All hail the mighty frogmeister! *BOWS* Humble apologies almighty, it was not a complaint but a observation... "Hallowed are the Frogmeisters" *Looks round for incoming lightning bolts*

In fact it is said the AI will rip most players even on the lowest setting. LOL! Damn! On medium it kick 10 types of sh*t out of the developers! LOL! Now I'd hate to see that AI get on to the web and do a Skynet!

To be perfectly fair... Stardock can't answer the question I am asking since I'm in the UK and the publishing and distribution here in Europe is being dealt by paradox, who have informed me that there is a DIFFERENT version of the game coming out here, this is most likely not the collectors edition but a bog standard copy which has a very fancy case. I am getting pretty pissed off about this. I preordered to get the collectors edition with the extra content, but instead I

Carriers are possible, you just have to be a bit imaginative. Basically design your fighters as a module, assign them as missile technology and give them a damage value. Assign a new model of a hanger to the tech tree to launch them and you have fighters. Problem then is the fact they don't come back and appear to blow up when they ram the enemy ships. LOL! A work around is possible I suspect. Also mines could be given a default movement value of -10 to stop them moving. I

After watching Stargate and BSG this weekend I also would like to see a carrier type vessel in the game, maybe fighters can be classed as missiles and fitted to the mothership as a hanger module unit. The ship then "launches" fighters to attack the enemy ship directly, counted by the enemies point defence like in the real world. The trick is to get the missile to return to the mothership after each successful attack, and only return the missiles not destroyed. Perhaps a modder can do this after

This is a good reason for in-game cut-scenes, rather than pre-rendered stuff. Another good reason is the megabytes of movie files that it would save. And also, the ability to do scripted story writing with in-game stuff. That is a very good idea, imagine watching a short rendering of the highlight of each mission with a text description under i

Another game with good diplomacy but lacking the right AI to utilize it is Space Empires 4. The features for treaties and demands are awesome, but the AI and the player hardly ever gets the chance to use them properly. J

Because it is £17.99 with free delivery from play.com while buying it overseas will cost $45 + VAT (17.5%) + Delivery ($5-10) + Customs Tax (?%), making that one very expensive game.

Hi everyone, I know a lot of europeans have been asking whether or not we also get the limited collector edition of this game. Unfortunately I pre-ordered from Play.com and have contacted paradox directly for details on what they are supplying people with. My question to paradox was were they supplying play.com with the collectors edition i.e. cardboard box or a standard dvd case version. This is their response; Hi Jon, The answer to your

I just got this from paradox, must say I am impress with their speedie reply. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi Jon, The answer to your question is neither nor. The European Version of the game comes in a Steelbook (=a metal case in DVD case size). There are no different boxes to begin with at release, but depending on the how fast the limited edition Steelbooks will sell out we will be reprinting the game

I'd love to see a bunch of alien transports land while under heavy anti-air fire! I'd imagine billions would die. I think planets should have a square mountable structure on them to improve, planetary defence. An anti air gun that kills % of the incoming invasion force. Giving the troops more of a chance to defend the planet. I always find attacking is heavily one sided against defence. In reality defending should give the natives a great advantage. In galciv it

I can't find any email address on play.com to ask about the box set!? How annoying, I've emailed Paradox to ask which version of the game they are supplying to Play.com Hopefully I'll get a reply sometime this century.

I've played GalCiv 1 and found the diplomacy section extremely lacking, the treats it offers to the user are pretty much limited. The feature allowing you to demand items or trade items is very good but besides that there is little you can do. In MOO2 you could establish military / ecomonic / research treaties that helped your civilization a lot. In GalCiv you only really have access to military treaties and they do very little for you. In MOO2 a military treaty gave you access to all

I have also just pre-order via play.com and was concerned by the same thing... Hmmmm I went to paradox interactive's website and it is crap for information regarding anything. Personally I think that is a sign of a very poor publisher. J

"The Altarian Prophecy When the humans came into contact with the Altarians, it was quite a shock. The Altarians and the humans look nearly identical and even DNA tests showed that they were the same species. The Altarians were a very spiritual people and their high priest read a prophecy that had been made over 100,000 years ago that one day the Altarians would meet their cousins and that amongst them they would come to learn how the beginning of the Altarians had come to be. It al

Hi I'm in the UK, if I wanted a retail collectors box version, how would I do able it? Would I just order it from my local game store or would I have to order it from a US retailer on the net? Also in regards to the temporary key if I pre-order the game in the UK do I get a temporary CD key and who would provide these, the store or Stardock? Sorry for the questions I reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally want this game, and am more than willing to get

Very easy way to implement mines into this game. Make a unit with no capability for travel, make a module that can only be attached to that unit, make unit buildable by only constructor. Now have module do offence damage x 10 and defence x 10, make the unit very expensive but with cheap maintenance, have constructor build in a sector like a starbase, what do you have? A minefield.

I have taken the opportunity to read through all your comments, a lot of very good point regarding TBS and MP have been made, I must admit that all of my MP experiences have been with RTS or turn stacking games. To the last poster I'd like you to re-read the title of the thread, we it says was a question and not a statement. I am inquiring whether or not MP is an important feature of a game in the age of boardband internet, not that it should be there by default. I recall the endless

Hi I am new to the forums but have been reading them for a while, I am somewhat concerned over the idea of a TBS game without any real standalone multiplayer feature. This is without a doubt one of "THE" most important features of any TBS or RTS game. Replay value is somewhat limited in single player mode after you have played the campaign and a number of generated universes. It is the multiplayer element that provide the additional frill factor that keeps a decent TBS/RTS game going long after
