Of course we'll still support 32bit too but there's a lot of performance boosts we could provide to 64-bit players in the future.
What kind of performance boost do you get with 64-bit? Are you doing double computation? Or is there just more boost available with pre-computation that you can do with a bigger slice of memory.

So how come Republicans are -7 (the left) and Democrats are 7 (the right)? :) (joke btw)
Hardly PC industry changing, but intriguing nonetheless. I was hoping you were going to announce your fantasy game *frowns*.
Its totally PC industry changing, you apparently haven't read much about Impluse. They want to move to a 'microsubscription' service for games after they've gone through their free updates. I think this is a great idea. Not to mention digital downloading without having to deal with annoying CD/DVD protection is the no-brainer way to go.
I think this means you have to attend the GDC from now on :)
I've found the news on other sites online. I'd post a link but I don't want to rain crap on the parade. If you want a hint to where you can find it, search for a really evil avatar!
My guess is it has to do with the Sins of Solar Empire expansion [link="http://blog.wired.com/games/2008/04/sins-of-a-solar.html"]WWW Link[/link] And that it will be released for free! (Or close to free)
I had this same question a week ago or so and Kyro gave me this
Go to My Documents\My Games\GC2DarkAvatar, open the file prefs.ini, and make the following changes: Change DisplayWidth=1680 DisplayHeight=1050 To DisplayWidth=(Your desktop width) DisplayHeight=(Your desktop height) Then save the file and start the game.
You'll have to find the file in Vista - but yah, look for a prefs.ini
Have you tried different resolutions and settings? Do they all crash? Its definitely the video card given that error file. It's messing up on the double buffering of the frame buffers - which is strange. I'm getting a computer very similiar to yours in a few weeks with vista-64bit, I hope theres an answer to this :)
Here it is - it looks like its trying to force a resolution that my monitor can't handle (1680x1050). If thats the problem, lemme know what I can use for command arguments or whatever to get it started, so I can adjust it :) Debug Message: Version v1.80e Dark Avatar last updated on: Thu Nov 8 10:48:23 2007 Debug Message: Checking DX Version. I am having a problem with Dark Avatar loading. I haven't played this game in awhile, so I am not sure what has changed. Gal Civ 2 vanilla version still loads just fine, but when I try Dark Avatar I get a blank screen on loadup and it hangs (I have to kill the process to close it). I am runnin 1.80g. My computer has an intel duo 6400, geforce 8800gts (updated to latest drivers), 2 gigs of ram. I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling Dark Avatar from stardock ce
Wearing down defenses is the solution to having individual weapons fire at separate targets. It used to be, one ship fired all its guns at the other, one offense roll vs one defense roll. Now since each gun can fire at a different target, it has to 'wear' it down during the round so later shots can actually damage the ship.
I'm curious to know how well this responds under a heavy CPU load. Like if I have a 3D application killing most of my processing speed on the clients, can this program still send and receive its keyboard and mouse commands nicely to the client computers? I work in a Virtual Reality lab where we have 3 seperate computers running a large projection screen. Right now I use a free program called Synergy to transfer my I/O, how does your program differ from this? (Thanks for any replies g
Two Points: 1: Critical hits are already in the game, if I roll crappy, and you roll really well, thats sort of a rare occurence, and I pay the price 2: Similiar to what SrGalen said above, handling defenses with 'every weapon fires' individually isn't hard. -First make the defense roll for all the target ships defense - and use that as defense value D -Now, fire each w
Just installed FireFox 1.5 and that fixed the formatting problem. There is still a minor issue I noticed, dealing with the images below your reply. Firefox crops the images for some reason - this doesn't affect the ability to read like the formatting did, but I felt it was worth mentioning Here is an image of what I'm talking about
I am running FireFox v1.07. Extensions running are Adblock and Filter Set G. I don't believe Adblock causes any problems, since I don't run that at home, and I get this same formatting error. Here is an image from this thread. Notice the 'medals' below your post not formatting correctly, and the 'font' and 'size' dropboxes from the reply field not landing in their correct docking locations. (edit for correct pic link) <img src="http://www-users.cs.umn.edu/~riesbr/forum_e
Has anyone here had problems with Firefox not formatting the forums correctly? Essentially what I've noticed is that during the page loading the replies and images align correctly, and upon completion of the page load they shift, and aren't lined up correctly. Even the little 'font' drop down box on top of the reply box shifts up and out of its normal docking area - and if I select it, it moves back down - *almost* fixing the formatting problem, but the little medals and award images or whateve
Same here. But it was your journals on this site that really sold it for me. Even had to buy gal civ 1 first to pass the time until release.
