Version v1.91 Twilight of the Arnor last updated on: Thu May 1 12:15:51 2008 On turn 2228-04-01, I research "Basic Miniaturization" and then on the next turn all the remaining techs research costs have DOUBLED!!! I know research costs increase with each researched tech but this seems more like an April Fools Joke! ;-)

Version v1.91 Twilight of the Arnor last updated on: Thu May 1 12:15:51 2008 While playing as the Yor with diplomacy 73% (thanks to Diplomatic Translators), I tried trading "Impulse Drive" to the Iconian Refuse who were only 1 turn away from completing their research for this tech. They would not trade "Space Weapons" alone but when I also asked for their "Missile Weapon Theory" the trade went green and I could also add 234 BC! Removing "Space Weapons" or "Missile Weapon

What is your research rate? When I play all factories I set the research rate to very fast. I don't play this strategy on anything less than a medium map with everything abundant. On smaller maps you are probably better off playing the all labs strategy. In this game the medium map had less than 50 planets with 6 AIs and myself. Some suggestions for improving the AI: (1) Don't Waste the Start of Game Money/Capital The biggest mistake the AI makes is it spends its start of game money/capital as fast as it can rather than saving most of it for funding its early empire that will be running with a deficit. I set spending at 100% but set my taxes low to keep morale at 100% on all or most of my planets to grow my population at twice the rate. I won't buy colony ships but will buy a factory or lab on a 300% or g

The first constructor I send out to claim a galactic resource may have extended range and possibly engines for extra speed. The constructors I send afterwards I make as cheap as possible. That meant a small hull with only the constructor module until I reached miniaturization 25% at which point I would use tiny hulls. In ToA small hulls are not available until you have researched Interstellar Construction, so cargo hulls are needed until that point. Will the AI also use cheaper hulls

Playing ToA Beta 5, as a custom super breeder with the Terran tech tree and ship styles, I noticed what I think to be a trading bug. When I tried to trade Enhanced Miniaturization to any of the AIs, both major and minor, they would not offer any money or influence points. When I would click on them it should automatically calculate the maximum amount of money they are willing to offer. The offer came in as 1BC but the trade was in

My system only has 1 CPU but it is hyper threaded which makes it appear to the OS as 2 CPUs. I failed to mention in my original post that I found a work around to the crash. If after starting up GalCiv2 ToA 4c, I first load up another saved game before loading up the saved game causing the crash, I can avoid the crash and continue the game. I checked Stardock Central to see if 4d has been posted and it claimed to update me from "0.96a[b].004 -> 0.96a[b].006 Released Feb. 19, 20

Gamespot recently reviewed "Sins of a Solar Empire" and ranked it Editor's Choice (just as they did for GalCiv2, two years ago). I see no mention of this very positive review from an influential website anywhere on the SoaSE or GalCiv2 websites. I know Brad likes to update the Websites with good news like this but either missed this or hasn't had time. I understand he is out sick today but I see he just posted about another favorable review in the forums. <a href="http://www.gamespot.

I started a game under Beta 4a and later updated to 4b briefly before updating to 4c. Shortly after updating to 4c I began experiencing display driver crashes while loading a saved game. I updated to the latest NVIDIA driver for my GeForce FX 5200, version 6.14.11.6921, released 2007/12/05 but that did not resolve the problem. Next I created a new game using Beta 4c but by 2228/03/01, I'm again seeing the error! I get the Windows blue screen of dea
At my best I can probably barely out colonize the suicidal AI if I simultaneously try to build up all my planets as I'm colonizing. I can outcolonize the suicidal AI at about 2 to 1 if I just plop down colonists and let the pop grow without building up industry. But to consistently outcolonize the suicdal AI at a 2 to 1 rate while building up all those planet to full productive capacity before the end of the colony rush is what I've never seen duplicated.
When you say you just

I think Purge once said on large or greater maps with planets common or greater, he passes (at least early in the game) on researching the extreme colonizing techs. Instead he favors letting the AIs colonize them and in the process over overextend themselves. He picks up the colonization techs when he invades the AIs. Mumblefratz, during the colonization rush on a large or greater map with planets common or greater, do you bother researching the colonization techs?
Wow, when you said "Detailed", you weren't kidding. My score was low, only 21400 because I was not playing for a high score. Mumblefratz, you talked a lot about your growing population. Do you bother to build farms on your planets? Back when I was playing DL, I would place two farms and one moral center on each planet. However, that was when stock markets provided a 10% moral bonus and a VR center provided something like a 70% moral bonus. In DA it is much harder to get high morale and given taxes increase with the sqrt of population it seems the squares you would use for farms and moral centers would be bett
