Defence usually sucks for defending worlds without ships in orbit. You could have 10:1 tech advantage and +30% soldering and still lose. These seem to be almost exclusively offensive based. This bugs me as well as I'd rather minimize military expenditure/maintenance and focus on tech and starbase construction.

Yep I agree with the OP and Wyndstar's idea of adding HP with additional constructors say up to 250 base HP not including level up increases with each constuctor adding say 2-4 HP. Nothing worse than building up a level 30 starbase for it to be destroyed by a fleet of well equipped small hulled enemy fighters (I was keeping it's defensive ratings low for faster level ups). Also the ability for the starbase to participate in defending battles with defending ships so the starbase also gets XP.
Bump, now at 1.4. It doesn't seem quite as bad (maybe 20% less) but they're still converging and trying to futilely kill my trade ships to no avail. I'd rather they tried to concentrate on my starbases so I can get XP for them.
Yeah I had that issue playing as a human a while back G.P. Bug
I was going to provide a smart alec relpy by suggesting sending constructors to the starbases to be upgraded but after reviewing your profile you're obviously not that much of a noob. Which patch are you running 1.2 or the the 1.3beta. If you've gone researching into the purple tech tree with starbase fortification and still can't upgrade them my only suggestion would be to try reinstalling from scratch.
Re Jfp3 I've got a similar rig but a slightly upgraded vid card 9600xt 128MB. Which drivers are you using, I've installed 5.11 and then just overwritten them with the 6.4 drivers without the CCC(Catalyst Control Center). This way there's still control panel functionality but without the .net bloat. System is stable as alt tabbing out of GC2. Slipped XP Pro SP2 RyanVMed 2.07a, P4C 2.8GHz, 1GB(2x512MB) Corsair RAM, 128MB 9600XT(Gigabyte), McAfee VirusScan 10.0.27/4450/latest Dats
Not if you don't plan on opening up and using adobe photoshop cs2, nero 7, a video conversion program and running your disk defragmenter at the same time or be alt tabbed out for more than an hour you should be right.
Ah okay, thanks for clearing that up for me.
Hmm if you can provide proof of receipt to stardock via happy snaps of the receipt, box and serial they MIGHT(I've got no say) be willing to provide you a new one prior to them contacting the person with the said serial in use and possibly cancelling that persons serial and invalidating it in upcoming patches. But I think you can at least update it to 1.10x bonus pack dated 030306 manually if you can manage to find a link on the web somewhere if it still exists. Otherwise have you been in cont
Hi everyone, just reinstalled xp a couple of weeks ago and been replaying FF7 and went to reinstall GC2 today and check for updates and noticed the new 1.2 patch on the website dated 18-07-06 different from last months 1.2 dated 15-06-06 as the file sizes have increased by a bit over 1MB. Is this additional/modified content or is it just a modified installer? If is is being incrementally updated shouldn't the version numbers be too and on the main menu, ie 1.21,1.22 etc? Cheers.
Nah keep the forums, they're getting better. I love white text on black starry blackgrounds. I get sick to death of forums with the standard black text on white backgrounds.
Yeah I noticed this last week, I thought it was because I was continuing a save from 1.11 but now a fresh 1.2 game I've think I've only had 1 event in 100 turns whereas before I'm sure I got one about every 20-25 turns or so with +1 luck.
Umm, your spending slider is at 100% military (no need to focus on military in this case) so anything other than military that's not focused on the world screens will of course be 0. If there's nothing in the military queue to be built(3 out of the 6 worlds) and these worlds aren't focusing on social or research then you're basically wasting a turn. Savegame working fine here, might be a bad mod or perhaps need a reinstall.
Read that post okay, just highlight everything in the debug.err file (CTRL A), copy (CTRL C) and paste it all in here (CTRL V) and pray that the formatting doesn't go screwy.
Why can't rather than rounding each and every item can't the calculations be done behind the scenes and have the total rounded right at the end? Perhaps even have a rounding for the ship design page for GUI/user simplicity yet have a separate calculation (same but without the rounding routine) for the PROGRESSIVE additions of each component which would show up on the ship page ie 53/73. As it stands there's way too much error in the current rounding system. Either that or each hull size has to

Post a debug.err file from your install location. Update your sound drivers.
Regarding point 10. The scroll speed can be adjusted under the interface tab in OPTIONS ie default is 50 I think and I have it set to 90.
The carriage return button goes haywire on the forums occasionally, eg 3 days ago for me unless the above was just rush typed.
You're 2 patches behind - uninstall, install and patch to 1.2. That being said though they're only available on the galaxy setup screen when you start a new game, not in the actual OPTIONS menu. edit: WOW I just noticed the CPU intensive algorithms button (was that in 1.11?), better give that a try
Yeah I can't create new threads using Firefox 1.5.0.4 either only reply to existing ones. Editing them is a real pain too because 80% of the time it doesn't save the changes and the formatting is all screwy. I always have to copy what I've just written into a blank text document before I hit the submit button or I risk it just disappearing. Going to options and alternating text mode/html mode helps sometimes but it gets so danged annoying quickly. Even editing in IE6 is a hit and miss affair
You're a couple of patches short. Try updating to 1.2.
When I get the trade good galactic privateer the enemy A.I wastes 3-6 turns trying to attack my now unkillable trade ships before taking a break for 2 turns only to reaquire them, argh. So in the next patch could something like the following be added for each playing race, ta. IF CIV5 has G.P. ignore CIV5 trade ships with a dedicated trade route ELSE if time/resources/location permits attack the mofo
This is more of a super minor cosmetic suggestion than a bug but would it be possible to create a null row entry in the expenses column for expenses taking up more than 1 line like 'United Plants: Starbase Tax' or maybe shortening it to U.P. Starbase Tax so the rows aren't all squished together. Also well done for the 1.2 patch it totally rocks, haven't had a crash since 1.11
Yup just checked the history file and the mods directory that used to be in my documents is now in the game directory.
