And they're just as attentive (if not more so) about their desktop customization software, too. I'm a SD customer for life - I use Object Desktop, ObjectDock+, as well as GalCivII and (as soon as I get back to the US) I'll get Sins. They're a pretty great company.

I know they happen at levels lower than Normal on DA, but I don't have TA yet so I can't answer that. But they said they really didn't screw around with the mega events at all, so chances are you're just unlucky (or would that really be lucky?)
Plus, make sure you've researched alliances. It's right above all the diplomacy stuff in the tech tree, after 'Interstellar Governments'.
I will admit that all of the races are cool to me , and I wonder if that is the reason.
That would be the exact reason. They'll only form alliance with you if your relations are 'close'. Not even warm or friendly. So start getting chummy if you want some allies!
My biggest advice would be to dial down the difficulty until you can win. Relatively consistently - like 4 or 5 in a row. Practice your strategy on the easier games, and then dial that sucker back on up.
For the record, Captain Yar, how does one go about earning one o 'dems Racial Victory medals, anyway?
If you're playing Dark Avatar, it's down the Xeno Biology tree. I think (I'm trying to remember off the top of my head) it's Xeno Biology, some general colonization tech, and then the different types of inhospitable planets you encounter, so you can pick your poison. In TA, I have no idea. Haven't played it yet - waiting for the release.
Couldn't you just simply gift a terror star itself to a minor race?
Well yeah, but it would be more fun to give them the tech and see if they have the stones to make one . . . ;)
This the 'F' is a Chumby.
If all it is is Impulse, I'll be sad. As an ODNT subscriber, I've already been using the Impulse beta for almost a month! That would be anti-climactic. ;)
Damn you for not telling more than your sub-title - 'the PC game industry is about to change'. How big can this announcement really be? ;)
You wouldn't want me, I promise. I just barely finished my first metaverse game, and I won, but points-wise I suck at this game.
Yay for a final release date. Even if it wasn't last November. I'm eager to play! :D
Are you playing a different race than the one you designed the original ships in? If they're using a different hull template, they won't show up. Other than that, I don't know of anything. (That reminds me, I need to clean out my saved ships - I'm tired of having to come up with new variations on the word 'crap' for each new ship I build.)
I can't give a specific order. To do so would be blasphemous. ;) Blackwater Park by Opeth Hemispheres by Rush And All That Could Have Been by Nine Inch Nails Water Night by Eric Whitacre Given to the Rising by Neurosis Proud to Drown by Made Out of Babies Happy Hippo by Could Cult Lost in Moments by Ulver A Pleasant Shade of Gray by Fates Warning (tech
Or are your trade slots filled?
I rename them to something like "we suck" or "cannon fodder".
I name all my ships stuff like "lil' crapper" or "crappier than others". Maybe I'm not getting immersed in the game as much, but I prefer if there are sexual or scatological references in the names of all my ships.
would you happen to know if the Gold Edition will require any updates, or is it fully patched out of the box.
It'll work out of the box (it's not as bug-ridden as some major releases), but I'd update it if I were you. Good on you for picking it up. You won't be disappointed. :D
I bought the "Gold" edition. I hadn't taken into account the dollar-euro difference. It comes up to 28 euros. Cheap!
You won't be sorry. She will be, but you won't. :P
Wow, tough decision. One dollar more for a way better version of the game . . . What I find funny is that the Stardock price listed on this very site for the original has dropped to 20 bucks. I wonder why it's still so high at newegg . . . :NOTSURE:
Hum, all these would definately help with a strategy game,
Yeah, these are not eye-candy expansions. These are substantial improvements to an already pretty great game. For sure go with the Gold at least. I haven't bought TA yet (because I can't download the betas, so I figure what's the point?) but once it's officially released, I'll definitely bite. Brad continually says that this will be a much bigger expansion than DA was, so I'm pumped. With your background in s
If no such bundle is planned, might Twilight of the Arnor possibly make it to store shelves, or would it be a website-only purchase as well?
Kryo has said that there will be no retail version at all of Twilight of the Arnor. You can either download it, or purchase the 'download and CD' version, pay an extra ten bucks for shipping, and get a CD in a slipcase. But there's no fancy box or printed manual or all the other things retail releases entail.
*Gasp* X-Worlds not mentioned!
Shh! He'll come back and bring it up, just because you said it! :( ;)
Okay, I'll try to be more Dark Avatar-specific. ;) 1. The graphics are still a huge step up from DL (Dread Lords) to DA. The ships have a lot more texture, and there's even little details like when you zoom in closer on a planet you can see all the ships docked at that planet in orbit around it. Very, very cool. But the nice thing is, it'll still run on my crappy old machine. :D 2. The AI is certifiably smarter, and if you read the posts that Brad (Draginol or Frogboy, dep
