar systems and hundreds of planets or can it be changed to something most realistic like hundreds of solar systems and a dozen planets each. 2. If not then how is the solar systems in the game represented separately from each other, i.e. is each system a s
Hi, Is that any way or are there any mods that add environments to the main map like nebulas, blackholes, etc. I'd like to see blackholes sucking ships in and see ship reduced to half speed while flying through a nebula. Any case of anything like this?
I don't know what kind of business school Frogboy went to but it seems perfectly obvious to me that if the poll trend of 33% extends to the customers that brought the game and they say we want a multiplayer expansion, then you'd be a fool not to release one. Think of it this way, the likelihood of any game getting ANYWHERE near the original sales with an expansion pack is pure insanity. The most you could ever hope for is about 50% if that, if Stardock can get 33% of their original releases sal

I play amazing tiny galaxy games yet even after I rip the AI hands down in record time on Normal, Crippling, and Tough I get rewarded for my speed conquests with 4000-6000 scores. Yet people that play for 560 years in Gigantic galaxies for the sheer sake of it get 4.5 million scores???? I think I agree with the rebalance, remove the length as a factor to the scoring, or invert it so blitzers are rewarded for quick games especially in a GIGANTIC game. -J
I noticed that in my current game, the Yor in a large VERY abundant galaxy with usually 3 nice planets per system only colonised about 5 planets in 4 years till they gave up to the Drengin. They had built NOTHING but military and their research was flatlined forever... their worlds which I took off the Drengin were pretty much empty before Tidal Bombardment. What the hell were they doing for 4 years???? They and the Insectoids both did f* all all game, and intell is set to
No you can get a silly high score by doing nothing and just clicking turn for 10,000 weeks. A player called AW Trepasser has already done this to prove the fact the MV scoring system is fubar'd. Apparently SD is suppose to be fixing it be have yet too. -J Short game with small galaxy will ALWAYS score low. Simply because you don't have a huge number of planets and hence population and you don't usually play for long and so the length is short.
Scoring in the MV is purely based on population and time, the bigger the population and the longer the game the better the score. In other words its BS! Other factors are probably involved but not to much extent. -J
I for one am a single player junkie. The only multiplayer games I have played include Planetside and SWG. I like a persistant gameworld and could never see myself playing a game like GC2 as I like to take my time and play the game. Nor do I have the time to spend playing online, just give me a great SP game which you have and thr
Well let now look at it from a personal point of view but from a business point of view. First lets look at the voting poll, this is a good indicator whether it is worth the time to consider development or not. The poll asks quite specifically whether we as viewers of the site, not necessarily as good owners but as visitors, if we would pay $20 (£15) for an expansion pack that provided multiplayer features. The polls re
ROFLMAO! This thread is one of the funniest I have ever seen on this forum, the pure comic value people attribute to the poor misfortunates of their citizens is both shocking and highly amusing. Bless you all for I need to stop reading or risk dying of lack of being able to breath. :') -J
AAAAAAAwwwww mate that is just harsh to say the least! You should always do what the Kaiidan Imperium do when someone makes a demand of us. Take their planets off their hands and reduce their homeworld to ashes. That ensures all other races know not to make demands in future. The last fool to try that was the Korx, they lasted all of 2 months until my warlanders dropped 3 billion troops on their homeworld. Emperor Jovien Kai
No mate I have brought this up as well in 2 threads. I ever reinstalled 2 times to get rid of it but it keeps coming back, NO matter what settings for galactic setup I use I get on AVERAGE 80-90% stars with 5 planets....... Now thats odd! Especially when everything is on ultra rare. The only conclusion I've got is that the creation process on extra galaxy needs a minimal number of planets to appear in game to justify th
Ori = Dreadlord!
Probably 40+ hours - Intelligent. large Galaxy, 9 opponents. Game spanned 3 versions - beta1.1 to 1.1b3. It was a fun game - had a poor start, I eventually gave up trying to conquer everyone since the 5 remaining civs were all equal in military power, and instead went for a Cultural win towards the end after an aI/aI war l
yep I had this crap too, not fun at all -J
The thing about multiplayer isn't whether it is a good idea or not to develop but if you can make it work. The only reason SD shouldn't develop MP is if they aren't up to the task of making it a success. In this chance they clearly aren't confident enough that it will work to everyones benefit, and that to me I can respect. After all professional pride says that you should start to do something unless you can make a half decent hack at it. M
LOL defence in GC2 is pointless, I had a ship in one game with 36 shields and it was almost owned by a fighter with 5-7 beam attack. This was on a one on one battle, I tend to just load up with weapons. If you hit them hard enough they not going to even have the chance to hit back. 2 hyper warps + 10 phasers tends to do the job nicely. -J
LOL YEP! Game Master: Ok turn 102, Player 1 you currently have ......... *7 minutes later and a lot of counting* ......... 179 planets, make your turn changes now please. 41 hours later............ Player 1: Ok done, oh wait did I organise my research yet? All other players: GROAN! Yep that would be a f**king nightmare. But let face it 3000 planets isn't that many is it? LOL! Just imagine all the s
Greeting Wizit of the Knights of the Inner Sphere, I have review from empires data files and have concluded that you maybe in need of some help. It is a shame that there is no dualotronic interface system installed in this poor excuse for an interface package or I'd help your empire to defeat your enemies. But alas you'll have to settle for a sample of my wealthy experience instead. To increase your empires chances at survival foc
Yeah I've noticed that too about my games, they have almost become pointless in their repeativeness. It seems like all I want to do is destroy my enemy and start a new game to get yet more scores posted. I think I'll start to lay off the MV for a while or risk loosing interest in the game entirely. -J
well actually thinking about it I imagine you can force the game to have more planets and stars, the devs did say that the game could host upto 3000-5000 planets. I think the formular is such; max 3 stars per sector gigantic max is 15 * 15 sectors each star can have max 5 planets 15*15 sectors = 225 sectors * 3 stars per sector = 675 stars * 5 planets per star = 3375 planets WOW! thats a helluvalo
